Finding, downloading, and inserting a movie from www.unitedstreaming.com 1. This assignment will show how to download a movie from www.unitedstreaming.com, save it in your folder, and insert it into a PowerPoint Presentation. Start Internet Explorer. 2. Go to Internet Explorer. In the address bar, type in www.unitedstreaming.com 3. Find the “New User Passcode” section in the center of the page. 4. Type in the 4 digit/number code from the blackboard into the two boxes. Each box has a separate code. Click the “Sign Up” button. This is the last time you will use this code. 5. You will be directed to a dialogue box that allows you to set up your own account. Please use your real name and set up an account. I recommend that you use the high school address and no phone number. This account will enable you to save your videos, video clips, articles, images, clip art, create a playlist, and edit your work. You will also be able to save the newer unitedstreaming features to your account.
6. Important Points: a) For a “desired screen name,” enter your full name [first and last] in lower case and no spaces. For example, I log in as rjstangherlin. b) Choose a password that is easy for you to remember. Write your user name and password down somewhere safe. I have no access to your username and password, so if you forget it, you will have to try to retrieve it via unitedstreaming. c) After you have filled in the account information, press “Continue.” You should now see the unitedstreaming home page. 7. Locate the “Log Out” button in the upper right hand part of the window. Click it to log out. 8. You will now see the unitedstreaming home page. On the left hand side, there is a log in feature for “Existing Users.” Log in, this time with your screen name and password. If you have done everything correctly, you will be able to log in and begin searching. 9. You can use the “Search” dialogue box or you can click on “Advanced Search.” I prefer the advanced search because of the extra features. When you locate an editable clip, you would download it and save it to your “h” drive. You can also save it to your playlist, which I heartily recommend. 10. You would edit these videos/clips in the same manner you would edit any other .avi or MPEG file.
