About This Guide
This guide is designed as a quick reference to help you get started with installing Phosys onto your PC. If you have had bespoke customisation, this guide may not be relevant to your installation – please contact Phosys for more information

Minimum Requirements
Designed For: Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, 2003 Minimum System Requirements: Recommended Requirements:

N.B. Not all features are available on operating system versions before Windows XP. Depending upon how you instruct Phosys to create copies of the photographs you add, larger amounts of disk space may be required than is listed above.

Security and Downloads
Phosys is easily installed by clicking the download button from www.phosys.com/downloads or by inserting the Phosys Installation CD and following the instructions. The Cyber Mill Limited is committed to security. We digitally sign the software, so that you can be sure that the software you install from our web site or from one of our CD's originated with us, and has not been tampered with or infected by a virus.
To check the authenticity of a download from within a Web Browser
The Screen Shots shown here were created using Internet Explorer 6 and Windows XP Service Pack 2. When you have downloaded the file from the web site, and selected the "Run" option from within Internet Explorer, you should be presented with a screen similar to this one:
Confirm that the Publisher is "The Cyber Mill Limited" before you run the software - you can check the certificate by clicking "The Cyber Mill Limited" link. Follow the instructions below regarding viewing a digital certificate.

To check the authenticity of a file on CD or your Hard Disk
N.B. The Screen Shots shown here were created using Windows XP and Service Pack 2. Locate the setup file on your CD or hard disk (setup.exe), right click the file and select "Properties" from the menu. Choose the "Digital Signatures" tab. N.B. If this tab does not exist, then please check with The Cyber Mill Limited before continuing. This will display a screen similar to the following:
Confirm that the Name of signer or Publisher is "The Cyber Mill Limited" before you run the software - you can check the certificate by clicking "The Cyber Mill Limited" line and selecting the "Details Button". Follow the instructions below on viewing a Digital Certificate.

To view the Digital Signature
Follow the instructions above for a file from a disk, or a file that is being run from within a Web Browser. You should see the signature information screen as follows:
You can view the certificate that was issued by clicking the "View Certificate" button:
If you see any problems with the certificates, please contact The Cyber Mill Limited for advice.

Installation from a CD
Insert the CD into your CD-Rom drive. If the following screen is not displayed, click on “Start”, “Run…” and enter “D:\setup.exe”. (Replace D: with the letter of your CD-Rom Drive)
Click the “Install Phosys” link to start the installation.
Installation from the Phosys Web Site
The latest version of Phosys is always available from the web site at www.phosys.com/downloads. Please read the notes above regarding “Security and Downloads” before you run the downloaded setup program.

Running the setup program
The setup program will initialise and may download newer installation components from the web if they are not already installed on your PC. Press next.
You must agree to the to Terms and Conditions - click on “I Agree” and then press “Next”.
Choose an installation folder for the software and then press the “next” button again. If you are going to use Phosys to archive copies of your digital pictures, select a disk with a large amount of space, or a dedicated secondary or network drive.
Phosys will install the software. When finished, the installer might ask to reboot the PC.

Running Phosys for the first time
The first time that you run Phosys, you will either need to enter account details that have been supplied for use with your customised site, or you will have to create a Trial account. Trial accounts are valid for a period of one month after you install the software for the first time. A trial account can be upgraded to a full account at any time.
Enter existing account information
At the login screen enter an existing Customer ID number and password. Make sure that the server is set to the correct server name given to you by Phosys, and press the “Login To Phosys” button.

Creating a Trial Account
You can create a trial account by clicking the “Create Account” link on the Login Page.
Enter all the required information AS CAREFULLY AS POSSIBLE. Help will be given on the right hand side of the screen about each option. The information entered here is used to set up your initial Phosys web space and invitation cards. Click “Create Account” to send the information to the server and setup your trial account.
N.B. You won’t be able to use the software until you have activated it.
Activating your account
You will immediately be sent an email containing an activation code for your software. Follow the instructions in the email to activate your account. This is to make sure that the email address you supply is valid. If you have entered an invalid email address, you can log into the web site, change your email address and request a new activation code.
