What is it?
Global Marketing Solutions is a global directory of Travel Industry Sales Outlets. All outlets on the IATA/IATAN Global Marketing Solutions database have been assigned an IATA numeric code in order to be identified with Airlines and Travel and Tourism suppliers for the sale of travel products and services.
How are locations assigned an IATA numeric code?
The IATA numeric code is unique and globally accepted and recognised. It is assigned to IATA Accredited or IATAN Accredited Agents as well as other travel industry outlets where specific criteria have been met to allow them to sell industry products and services. Global Marketing Solutions contains contact information of all travel industry outlets assigned numeric codes by IATA and IATAN as well as those outlets to which codes have been assigned on behalf of other External Registrars. There are two principal accrediting industry organizations: • IATA - International Air Transport Association (operating industry accreditation program worldwide except the United States, its territories and possessions including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) IATAN - International Airlines Travel Agent Network (operating within the United States, its territories and possessions including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands)

Drill-Down Search
This feature is available directly on the Agency Information Screen. A “drill-down” search allows you to start with all of the data selected and to progressively isolate fewer and fewer records. Every field, which has a red label, can be used for a “drill-down” search. You may notice that virtually every field has a red label. Email and Internet information may only be searched from the selections on the drop down menus as follow: • • • • Email is not blank Email is blank Web address is not blank Web address is blank
For example, to find out how many outlets there are in CANADA you would; 1. Double-click on the Country field. 2. Type Canada (Notice the text in the box changes to match countries that are in the list of current outlets). 3. Press Enter. When the hourglass disappears the count of records will have changed to reflect only those outlets located in Canada. Now that you have isolated all the Canadian Outlets you could narrow the count to just those outlets within the 514 Area Code (The Island of Montréal). 1. Double Click on the 1st (left) box of the Phone Number (this is the Standard Dialing Code - Area Code). 2. Type 514. 3. Press Enter. You can keep “drilling-down” further and further until you have isolated only those outlets which match increasingly narrower and narrower criteria. To remove the filter and view all the outlets again click on the All Button. The * can be used for wild card searches in any of the searchable fields. You may type the * at the beginning and/or the end of your search text. This can be very useful when searching under the Legal or Trading name fields. Note: US Zip Codes are 5 digits - plus 4 digits if you only enter the 1st 5 digits without the * you risk missing all locations that may have provided their complete zip code.

Advanced Search
Multiple criteria searches can be accessed from the Agency Information Screen. The Advanced searching function is used when the “drill-down” isn’t appropriate to select the outlets that you need to contact. For example, if you wanted to target outlets within multiple cities, states or postal codes.
Performing an Advanced Search
The Location Criteria section of the screen refers to location specific information such as City, Region etc.. To begin the search click on Location Done. The Site Criteria section refers to the choices for the types of outlets i.e. Endorsed, Listed, Head Office, Branch Office, etc.. The Notes Section allows you to find text within the Notes Fields. You do not need to add the * wildcard character for the notes search. Simply type the text to be searched on and click on Notes Done to begin the search. As stated earlier, this screen will allow you to use multiple criteria at the same time to act as a filter. Example 1 1. Go to City and type Chicago. 2. Go to Region and type Illinois and then click Done. 3. You’ll notice that in the gray location selection box you will see the following text: CITY = CHICAGO and REGION= ILLINOIS 4. All the locations in Chicago Illinois have been selected. 5. To add Miami to this group return to City and type Miami. 6. Go to Region and type Florida and click Done. 7. Now we have all the locations in both Miami and Chicago.

To empty any one of the selection boxes just double click on it or to clear all of them click on Clear All. Example 2 1. The Postal Code and Area Code fields provide the ability to search by ranges. 2. To search for Postal/Zip Codes in the range 100-103 go to the postal code field and type 100103 this will select all locations with Postal/Zip codes starting with 100, 102 and 103. 3. Press Apply Filter to return to the Agency information screen with these selections applied to the locations. The * can be used for wild card searches in any of the searchable fields. You may type the * at the beginning and/or the end of your search text. This can be very useful when searching under the Postal Code fields. Note: US Postal Codes are 5 digits - plus 4 digits if you only enter the 1st 5 digits you risk missing all locations that may have provided their complete zip code.
Saving a Filter
This allows you keep and recall the criteria you used to select a group of locations. Filters can be saved from here and from the Agency Information Screen. Once you have created your selection criteria, click on the Save Filter button.

Printing Mailing Labels, Phone/Fax Lists and Agency Details
This is done after you have filtered or searched for the records that match the criteria you want. From the Agency Information Screen click on the Reports button.
Printed Reports or Mailing Labels and Envelopes with Bar Codes can be chosen from the following:
1. Phone List: Just like it says, the name and address of the outlet with its phone and fax numbers. 2. Agency List: This produces information about multiple outlets on one page, in a layout similar to the pages found in the Agency Lists/Directories, which are published twice a year. 3. Agency Details: One outlet per page providing all the details found on the Agency information screen. 4. Mailing Labels and Envelopes with US postal Barcodes: Select from one of the predesigned Avery Labels, the 2 Standard Envelope formats or design your own. Each label contains the Outlet’s Contact Name as well as the mailing address information. Each report also has option boxes, which will allow you to include and sometimes exclude certain information where appropriate.

All of these can be sorted by IATA Code number, Legal Name, Postal Code, City or GeoSector/Country by clicking on the desired sort choice. Some locations have requested that they not be solicited. By default these reports do not include them. In order to have these locations appear you must check on the “Include locations which have requested not to be solicited” check box. We ask that you respect the wishes of these locations in accordance with the rules and regulations in your area. Their fax numbers have been replaced with (999) 999-9999.
Exporting data to perform Mail Merges, or for use in other applications
This is done after you have filtered or searched for the records that match the criteria you want. All of the Export files have the field names as the first record. In a text delimited file each record is 523 bytes in size. As a guide to the approximate size of a file, 50,000 outlets when exported to text would create a file of approx. 26Mb in size. From the Agency Information Screen click on the Export Button.
Choose from the 4 types of Exports and Click OK.
Agency Data Export
This will create a file containing all the fields which are part of the record. Excluding the Notes and User input fields. The file layout is identical to our other database products. This amounts to over 120 fields. Not all of these fields are viewable from the screens of Global Marketing Solutions and many of them will be blank. Data may be saved in the following file types: • • • • Microsoft Access 97 dBASE 5 Microsoft Excel Workbook Lotus 1-2-3 Workbook

File Locations
Global Marketing Solutions is a database viewer which is made up of 3 components: 1. The Viewer itself 2. Your Notes (Notes) 3. The Database of outlets (Data) In order to function together the Viewer needs to know where the Notes and the Outlets are stored on your computer. When Global Marketing Solutions is installed it assumes that the CD is Drive letter D: and that you used the default installation directory of C:\GSOURCE. When you try to access the information within Global Marketing Solutions if it is unable to find either the Notes or the Outlets, the File Locations Screen will “pop-up”.
1. Make changes to one or both of these file locations and click on the OK button.
2. Global Marketing Solutions will check the information and if it was able to find the files you will see the dialog box below.
Otherwise you will receive an error message and be returned to the File Locations screen to choose again.
