Now you can make use of your “BlackBerry Handheld” OR “BlackBerry Internet Service web site” for new account creation or managing your email setting 3.0 How to Use BlackBerry Internet Service 1.2 First time set up via BlackBerry Handheld O First time logging in and new account creation t Click “Email Settings” t Click “Create New Account” t Press the track wheel to open the Menu and click “Get Link” 4.0 For Additional Help t Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions and click “Yes” 1 2 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide t Depending on your account type, you may be prompted t Fill in the User ID* and Password t Click “Next” Note: You can change the password but the User ID cannot be changed once account has been setup * You can decide your favourite User ID (may consist of a-z, 0-9 and underscore) for additional information. If so, enter it, then scroll down and click “Next” t Highlight “English” and hit space t Individual email account icons^ will appear on your BlackBerry Handheld if the email address is successfully added ^ Individual email account icons are only available for handheld software v4.1 or above O Add email address t Enter the full email address and password t Click “Next” O Create a BlackBerry email address (optional) t Scroll down and click “Create a BlackBerry email address” t A confirmation message will be displayed once the creation is successful Note: The BlackBerry email address will be used as User ID@threehk.blackberry.com t If successful, you will receive a confirmation message 1.3 First time set up via BlackBerry Internet Service web site 3 O First time logging in and new account creation t PC Requirement To access the BlackBerry Internet Service web site, your PC must have • Internet browsers Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0+ with Microsoft Active X® enabled Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0+ • Operating systems Microsoft Windows® 98, 2000 or Windows XP Mac OS® X 10.3 4 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide t Go to www.three.com.hk/blackberry/eng/ or BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide t Select a User ID www.three.com.hk/blackberry/chi/ • Click “BlackBerry User Login” t Login page There are 4 options: • “Need Assistance” • “Forgot Your Password” • “Login” • “Create New Account” – Click “Create New Account” for new subscriber – Login for ongoing email setup Read the terms and conditions and select: • “I Agree” – to proceed with account set up • “I Disagree” – to quit set up Type the login information • User ID: Type a login name for the BlackBerry Internet Service web site (may consist of a-z, 0-9 and underscore) • Choose Password: Type a personal login password for the BlackBerry Internet Service web site • Confirm Password: Retype your password • Language: In the drop-down list, click the language for the BlackBerry Internet Service web site • Click “Sign Up” • Account creation completed and user ID and password are set for next time login Note : You can change the password but the User ID cannot be changed once setup 2.0 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 Upgrade for Existing Users 2.1 Why upgrade? t Terms and conditions The new benefits of BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 include: • Unlimited email quota – You no longer have to worry about your mailbox getting full; instead your latest 30 days messages can be accessed anywhere • Wireless synchronization – You no longer have to manage the same email in two different locations. Emails that you read on your BlackBerry are marked as read in your originating email address Inbox. The same is true for deleting messages • Attachment viewing – You can open popular attachment formats and even powerpoint slideshows # • Quick and simple set up and management of your email account anywhere # Handheld software v4.1 or higher is required for powerpoint presentation in slideshow viewing t Account set up – Submit device information (PIN/ IMEI) • Submit your BlackBerry Handheld’s PIN/ IMEI • Select “Continue” 2.2 Important note • • Handheld and email backup is recommended for existing customers before upgrade Once the BlackBerry Internet Service has been upgraded to v2.0, it cannot be reverted to a lower version 5 6 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide 2.3 What is the difference after upgrade? 7 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide • • • • • 1) 2) 3) 4) • The BlackBerry Internet Service web mailbox is not available in v2.0. After the up- grade, you can manage all your email messages directly with your BlackBerry device Most of the BlackBerry Internet account settings are configurable from your BlackBerry device as well as BlackBerry Internet web site The following settings will be maintained after upgrade – Your login ID and password – Your email addresses – Integrated 3rd party email accounts – Auto signatures, friendly names, sent from address The following settings will NOT be maintained after upgrade – All email messages in the web mailbox – All email messages in the BlackBerry Handheld after 30 days – Filters setting – Auto BCC / Auto Reply addresses To take advantage of all BIS v2.0 enhancements, handheld software v4.1 or higher is required Download the latest Desktop Manager and latest handheld software from 3HK web site www.three.com.hk/blackberry/eng/ Install the Desktop Manager Software – Handheld backup is recommended before handheld software upgrade Install the handheld software on PC Place your BlackBerry Handheld in the cradle or connect the USB cable to your PC To start the upgrade of the BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0, you have to access the BlackBerry Internet Service web site – Go to www.three.com.hk/blackberry/eng/ – Click the “BlackBerry Web Login” – Read the Important Note and click “Next” – Make sure your important email messages on your device have been backed up. Messages older than 30 days are deleted from the BlackBerry Handheld (but not from your original email account) once upgraded – Click “Confirm Upgrade” – Enter the user ID and password – Read the instructions and follow the directions – Click “Yes” for upgrade – Click “No” for exit and return to your existing web administrative page 3.0 How to Use BlackBerry Internet Service 3.1 Add work email address t In the Email Address field, type the full email address (e.g. clydewarren@ispname.com) t In the “Password” and “Confirm Password” fields, type the password for your email account t Click “Next” O Add Microsoft Outlook work email address >> If you access your work email account using a desktop web browser t Select the “I can access my email account using a web browser (Outlook Web Access)” option t Click “Next” t In the Outlook Web access URL field, type the web address that you use to access the email account t Verify your email address t In the email account name field, type the mailbox name for your Outlook account. The mailbox name is the same as your login name, and it is usually case-sensitive t In the user name field, type your user name t Verify your password t Click “Next” >> If you access your work email account through Microsoft Outlook t Select the “I alway use Outlook to access my email account” option t Click “Next” t You need to download the Mail Connector on your desktop computer, click “Download”. Note: Please refer to “Mail Connector” section for details 2.4 Handheld requirements and handheld software upgrade procedures 2.5 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 upgrade procedures 8 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide 3.2 Add personal email address t In the “Email Address field”, type the full email address t In the “Password” and “Confirm Password” field, type BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide t Individual email account icons will appear on your BlackBerry Handheld the password for the email account Note: Handheld software v4.1 or above will support the individual email account icons t Click “Next” t You can choose either • “I use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express” • “I will provide the settings to add this email account” t Click “Next” 3.3 Delete email address t Select the “Delete” icon from the “Email Account” page t You will receive a confirmation pop-up when you delete the account. Click “OK” • If you select “I will provide the settings to add this email account” – Manually provide and input the POP/IMAP settings for this account and then click “Try again” Note: • If you do not know the protocol type, contact your email provider. • If the mail server name starts with “POP”, select the “POP” option. • If your wireless service provider supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, select the SSL check box to enable SSL encryption for the email messages that you retrieve from email account. t You will receive a confirmation message when the account has been successfully set up with BlackBerry Internet Service. Click “OK” integrated email accounts t The “Email Accounts” page will show successfully 9 10 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide 3.4 Create BlackBerry email address (optional) You might want to create a BlackBerry email address because you do not have an existing email account or you want to have additional email address. You can create a BlackBerry email address for sending and receiving email messages on your BlackBerry device. And because this account is completely wireless, you do not need to use a desktop computer to manage it. t To create a BlackBerry email address on the “Add 3.6 Change an email address or password If you change the address or password for an email address that you have added, you must update the BlackBerry Internet Service t On the Blackberry Internet Service web site, on the left pane, click “Email Accounts” t Click the “Edit” icon beside an email address t Perform one of the following actions: email account” page, on “would you like an email address for your BlackBerry”? t Click “Next” • In the “Email” field, type the new email address • In the “Password” field, type the new password t Click “Save” 3.7 Set reply-to email address t t t t 3.5 Send Service Books Service Books determine which services are available on your BlackBerry device. If you switch devices, or your BlackBerry device is not functioning properly, send the Service Books to your BlackBerry device. t To send the Service Books to your device, click “Send On the BlackBerry Internet Service web site, in the left pane, click “Email Accounts” Click the “Edit” icon beside the BlackBerry email address In the “Reply-To” field, type an email address Click “Save” 3.8 About auto signatures t t t t t Service Books” t You will receive a confirmation pop-up message On the BlackBerry Internet Service web site, in the left pane, click “Email Accounts” Click the “Edit” icon beside an email address In the “Signature” field, type an auto signature Click “Save” To delete your auto signature, leave the “Signature” field empty 3.9 Create an email filter t On the BlackBerry Internet Service web site, in the left pane, click “Email Accounts” t Click the “Filter” icon beside an email address t Perform one of the following filter settings: • If you have no filter, click “Click Here” • If you already have filters, click “Add Filter” t In the “Filter Name” field, type a filter name 11 12 BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide t Specify the following filter settings: BlackBerry Internet Service v2.0 User Guide • New mail arrives: Select this option if the filter only applies to new email messages • A high-priority mail arrives: Select this option if the filter only applies to email messages with high importance • From “field contains”: Type the email addresses that the filter should detect. To create a specific filter, type an email address. To create a filter with wider criteria, specify part of an email address t Set the following options: • Forward messages to handheld • Header only • Level 1 notification • Do not forward messages to handheld t Click “Add Filter” 3.13 Mail Connector The BlackBerry Mail Connector is designed to enable the BlackBerry Internet Service to retrieve email message from a Microsoft Outlook or IBM Lotus Notes work email account from behind a company’s firewall. If you need the Mail Connector, you are prompted to install it when you are adding a work email address to the BlackBerry Internet Service. When the Mail Connector installation is completed, a Mail Connector icon will appear in the notification area on your desktop computer. If you install the Mail Connector on your desktop computer, and you want your email messages to be redirected to your BlackBerry Handheld, you must make sure that the desktop computer remains on and has a constant connection to your company’s local area network (LAN). You can host a Mail Connector and share it with your colleagues, or you can share a colleague’s mail connector. Users who share your Mail Connector do not have access to your email messages, calendar, or contacts, nor do you have access to theirs. Start or stop the Mail Connector On your desktop computer, on the taskbar, click “Start” > “Programs” > “Mail Connector”.
