The World’s Richest and Largest Business Plan Competition Entrants to Receive Palo Alto Software

HOUSTON--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship (Rice Alliance) of Rice Uni
announced the opening of the registration period for its 2010 Rice Business Plan Competition. The Rice Alliance also announced th
registrants who submit an intent to compete by the Friday, February 5, 2010 deadline will receive a copy of PaloAlto Software’s B
Premier AcademicEdition software.

The world’s largest and richest intercollegiate MBA/graduate business plan competition, with more prize money, competing teams,
any other competition, will take place April 15-17, 2010. This year, more than $800,000 in total cash and prizes will be announced
Banquet on Saturday night, April 17, 2010, at the InterContinental Houston Hotel.

The 2010 competition will welcome 42 of the world’s top MBA/graduate schools to compete at Rice University in Houston, Texas,
judging panel of more than 200 venture capitalists, investors, and business executives. The competition will conclude with an Award
over 600 business leaders and executives will attend.

The total value of the grand prize is $325,000 and includes $225,000 equity investment, $20,000 additional cash and $80,000 in se
that participates at the competition is guaranteed to take home prize money. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded in the following
energy, clean technology, sustainability, space-related technology, life sciences, medical devices, information technology, nanotechn
entrepreneurship.

The 2009 competition included teams from top MBA schools such as Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, MIT, Stanford,
University of North Carolina, Babson, University of Texas, and Rice, as well as international teams from India, Thailand, the United
Canada. Through mentoring and networking, 85+ past competitors from the Rice Business Plan Competition have gone on to succe
companies, raise more than $150 million in funding, and build their businesses.
