overview of the Hand Held Technology (HHT) used for floor trade recordation of CBOT products. Step 2 Action Ensure the Network Interface Card (NIC) is working. The Link (Green) light, in the upper right corner of the NIC, flashes while looking for a connection. The Link (Green) light remains constant after a connection is found. Press this button. Result: Dell Axim turns on. A wireless computer icon appears in the lower right corner of the screen. If the icon is red, no connection has been established. If the icon is blue, a connection has been made and the device is ready for use. Note: Network Interface Card (NIC) slides into the slot on the top of the Dell Axim. 2.1.2 Re-setting the Dell Axim The Dell Axim has to be reset every morning or if off the Trading Floor for more than 10 minutes. Step Action 1 Using the stylus, press the button on the side panel of the Dell Axim. Result: Dell Axim resets. Hand Held Technology User Guide Hand Held Technology December 2005 Page 3 2.1.3 Dell Axim Batteries The Dell Axim has a rechargeable main battery and a lithium coin-cell backup battery. DO NOT LET THE BATTERY COMPLETELY DISCHARGE. 2.1.3.1 Charging the Dell Axim Batteries Step 1 Action Ensure the device is turned off. Place the device and the extra battery in the cradle. Result: “Dell” lights up blue on the cradle, lights on the On/Off button and Extra Battery Charge Indicator are orange while the batteries are charging. On/Off button and Extra Battery Indicator will turn green once batteries are fully charged. 2.1.3.2 Step 1 Changing the Dell Axim Battery Action Ensure that the device is off. On the back of the device, insert the tip of the stylus into the main battery lock. Step 3 Action Slide another battery up into the slot until a click is heard. Result: New battery is locked in place. Note: Do not store batteries where metal objects (such as keys or paper clips) could short-circuit the battery terminals. The resulting excessive current flow can cause extremely high temperatures and may damage the battery or cause fire or burns. 2 Slide the battery down and out of the slot. 2.2 2.2.1 Settings Caring for the Dell Axim and its Components 1. Keep the device away from excessive moisture and temperature extremes. Do not expose the device to liquids or precipitation. Avoid exposing the device to direct sunlight or ultraviolet light for extended periods of time. 2. Store the device in a protective case when not in use. Do not place anything on top of the device to prevent damage to the screen. 3. Clean the device by wiping the screen and exterior with a soft, damp cloth moistened only with water. 4. Only use the device stylus to prevent scratching the screen. Avoid scratching the surface of the screen and banging it against hard objects. 5. Batteries should always be re-charged. If the device will not be used for an extended period of time (2 days or more), it is imperative that the batteries be re-charged. Hand Held Technology User Guide Hand Held Technology December 2005 Page 4 2.2.2 Step 1 Dell Axim Battery and Backlight Settings Users can conserve battery power by adjusting the backlight of the Dell Axim. Action Using the Stylus, tap on Start in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Result: The Start menu opens. In the Start menu, tap on Settings. Step 4 Action In the System menu, locate the Power icon and tap on it. 2 Result: The remaining battery power for the main battery and backup battery display. 3 Result: The Settings menu opens. In the Settings menu, tap on System at the bottom of the screen. Result: The System menu opens. Note: Under the Control tab, all items should be un-checked. Under the Processor tab, the speed should not be changed. Hand Held Technology User Guide Hand Held Technology December 2005 Page 5 Step 5 Action Tap on Brightness at the bottom of the window and adjust the settings for the brightness of the backlight when the Dell Axim is running on battery power. Step 7 Action Close the Brightness window by tapping on OK in the upper right corner. Result: Brightness window closes. Close the Power window by tapping on OK in the upper right corner. Result: Power window closes. Close the Settings menu by tapping on the ‘X’ in the upper right corner. Result: Settings menu closes. 8 9 Note: Users can also tap on the Brightness icon in the System menu to open the Brightness window. 2.2.3 Dell Axim Automatic Turn-Off Users can conserve battery power by adjusting the automatic turn-off settings. The device will automatically turn off if not used in a specified amount of time. When users turn the device back on, the last screen displays. AUTOMATIC TURN-OFF IS NOT RECOMMENDED. Hand Held Technology User Guide Hand Held Technology December 2005 Page 6 2.2.4 Step 1 Screen Alignment Action Tap on Start in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Result: The Start menu opens. In the Start menu, tap on Settings. Step 4 Action In the System menu, locate the Screen icon and tap on it. 2 Result: Align Screen displays. Result: The Settings menu opens. In the Settings menu, tap on System at the bottom of the screen. 3 5 Tap on Align Screen button and follow the directions. Result: The System menu opens. Hand Held Technology User Guide Logging In December 2005 Page 7 3 3.1 Step 1 Logging In Open Internet Explorer Action Press the button in the lower right corner of the Dell Axim. Step 2 Action Tap on HHT Trade Manager. Press In Result: Internet Explorer opens, Windows Icon and Globe spin to show commands are updating and the Wireless Trading Portal window opens. Result: The HHT Trade Manager login window opens. 3.2 Writing Tools The Dell Axim is equipped with both a keyboard and a software tool called Calligrapher. Calligrapher is a handwriting recognition tool used to “write” information that gets transformed to text on the screen. It is highly recommended that the keyboard be used and that Calligrapher be used as little as possible. Hand Held Technology User Guide Logging In December 2005 Page 8 3.2.1 Step 1 Use the Keyboard to Login Action The Keyboard automatically opens when a user opens the Login screen. Follow steps 1 and 2 if the Keyboard does not open, otherwise Skip to Step 3. Tap on the arrow in the lower right corner of the screen. Step 4 Action Tap in the Password field and tap in the Password letter by letter using the keyboard. Note: The Password IS case-sensitive. Tap on ‘CAP’ to switch the keyboard from lowercase to uppercase letters and vice versa. Result: Password appears as asterisks. 2 Result: Pop-up menu displays. Tap on Keyboard. Result: The Keyboard window opens and the Keyboard icon displays in the lower right corner of the screen. Using the stylus, tap in the User ID field and tap in the User ID letter by letter using the keyboard. 5 Tap on the Start button. 3 Result: HHT Trade Manager Home Page opens. Note: The User ID IS NOT casesensitive. Hand Held Technology User Guide Logging In December 2005 Page 9 3.2.2 Step 1 Change Password Action Using the stylus, tap on Change Password in the HHT Trade Manager login window. Step 4 Action Tap in the New field and tap in a new password using the Keyboard. Note: The Password IS case-sensitive. Tap on ‘CAP’ to switch the keyboard from lowercase to uppercase letters and vice versa. Passwords must be at least 6 alphanumeric characters with at least 1 number or 1 letter (Example: TRAIN1 or T12345). 2 Result: The New Password window opens. Using the stylus, tap in the User ID field and tap in the User ID letter by letter using the keyboard. 3 Tap in the Password field and tap in the current Password letter by letter using the keyboard. 5 6 Tap in the Confirm field and tap in the new password using the Keyboard. Tap on the Change button. Note: Use the scrollbar on the right side in order to display the Change button. Result: The new password is accepted. Hand Held Technology User Guide HHT Trade Manager Home Page December 2005 Page 10 4 HHT Trade Manager Home Page User ID (Acronym) and Active Commodity Other Available Commodities HHT Trade Manager screen After a successful login, the HHT Trade Manager Home Page displays. The Home Page is a menu that enables users to access all areas of the HHT Trade Manager. Menu Function User ID and Active • Located in the upper left corner of the Home Page. Commodity • Displays the User ID, usually the trader’s acronym, and the current selected commodity. Trading Card • Ideally designed for electronic trade recordation of up to 4 single leg floor trades per card. • Enables users to input quantity, opposing broker’s acronym and house, price, contract month/year Check Trades • Enables users to review all trades for the day. Edit Trades • Enables users to review all trades for the day. • Enables users to edit quantity, price, opposing broker’s acronym and house and contract month/year. • Allows users to split quantities of a trade among multiple houses. • Enables users to delete trades. View Trades • Matched Trades displays users matched trades • Unmatched Trades displays users unmatched trades • Advisory Trades are sent by Clearing if 2 trades do not match because of a quantity or price error. An advisory trade displays the opposite side’s trade, so that the two parties can work out the discrepancy. • Deleted Trades displays users deleted trades • Broker Trades displays trades users did with a particular broker. Position • Continuously updates how many contracts users are long or short for a specific commodity. • Continuously updates how much money the users are up or down. • Enables user to print the selected information. Broker/House Picklist enables users to set-up 75 pre-defined broker/house buttons on the Trading Card. House Picklist enables users to set-up 6 pre-defined houses on the Trading Card. Spread Relationships enables users to set up 10 calendar spreads for the Trading Card. InterCommodity Spreads enables users to set up 9 inter-product spreads for the Trading Card. Located in the lower left corner of the Home Page. Displays other commodities that the user may trade. Tapping on the contract symbol will change the active commodity. Displays the HHT Trade Manager Logon Page. 5 Step 1 Trading Card Action Open the Trading Card by tapping on Trading Card in the HHT Trade Manager. Result Result: The Trading Card displays. Hand Held Technology User Guide Trading Card December 2005 Page 12 Trading Card Users can enter up to 4 trades per card. Once cards are sent to Clearing, users can always retrieve cards for editing. The first 4 calendar spreads defined in the Spread Relationships screen fill into the 4 commodity month/year fields of the trading lines. • XCL button turns yellow when tapped and Trading Card displays “Do Not Punch.” • Deletes trade on a sent card • Clears fields on an un-sent card Sends card to Clearing • Trade Accept Requests (TARS) button. • When manually linking, users have to accept, link or reject messages. • When autolinking, TARS are removed when incoming TAR is linked to an entered trade. • Turns red to alert user of an advisory message, i.e. quantity out, price out, don’t know • Turns red if a Trade Accept Request (red Trade button) has not been acknowledged and the trade has reached its initial timeout . Clears the quantity Moves the focus down to the next trade line on the card and fills the quantity field with the quantity from the trade line above it. Moves the focus to the Opposing Broker/House field and opens the Opposing Broker/House screen. Deletes the quantity 1 number at a time Pre-defined quantity buttons. Right arrow Left arrow 10, 20, etc Opposing Broker/House screen Tapping on the right arrow in the Quantity screen or tapping in an opposing broker/house field opens the Opposing Broker/House screen. Button HOU003, IV140, etc Up/Down arrow House Description Pre-defined opposing broker/house buttons. Scrolls through pages of pre-defined broker/house buttons. Opens a calculator keypad to input a house, choose from a list of predefined houses or split a trade with multiple houses. Enables users to write in the opposing broker/house and inputs this information into the trade line above. Clears information from the opposing broker/house override field Closes Opposing Broker/House screen. When users enter their first trade of the day, the price will automatically fill in with the previous day’s settlement price. Users can set the price before the open to fill in with a starting price other than the previous day’s settlement or they can always go back and edit the trade. Button 1, 2, 3, etc Override Field Description Calculator keypad Displays the price from the trade line above. • Displays new price as user taps on calculator keypad or +/Resets the price to the original price of what the user entered. Moves the focus down to the next trade line on the card and fills the price field with the price from the trade line above it. Backspace Increases/Decreases price 1 tick at a time Inputs new price into the trade line above and closes the Price screen. Closes Price screen. • Reset Down arrow Left arrow +/OK X Commodity Month/Year Screen Tapping in the commodity month/year field opens the Commodity/Month Year screen. Button N3, etc X Description Pre-defined commodity month/year buttons. Closes Commodity Month/Year screen. Action Tap on ‘?’ in the upper right corner. Step 2 Action Enter starting card number by tapping on keypad and tapping ‘OK.’ Result: Keypad opens. Result: Card number appears in upper right. 3 Tap red ‘X’ in lower right corner to close keypad. Hand Held Technology User Guide Trading Card December 2005 Page 17 5.2 Step 1 Enter a Trade Action Tap on ‘B’ to enter a buy or tap on ‘S’ to enter a sell. Step 3 Action Tap on right arrow to open pre-defined opposing broker/house buttons. Result: Pre-defined opposing broker/house buttons open. 2 Result: Fields change to blue and left most field displays ‘B’ or fields change to red and left most field displays ‘S’ and quantity buttons open. Enter quantity by tapping on keypad or tapping on pre-defined quantity button. Result: Quantity appears on Trading Card line. 4 Tap on pre-defined opposing broker/house button or use up/down arrow on right side to locate the opposing trader on another page. Result: Opposing Broker/House and price appear on Trading Card line and price buttons open. Hand Held Technology User Guide Trading Card December 2005 Page 18 Step 5 Action Change the price by tapping on the + or – or by tapping on the number buttons. After changing the price, tap the ‘OK’ button. Result: New Price displays on the Trading Card line and price buttons close. Step 6 Action Send card to Clearing by 1 of 3 ways: • Tap on the Send button on the Trading Card. • Press up on the Dell button at the bottom of the device • Push the scroll dial up on the side of the device. Note: When using the number buttons, tapping on 1 number will change the last number; tapping 2 numbers will change the last 2 numbers. Example: Price is 2296. Tapping on the 4 button changes the price to 2294. Example: Price is 2296. Tapping on the 4 and 2 button changes the price to 2242. Note: Users can choose to have the price field auto-fill by turning the feature on in the User Settings screen. If it is the first trade of the day, the auto-fill price is the previous day’s settlement price. If a user edits a price, the auto-fill price is the price of the previous trade recorded. Auto-fill enters the price and move down to the next trade line on the card. Result: Card is sent to Clearing, position updates and blank Trading Card appears. Hand Held Technology User Guide Trading Card December 2005 Page 19 5.3 Step 1 Enter Multiple Trades for the Same Quantity Action Tap on ‘B’ or ‘S’ button. Step 3 Action Tap on down arrow to move focus to the quantity field of the next trade line. Tap on it again to fill the quantity field with the same quantity as the trade above it. 2 Result: Fields change to blue and left most field displays ‘B’ or fields change to red and left most field displays ‘S’ and quantity buttons open. Enter quantity by tapping on keypad or tapping on pre-defined quantity button. Result: Quantity appears on Trading Card line. 4 Result: Focus moves to next trade line, fields change to blue or red and left most field displays ‘B’ or ‘S’ and quantity buttons remain open. Repeat step 3 to fill in the quantity fields of the remaining trade lines with the quantity from the trade line above it. 5 Result: Quantity for all trades is the same. Send card to Clearing by 1 of 3 ways: • Tap on the Send button on the Trading Card. • Press up on the Dell button at the bottom of the device • Push the scroll dial up on the side of the device. Step 4 Action Enter quantity by tapping on keypad or tapping on pre-defined quantity button. 2 Result: Fields change to blue or red and left most field displays ‘B’ or ‘S’. Enter quantity by tapping on keypad or tapping on pre-defined quantity button. 5 Result: Quantity appears on Trading Card line. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to fill in the quantity fields of the remaining trade lines. 3 Result: Quantity appears on Trading Card line. Tap on down arrow to move focus to the quantity field of the next trade line. Result: Focus moves to next trade line, fields change to blue or red and left most field displays ‘B’ or ‘S’ and quantity buttons remain open. 6 Send card to Clearing by 1 of 3 ways: • Tap on the Send button on the Trading Card. • Press up on the Dell button at the bottom of the device. • Push the scroll dial up on the side of the device. Step 3 Action Tap on B/S button with down arrow to open the B/S buttons and move the focus to the next trade line. Result: Fields change to blue and left most field displays ‘B’ and quantity buttons open. 2 Enter quantity by tapping on keypad or tapping on pre-defined quantity button. 4 Tap on ‘S’ button. Result: Quantity appears on Trading Card line. Result: Fields change to red and left most field displays ‘S’ and quantity buttons open. Examples of XCL trades would be putting in a starting position in the morning or entering trades filled by a broker on the trader’s behalf. Step 1 Action Tap the ‘XCL’ button. Step 4 Action Tap in the Price field. Change the price by tapping on the + or – or by tapping on the number buttons. Result: Price displays on the Trading Card line and price buttons close. Note: When using the number buttons, tapping on 1 number will change the last number; tapping 2 numbers will change the last 2 numbers. Example: Price is 2296. Tapping on the 4 button changes the price to 2294. Example: Price is 2296. Tapping on the 4 and 2 button changes the price to 2242. Result: “Do Not Punch” appears as a watermark across the card. Tap on ‘B’ to enter a buy or tap on ‘S’ to enter a sell. Result: Fields change to blue and left most field displays ‘B’ or fields change to red and left most field displays ‘S’ and quantity buttons open. Enter quantity by tapping on keypad or tapping on pre-defined quantity button. Note: If is important to fill in a price if the trader wants the day’s P&L to be correct. Result Result: The Check Trades screen displays. The Check Trades screen enables traders to review all trades for the day and provides a means of marking which trades have been reviewed. Checking a trade is mainly for the trader’s benefit and does not affect a trade’s submission to Clearing. Traders can check trades, as well as edit the opposing trader’ s house number. Trades can be reviewed by time bracket and/or by checked or unchecked trades. Result Result: The Position screen displays. The Position screen enables traders to see how long or short they are for each contract month. Similar to the Footer in the Trading Card, Position tracks a running total and displays detailed information on each month’s trade history. Traders can display all trades for a specific month, as well as clear out their position at the end of the day or in the morning before the open. Step 2 Action To change the time bracket, tap on the left or right black circle to display the appropriate time bracket and tap Go. Result: Displ? field turns black and Position displays all trades for the specified commodity month for the current time bracket . Result: Buys are blue and sells are red for the specified time bracket with B/S, Quantity, Price, Broker Acronym, House, Commodity Month/Year and Card Number. 9.2 Clear Out Position A trader’s overall position is stored on the HHT server and remains on the trader’s HHT Trade Manager indefinitely. Users can, however, clear out their positions at the end of the day or in the morning before the open. Step 1 Action Tap in a Del? field to select the position to be cleared and tap on the Delete button. Step 2 Action Tap on the OK button to clear out the position. When traders receive their devices, these fields will already be filled in with the lead month and subsequent back months. Settings can be changed at the user’s discretion. Continue Step 3 until all of the appropriate trades are on the Trading Card. Use the Up/Down arrow to scroll through the trades in the panel. One of the traders manually links the 2 trades by tapping on the Trade button. In this example, the seller will link the 2 sides of the trade. A list of trades already entered into the HHT appear. Choose the trade to link by tapping on the B or S in the Link window and tap OK. Step 7 Action Go back to the card with the linked trade by tapping on the down area on the right of the screen. 6 If both traders try to link the trade, a message appears on the screen. Result: Initially, the trading line displays “Linked” and then displays “Matched.” Note: Watermark behind trade says “Linked.” Note: In this example, the seller was quicker than the buyer at linking the 2 trades, so the buyers’s device displayed this message. Note: Watermark behind trade says “Matched.” Hand Held Technology User Guide Messages December 2005 Page 63 11.3.1 Step 1 Time Outs Action If neither the buyer nor the seller, manually link the trade, the ADV button will turn red on both the buyer’s and seller’s HHT device. In this example, the buyer’s messages are displayed. The buyer and seller have entered the trade and the buyer has ignored the red Trade button. The first ADV message is telling the buyer to acknowledge the red Trade button. Step 2 Action The buyer and seller have entered the trade and the seller has ignored the red Trade button. The second ADV message is telling the buyer that the seller has not acknowledged the red Trade button. Note: OK closes the ADV window and Go displays the card with the trade. Step 3 Action Tap the trade in the panel. Result: Trade appears on Trading Line. Result: Trade button on the buyer’s and seller’s HHT device turn red. Note: This is the seller’s device. 2 One of the traders manually links the 2 trades by tapping on the Trade button. Tap Delete to choose a reason for rejecting the trade. Result: Advisory Message box displays the rejected trade information, the commodity and time bracket with Reason for Rejection. Result: Reason for Rejection panel closes and trade is deleted from Trading Card. Buyer can tap OK to close the Advisory Message or GO to display the Trading Card with the trade in question to make the necessary changes. Step 3 Action Buyer and Seller enter a trade with all critical match fields filled into their HHTs. Result: Trade button on the buyer’s and seller’s HHT device turn red momentarily and trades are linked and matched. Initially, the trading line displays “Linked” and then “Matched.” 2 Tap in the Auto-Link Trades box to place a checkmark and tap Save Changes. Note: Watermark behind trade says “Linked.” Result: Both sides of a trade will automatically link so long as all critical match fields (B/S indicator, quantity, opposing trader and price) are filled in correctly on both trades. Note: Watermark behind trade says “Matched.” Hand Held Technology User Guide Messages December 2005 Page 67 11.6 Step 1 Trades and Cards with Errors Action When an error is detected on a card, the Advisory (ADV) button turns red. Step 3 Action Tapping GO, displays the card with the trade in error. Tapping OK, acknowledges the error and closes the Trade Rejected window. 2 Tap on the ADV button. 4 Result: The watermark, ERROR TRADE, displays on cards with errors. The field with the error is highlighted yellow. In the example above, the opposing broker/firm field is highlighted to show 999 is not a valid firm. Edit the trade and re-send it. The watermark will remain on the card if it is not corrected. Result: A TRADE REJECTED window opens, which specifies if an entered trade has a bad quantity, acronym, firm, price and/or month. In the example, the ADV states that there is a trade with a bad opposite firm.
