This online application is called the PBU Learning Portal, and is also known as a Learning Management System (LMS). The PBU Learning Portal provides employees easy access to all training programs offered through PB, including online courses and instructor-led events. The LMS is supported by PBU, staffed by a small team that works closely with enterprise programs, the Career Development Committee, HR, managers, and service line leaders to support the LMS and provide training development and instructional design services. The PBU team includes: Kim Holcomb, Manager, PB University Heather Horner, Global Learning and Development Consultant Greg Metzger, Global Learning and Development Consultant Corey Peterson, LMS Administrator and Customer Support Employees may contact PBU for support by emailing pbu@pbworld.com. Locating the PBU Learning Portal The PBU Learning Portal is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, via any computer with Internet access. A link to the portal is available on the PBWORLDNET Intranet under Departments>PB University, or you may access it directly via the following URL: https://learning.syntrio.com/pbworld Note: For easy access, you may want to: • Save the URL to your favorites. • Email the URL and a copy of this guide to your home email address, to access the portal from home if you choose. Turn Off PopUp Blockers Be sure to turn off any pop-up blocking software or toolbars before accessing the PBU Learning Portal. This will ensure that all windows display properly. Continued on next page PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 1 Accessing the PBU Learning Portal, Continued Logging In To log in to the PBU Learning Portal, follow the steps below. Step 1 Action Access this link: https://learning.syntrio.com/pbworld The PB University home page displays. 2 Type your User ID and Password into the User ID and Password fields, and click Sign On. Your User ID is your pbworld.com email address. Your first-time Password is training. You will be prompted to change your password when logging in for the first time at the Password change Screen for First Time Users. Continued on next page PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 2 Accessing the PBU Learning Portal, Continued Logging In (continued) Step 3 Action Type a new password in the New Password and Confirm Password fields, and click Change. A confirmation screen displays and you are logged in to the PBU Learning Portal. Forgot Your Password? The Learning Portal offers an automated password retrieval feature. If you are a returning user and you forgot your password, follow the steps below to retrieve your password. Step 1 Action Click the Forgot your Password? Click here link located under the log-in section. A prompt screen displays. (continued) Step 2 Action Type your pbworld.com email address in the User ID field and click OK. If… Your User ID is located Your User ID is not located Then… Your password will be emailed to you automatically. A screen will display indicating that you are not in the system. If you receive this message, please email PBU@pbuworld.com for further assistance. PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 4 In-Progress Training, Training Assignments, and Recommended Training My Home The Learning Portal incorporates a very simple user interface. Once you log into the Learning Portal, you are presented with a My Home page that includes a series of links for easy navigation. Click the My Home link in the left navigation bar to return to this page at any time. In-Progress Training This section contains links to e-learning classes you are currently taking, or instructor-led classes in which you are enrolled. At the PB University home page, click the In-Progress Training link to access the In-Progress Training page. Continued on next page PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 5 In-Progress Training, Training Assignments, and Recommended Training, Continued Training Assignments You may be assigned training from time to time by your manager or supervisor, or you may be assigned mandatory compliance training that you are required to complete by a certain due date. You can locate your assigned training easily in the Training Assignments section. This area will also indicate the deadline, if any, for the training assignment(s). At the PB University home page, click the Training Assignments link to access your assigned training. Recommended Training Training programs may be recommended for you based on your development plan or job role. You can locate any recommended training programs in the Recommended Training section. Recommended training programs do not have a set due date associated with them. At the PB University home page, click Recommended Training to access your recommended training. PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 6 My Transcript and My Profile My Transcript The LMS keeps a record of all training that you complete, both online and in the classroom. Your prior training history with PB will be included in our LMS over the next few months. It is our goal to have your training history updated so that your Employee Profile in HR matches the training transcript in the LMS. To assist in this process, please update your Training Profile in Employee Self Service (ESS) with any external training completed outside LMS. To access your transcript, click My Transcript in the left navigation menu. Continued on next page PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 7 My Transcript and My Profile, Continued Course Evaluations, Details, and Certificates The My Transcript page also provides links to course evaluations, details and certificates, as shown in the example screen below. Each of these is described in further detail in the following table. Item Evaluation Description Every course has an evaluation that you should complete. The evaluation allows you to rate the course as it relates to the relevance of the content, how it is applicable to your job, the presentation of the material, instructor performance, etc. We appreciate you taking the time to complete these evaluations so that we can address areas for improvement as well as offer more programs that you identify as important to your job and development. You should receive an automated email with a direct link to the evaluation once you have completed a course. You may also access a course evaluation by clicking the eval icon in the My Transcript page. The course details show information about the course you completed, such as time you spent, score, etc. Once you complete an online course, you may print a certificate by clicking the cert icon in the My Transcript page. You may want to print your certificates and keep them in your personal folder for review with your manager during the development review process. Your manager may also view your training transcript in the LMS. Continued on next page Details Certificate of Completion PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 8 My Transcript and My Profile, Continued My Profile Your profile information is taken from HR data in PB’s Oracle database. If you find that your profile information is incorrect, please review or change through ESS. ESS allows you to view or change personal information including your: address, marital status, phone numbers, contacts, professional information (professional association, education, licenses, certifications, languages, etc.). Please email HRIS Support if you need assistance with ESS. These adjustments will be reflected in the LMS when HR updates our records. Updates from HR are received on a weekly basis. To access your profile, click My Profile in the left navigation menu. PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 9 Catalog and Class Calendar Introduction To locate and register for any instructor-led or Live Web training events, use the Catalog feature. This includes a search feature and a Class Calendar feature. Click Catalog in the left navigation menu to access the catalog search page. Catalog Search To search the catalog, follow the steps below. Step 1 Action Typing a search parameter in either the Code or Title or Keyword Search fields. Example: To search for a course on communication skills, you might type “communication” in the Keyword Search field. If desired, narrow the search parameters by selecting additional criteria in the Category and Delivery Type drop-down boxes. Click Search. The Catalog Listing screen displays the search results. 2 3 Continued on next page PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 10 Catalog and Class Calendar, Continued Catalog Search (continued) Step 4 Action Click Select (the checkmark icon) next to the course name to view the course details. The course details will display. 5 Note: The details screen will vary depending on the type of course displayed. Remember that pop-up blockers must be turned off for the course to display properly. Enroll in the desired course. If the course is… An online course An instructor-led course Then… Click Take Course. The course will launch in a separate window. • Click Classes. A list of available classes will display. • Click To Enroll to enroll in the desired course. • You will receive an email confirming your enrollment, and an email reminder a few days prior to the class. Continued on next page PB University Learning Portal User Guide v1.0 12/21/2007 11 Catalog and Class Calendar, Continued Class Calendar If you know the date of the instructor-led class you wish to take, you can use the Class Calendar feature to locate it and enroll. Follow the steps below to search for a class using the Class Calendar. Step 1 Action From the Catalog home page, click the Class Calendar. The Class Calendar page displays the current month’s calendar. In the above screen example, there is only one class available: NH101 on July 23. The Class Listing screen displays the class details. 3 Do one of the following: If you want to… Enroll in the class shown on the screen Then… Click To Enroll. You will receive an email confirming your enrollment, and a reminder email a few days prior to the class. Click All Classes. If available, additional class offerings will display. Search for additional class dates and times 4 It is recommended that you enter the class into your Outlook calendar. The system does not do this automatically for you at this time.
