					                               Marketing Assistant
The Marketing Department is responsible for generating over £1 million in ticket sales
each year and maintaining the high profile of the Almeida Theatre’s brand.

The Marketing Assistant will work in a busy but small Marketing department at a locally,
nationally and internationally recognised theatre. As part of a team of three he/she will
support the Head of Marketing & Sales in all aspects of marketing the theatre, and
delivering the Marketing & Audience Development Strategy.

The successful candidate will have solid experience in marketing and an enthusiasm for
theatre. He/she must be able to work well as part of a larger team, will have excellent
interpersonal skills and an ability to manage a number of projects at any one time.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities

Managing production of Almeida Theatre Publications
    Responsible for production of theatre programmes and scripts; including liaison
     with cast, creative teams, agents, publishers and internal teams
    Sourcing or commissioning editorial content and background information and
     ensuring permissions / copyright is cleared prior to production
    Management of graphic designer and print process & associated deadlines
    Management of the advertising process, monitoring sales and stock levels and
     achieving income targets

Photography
    In liaison with each director, commission production photography for Almeida
      Theatre productions
    Negotiation of deadlines, fees and delivery of rehearsal/production pictures and
      front of house boards with photographers
    Reformatting images in photoshop for marketing uses – eg online, email
    Maintaining photography library within internal systems

Press & Publications
    Distribution of all Almeida reviews and press coverage and cut all National
      papers on a daily basis
    Occasionally, act as an internal point of contact and assist the Press
      representative with interviews liaising with journalists, actors and creative teams

General Marketing Activity
   Liaison with cast, creative teams and agents to obtain current artist biographies
      and photographs or publicity materials
   Updating this information on www.almeida.co.uk and within internal systems
   Responsible for creating front of house materials
   Supporting the Head of Marketing & Sales & Marketing Officer in producing
      marketing materials, proof reading copy and breifing designers and printers

       Assisting with all elements of marketing activity including, but not limited to
        advertising, direct mail, print distribution, emails and promotions
       Jointly responsible for the accuracy of all marketing communications and
        maintaining the Almeida Theatre brand at all times
       Assisting Head of Marketing & Sales in evaluating all marketing initiatives and
        sales patterns both on and offline

Other
        Attendance at all Marketing team and inter-departmental Communications
         meetings, take and distribute minutes
        Monitoring daily sales against activity, and input on marketing systems
        Acting as first point of contact for the marketing team in collecting information
         from creative teams and agents
        General maintenance of press cuttings, photography and marketing archive
        General telephone and occasional press duties as required, in agreement with
         Head of Marketing & Sales
        Occasional holiday or emergency cover for administration or Box Office teams
         in agreement with Head of Marketing & Sales
        Any other reasonable duties required by Head of Marketing & Sales

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

   At least one year’s experience of working in a marketing position
   Absolute attention to detail
   Excellent written and verbal English
   Ability to manage a number of differing projects
   Ability to use Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access at a good level
   Diplomatic and able to work effectively under pressure
   Interest in theatre/arts industries


Desirable Criteria

   Experience of working within an arts organisation
   A qualification in English/Theatre/Marketing
   Experience in using computerised box office systems for marketing purposes
   Understanding of customer relationship management and importance of data
   Brand awareness and management
   Knowledge of Quark / Photoshop
   Experience in website content management systems
   Knowledge of current and relevant legislation such as Data Protection Act, Disability
    Discrimination Act


RENUMERATION & HOURS

   Salary Range: circa £18,000 dependent on experience
   Hours: Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm with additional hours as required as necessary
   Holiday: 20 days a year rising to 25 after two years’ service
   Pension: 3% contribution, if matched by the employee, after 6 months service

   Location: This position is based at the Almeida Theatre’s administration offices at
    108 Upper Street, London, N1 1 QN.
   Probation: This appointment is subject to a minimum three-month probationary
    period
