WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS PROGRAM?
1. THE FORMAT: Each agency will get a private and confidential recruiting session (no other agencies will be present) to demonstrate their value proposition to pre-qualified candidates. We expect many quality experienced candidates to be employed. They won’t show up to a public job fair…but we will recruit them to our private sessions.
2. THE PROCESS: We partner with each recruiting organization months before the event to source resumes on a rolling basis. There is a dual screening process. Candidates select which recruiting organizations they wish to submit their resume to and each recruiting sponsor pre selects which candidates they will invite to their private session. Another major difference with a job fair is that you know exactly who will attend your private session as each candidate has been prescreened and formal invitations have been extended and accepted. No surprises when you show up at the event.
3. OUR ABILITY TO ATTRACT HIGH QUALITY EXPERIENCED CANDIATES FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS. We do this through partnerships and affiliations and by leveraging BDI’s diversity job candidate database from past events. We will reach thousands of qualified local communications professionals via our extensive promotional outreach and partnerships with the leading associations and organizations in the Chicago region and leading national organizations. Our program will be promoted through all of their communications which will result in a robust level of participation from quality experienced candidates.

Background Over the past year Business Development Institute (BDI) has produced a number of nationwide Advertising Industry Diversity Job Fair and Leadership Conferences in New York, San Francisco and Boston in partnership with Adrants, The Ad Club of New York, The Ad Club of New England, Advertising Week 2007, AAAA MAIP Alumni, AAF Mosaic Programs, Bay Area Interactive Group (BIG), NYU, The Academy of Art University, and Boston University. Through our events and programs we have connected over 1,500 minority job candidates with over 100 advertising agencies and brands. Experienced Hire Diversity Recruiting Program held during the week of September 24-28th 2007 (New York Advertising Week) in Midtown Manhattan on Madison Avenue, was a first of its kind initiative, produced and organized to provide companies in the communication industry an opportunity to recruit top level diversity candidates through a unique and unprecedented format and design. AdEx was a private and exclusive program which connected over 250 experienced diversity professionals with 17 leading companies via private recruiting sessions. Recruiting companies and professional job candidates have expressed their satisfaction in participating in this uniquely designed program, which addressed the needs of professional diversity recruiting. About the Program Organizers & Partners:
Since 1973, the American Association of Advertising Agencies' Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) has helped jumpstart the careers of more than 1,800 African-American, Asian-American, Latino-American, NativeAmerican, multiracial and multiethnic aspiring advertising professionals. Each year, undergraduate and graduate students are selected for a 10-week paid summer internship at an AAAA member advertising agency. Students gain practical work experience, establish key industry contacts, and perhaps most importantly, become better prepared to land a full-time job in advertising when they graduate. At the same time, the program gives advertising agencies a costeffective way to identify and recruit talented multicultural students.
