Student Responsibilities
This is a business class; you will be expected to conduct yourself in a business-like manner. The
following rules and regulations will be strictly enforced:
1. Materials must be brought to class every day:
A. Textbook
B. Binder kept for this class only
C. Paper/notebook
D. Pen, pencils, and eraser
E. Positive attitude
2. Participation:
Students are expected to participate in class discussions. The teacher will raise or lower a
student’s grade based on the amount and appropriateness of a student’s participation. Student
participation is required and students will be called on to answer questions. Student participation
is integral to our class and your grade.
3. Grades:
Tests/Quizzes = 40% 90% + = A
Assignments/Homework = 40% 80-89% = B
Class participation = 20% 70-79% = C
60-69% = D
4. Behavior:
A. No food or drinks allowed at anytime in the classroom. Water will be allowed in a closed
container that must be kept on the floor.
B. Show RESPECT for adults and fellow students. Inappropriate language/behavior will not
be tolerated. Each student is expected to treat every student, classroom aid, and teacher
with respect. IT WILL BE RETURNED!
C. Absences and tardies have an extremely negative effect on the participation points. Every
student must be in their seat ready to work 15 seconds after the bell rings. Tardies and
absences will result in a reduction of participation points.
D. The teacher dismisses the class, not the bell. Do not gather belongings or leave your seat
until instructed to do so.
E. No electronic devices (i.e. cell phones, CD players, etc), cosmetics, or inappropriate
reading material shall be used during class time.
5. Submission of student work:
A. Most class time will be spent in groups. Some assignments will be turned in for an overall
group grade and other times assignments will be graded individually. Team leaders will be
assigned for one-month durations and everyone will be a leader at least once during the
year. Team leaders are responsible for clean work areas of group members and turning in
group work.
B. Assignments must be submitted on time to receive full credit. Assignments submitted one
day late will lose 25% of the total points earned. Two days late will lose 50% of the points
earned. Anything more than two days late will not be accepted.
C. It is YOUR responsibility to ask for missing work due to absents. You can check with a
team member or me to get an assignment. You will get the same number of days you were
absent to make up the work. (For example: if you miss one day, you have until the day
after you return to make up the work)
D. You must make up exams or quizzes the day you return from an absent either before or
after school or during nutrition break. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
THE ABOVE POLICIES & PROCEDURES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
