                               Director of Marketing & Communications

Position
The Director of Marketing & Communications oversees L.A. Area Chamber’s marketing and communications
department. The Director of Marketing & Communications reports to the Senior Vice President of Membership &
Operations. The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for the department budget and supervises
staff including: the Senior Interactive Marketing Manager, the Marketing Communications Manager, the
Communications Manager and the Graphic Designer. This is a salaried exempt position with full benefits, including
paid sick leave, vacation, 401(k) participation, health, vision and dental.
Job Description
 Produce, manage and implement the Chamber’s annual marketing and communications plan including branding,
   promotions, media and online strategies and tactics for the organization.
 Work closely with the President & CEO and public policy executives to articulate the Chamber’s public policy
   agenda and amplify advocacy efforts at the local, state and federal level.
 Edit and write press releases, speeches, marketing materials and articles for the Chamber’s print publications,
   blog, email newsletters and Web site.
 Develop and implement the Chamber’s media strategy and maintain relationships with external media that result
   in the Chamber being recognized as “the voice of business” in the region.
 Lead the Chamber’s online strategy and oversee day-to-day management of the Chamber’s Web site, blog and
   Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter presence.
 Direct the production of the Chamber’s publications including: the annual magazine and member directory Los
   Angeles Business; The VOICE print quarterly newsletter; and eNewsletters L.A. Business This Week, Inside
   International Trade and Forward Motion.
 Oversee the production of all printed communications produced by the Chamber including sales and marketing
   materials, event signage and other print collateral pieces.
 Oversee advertising in the Chamber’s print publications, and manage external advertising opportunities.
 Manage the Chamber’s brand strategy and brand assets.
 Demonstrate a commitment to the Chamber mission in all work produced.
Requirements
 Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism or related field. Masters degree a plus.
 7+ years experience in marketing and communications preferred.
 Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must demonstrate mastery in writing press releases, op-eds,
   news articles, executive speeches and marketing collateral (provide samples).
 Ability to work professionally and effectively with C-level executives
 Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines in fast-paced office environment.
 Understanding of Los Angeles business and political markets and established media relationships a plus
