How I Make Money On eBay by Matthew Speer A how to guide to make more money selling and save more money buying About me How to buy on eBay Tips to minimize the risk of buying on eBay How to sell on eBay What to sell Getting started I have been buying and selling on eBay for more than 5 years. In that time I’ve become a power seller who regularly clears well in excess of $10,000 a month…and I only work an average of an hour a day! No joking here. I generally work only an hour a day and usually only three or four days out of the week. If I need to make more money than that, I simply work an extra hour or two…a week! How do I do it? Well it took me most of the five years to learn, test and refine my methods. My methods are so simple and easy to learn you will ask yourself how come you didn’t think of them! I am now going to share them with you! Why am I doing it? Have I gotten bored and want out? No! Am I worried that by giving you my methods I will lose sales? No, there are so many new users to eBay that sign up each and everyday- literally thousands, that I believe there are enough customers for all of us! In this E-book I will show you how to buy and sell. eBay is a great place to sell and make money, but if you know the tricks to successful selling, you can just reverse them and be a successful buyer too! It’s no secret that eBay has become the largest online marketplace in the world. eBay is a worldwide marketplace that has something to offer everyone. No matter what you are interested in, you can BUY and SELL it on eBay. With people constantly searching the internet and eBay, you are able to reach a massive audience. The biggest obstacle any new business has, whether they are a brick and mortar store or an online store, is getting their products in front of the customers! It’s the customers who decide whether a business will make it or not. Without customers willing to purchase your products, your business will not succeed. Some of the greatest business ideas in the world have gone belly up because of a lack of customers. Think of the following example. Yes, it’s simple and not realistic, but it gets the point across.
You have a ice cube selling business. You set up a stand in the middle of the desert. You can charge almost anything you want to weary travelers looking for a relief from the heat. The travelers (customers) keep you in business by continually buying your ice cubes. Now, take the same exact business but move it north to Alaska. Now, will you still succeed? No. Ice cubes are not an in demand item in Alaska. You will have no customers to buy your product and therefore your business venture will be very short lived. So you see, you need to get your products in front of as many people as possible. With the advent of the internet, this became easier. Now with eBay, it is easier than ever before! BUT, getting the product in front of the customer (I refer to these as views) is only half the battle. Once the customer sees your product, you need to convert the views into sales. In the example above, many Alaskans would probably come and look at your ice cube selling stand, but only to see if you were crazy, not to buy. So just getting “views” is a start but you need to convert those “views”. How to Buy on eBay Buying on eBay can be scary and risky for many people. If you know what to look for and the right questions to ask, you can minimize that risk and fear. Online purchasing has become safer over the years. In my opinion, it is more safe to buy a product online than it is to eat dinner at a restaurant. How? Think of the last time you went out for a nice relaxing dinner. Did you pay with a credit/debit card? When you signed your copy of the receipt and left, what happened to the receipt? Did you leave it on the table in plain sight with your account number easily seen? One of the easiest and most common forms of credit card theft takes place at restaurants. Some steps have been taken to reduce this (no longer showing the full account number on the receipt for instance) but just a few short years ago your name and account number was in plain view for anyone to see. Buying online is much more safe than paying at a restaurant. Before completing a transaction, check your browsers lower right hand corner. Look for the security lock. If you see it, that means your info is being encrypted and can’t be read by potential thieves. Of course nothing is failsafe, but it is much easier to swipe a receipt lying on an unoccupied restaurant table than it is to intercept data online AND have the technology to break the encryption. So you see, the risk is there, but it is very minimal. So, how do you successfully buy on eBay? First it’s important to know what types of listings you are looking at.
Auctions: These are the most fun and what most people think of when they think of eBay. An auction is run for a set amount of time (anywhere from 1 day to 10 days). Users can bid on the item the entire time it is listed. Many people like the challenge and fun an auction can bring. But it’s that same challenge and fun that can drive up the price. You see, it does the buyer no good at all to bid on an item early. If you see an item that you’d like to acquire, click the link that says “watch this item”. Then you can login to your eBay account whenever you’d like and see what the current price is. The ONLY time you should bid on an item that you want is when there is less than 30 seconds to go in the listing. At that time, you should bid the MAXIMUM value that you are willing to pay. (Please keep in mind that depending on your connection speed, you may need a little more than 30 seconds to bid) If you bid on an item when there are several days or even hours left, you artificially run up the price that you or the winning bidder will have to pay. Of course the seller loves this (we’ll discuss this later though). So the key is to bid at the last second and hope that no one else bids after you. Bidding the maximum you are willing to pay takes any disappointment away if you lose. This is because in order to have won, you’d have had to bid a higher amount than you wanted to. Do not bid above your self imposed maximum. This leads us to eBay’s proxy bid. What are eBay proxy bids? Basically this is eBay’s version of a sniper service. The way it works is that you put in your maximum bid and then eBay will automatically bid for you anytime someone tries to outbid you. So if your maximum bid is $100, but your current bid is $10, the next person who bids, lets say $15, will be automatically be outbid by your proxy bid. eBay will keep outbidding anyone that tries to outbid you until your maximum of $100 is reached. If an auction ends in a tie, the person who put their bid in earliest wins. So the earlier you make your maximum (proxy) bid, the better…but this goes against my earlier point to only bid at the last second. So, do you place your maximum bid as early as possible or wait and bid at the last second? I wait. Again, this is because early bids drive up the price. Sellers love this but it can cost you plenty of money. Ultimately it is up to you to bid early or wait but I strongly suggest bidding at the last possible moment you can. Also, always factor the shipping price into what you are willing to pay. Some sellers, charge abnormally high shipping costs to make up for poor auction prices. Always beware of this.
What happens if you can’t be in front of you computer when the auction ends? Use a sniper service. Just go to Google and search “auction sniper”. Basically you input the item number of the auction that you are watching and the highest amount you are willing to pay. Then the sniper service will bid on your behalf at the last second. Many auctions are “sniped” this way. I’ve lost some auctions to snipers as well, but that’s how it goes some times. Auctions can sometimes cause buyers remorse if they get caught up in a bidding war and go above their pre-set limit of what they are willing to pay. This is why I recommend setting a limit and NEVER GOING ABOVE IT! Buy it Nows: These are different than auctions in that the price is fixed by the seller. This is more of an e-commerce type transaction. If you see an item that you like and it is a “buy it now”, you simply click the “buy it now” button and then pay just as if you had won an auction. These can be appealing for several reasons. First, there is no worrying whether or not you outbid someone else. Second, you decide if the price is in your budget. No getting caught up in the “game” of bidding and competing for an item. You need to realize that the more you “compete” for an auction, the less money you will have. Third, you do not have to wait for the auction to end. Once you buy it now and pay, the seller can ship the item right away. There is nothing worse than watching an item for a week only to lose it in a last second bid. Great deals can be had with “buy it nows”. Many times sellers will set an attractive buy it now price just to move items out of inventory. I have been known to do this many times throughout the year when I have too much stock and too little space! Best Offers: These are listed in conjunction with ”buy it now” listings. I tend to dislike “best offers” though. In theory they are great. But when you list something for a “buy it now” of $100, you will undoubtedly get someone to offer you $5 for the item. This is more of an annoyance to me than anything else. I do not offer “best offers” in my listings. For me, it’s not worth the annoyance of saying no to the high numbers of low ball offers you will receive. Still, as a buyer, you are free to offer anything you’d like for an item. It never hurts to ask and you never know what the seller will say. So, you now know the different types of listings, but when should you buy?
There are many keys to getting yourself a deal on eBay. One of them is to know which days are the best days to end auctions for the seller and for the buyer. Thursday and Sunday evenings are prime selling times for sellers, so we’ll discuss that later. But what about buying? Listings that end on Friday or Saturday night are great. Also, just about any morning bargains can be found. Monday through Thursdays from 11am until about 3pm are great times to look for deals as well. The reason? These times are when the least amount of people are on eBay looking for deals. So you will be bidding against fewer people, which means the overall winning bid is lower on average. This doesn’t always work with the advent of the previously mentioned sniping software, but you can still use these times to your advantage a high percentage of the time. Another great way to get an item cheap is to search for common misspellings. Lets say you are looking for a Holiday Barbie Doll. Not everyone, even eBay sellers, have the best spelling skills. So search for “Holday Barbie Doll” or “Holiday Barby Doll”. It doesn’t work everytime but when it does, you just might be the only person to bid as everyone else was searching for a “Holiday Barbie Doll” Common misspellings can be a goldmine! Another great tip is to search the eBay homepage instead of a specific category. Lets say you want a Rawlings Baseball Glove. You can search under the category- Sporting Goods, Baseball, Gloves and find many listings. But the problem is everyone else who is looking for a baseball glove will search just like you. So now there are many users bidding on the same item. Now, instead search for “Rawlings Baseball Glove” at the eBay home page. A large majority of the results will be in the category- Sporting Goods, Baseball, Gloves category BUT there will be a couple that will be mis-categorized. Maybe the user accidentally put them under basketball. Or even cell phones. You can then bid on the item and have little to no competition. This will allow you to save a bunch of money! Don’t be afraid of listings that are from a foreign country. Many times steals can be found from a listing abroad. What is popular in one country may be obsolete in another. So, local users may not be interested in an item, but it might be just what you are looking for. I ship approximately 20% off my goods overseas. I’ve never had a problem with an overseas buyer, or when buying from a user in another country. Tips to minimize the risk of buying on eBay.
eBay has put in a great tool to learn more about a seller. It is called the feedback system. At first glance it seems like a great way to check if a seller is legitimate. But as with anything else, the bad people will find ways to circumvent tools designed to get rid of them. Feedback can be artificially enhanced very easily. A fraudulent seller can join eBay and spend awhile just being a buyer and racking up great feedback. So when they start to sell, you check their feedback and see a 100% score and think they are legitimate. An easy way to recognize if this may be happening is to look at if the feedback was left by a buyer or a seller. If someone on eBay is selling some great items at almost too good to be true prices and all their feedback was received from sellers (meaning they were the buyer), it probably means they are up to no good. Another new way sellers are defrauding buyers on eBay is by stealing accounts. They send out mass e-mails to users asking them to login to their account to update some information. The user follows the directions in the e-mail and thinks that they have been successful. What they did not know was the site they logged into was not eBay but a site designed to steal their user information. This information is then used by the fraudulent seller to sell under the innocent user’s (who always has great, honest feedback) account. Once an item is bought, the seller never ships and takes the money. An easy way to recognize this is the fraudulent seller will ask (usually repeatedly) in the listing of their auction for you to contact them directly through e-mail and not through eBay “ask the seller a question” link. They will post their e-mail address in the body of the listing. Never contact a buyer this way. Always use the “ask seller a question” link in the listing. Another way to fight fraud is to ask the seller for a picture of an item showing something specific. For example, if you are thinking of buying a pair of shoes and have some doubts about whether or not the seller is legit, ask to see a picture of the sole of the right shoe. If the seller responds saying that they cannot do this for you it does not automatically mean they are frauds but it might. Some sellers do not have access to a camera or maybe they are out of town. But, this usually works as most sellers can send you pictures when requested. So if the seller cannot grant your request, you need to be careful and investigate some more before buying or bidding. Be wary of an item that uses stock pictures sold by someone other than a representative of the company who originally sold the item. For example, if you are buying a Sony Stereo and it uses pictures from Sony’s website, and the seller is JohnDoe he may be using stock photos because it is easier or because he doesn’t really have the item to sell. BUT, if the seller is an authorized Sony Dealer or even Sony themselves, it is probably OK that they are using stock pictures.
So, you need to be careful when stock pictures are used. Always ask for more information or pictures of the actual item if possible.
How to Sell on eBay Before we begin lets get something straight. This book will not tell you exactly what to sell. That is up to you. Unfortunately there is no Product X that I can guarantee that will make you a fortune and allow you to quit your job tomorrow. BUT, I can help you sell whatever it is you decide on, more effectively. Many people think selling on eBay is a losing proposition. They think you can only lose money by selling on eBay. In the beginning eBay was kind of like a huge garage sale. Bargains were expected and retail pricing was not heard of. Then one day, people started to embrace the whole online/eBay revolution of buying and selling. Once eBay became a major player in the e-commerce market, the world changed. Now instead of selling the contents of your attic or raiding grandpa’s wardrobe for some hip 1940’s clothes that you can sell for a buck a piece, people think bigger. Why sell used (although this is still a great function of eBay) when you could sell new and sell to a much larger audience. The sheer number of retail brick and mortar stores that also sell on eBay is huge. Legitimate business stay in the black (and have grown their profits nicely) by selling on eBay. Many people have closed their retail shops and now sell on eBay using a spare bedroom as their stockroom (that’s exactly what I do). Overhead is much lower since you are already paying your rent/mortgage to live there. eBay has allowed the little guy to get an even playing field with the big guns. With enough drive and determination, you can succeed. If someone tells me that they tried to sell on eBay but did not make it, I simply tell them that they either didn’t try hard enough or they didn’t try to sell the right item. Three quarters of a million people make their main source of income from eBay sales. Many more use eBay to bolster the earnings from their 9-5 job. Many vacations are paid for via eBay sales. There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for the popularity of eBay. Everyday thousands of new and eager buyers are signing up. These people are looking for items to buy. They are looking at your items, you need to know how to convert them into customers. So, how do you successfully sell on eBay? First it’s important to know what types of listings you can have, this time from a sellers point of view.
Auctions: These can be hit or miss. When I started selling on eBay, I mainly sold via auctions. While it is a great way to rack up sales, you do take a risk by not controlling what the final price will be (as you do with a “buy it now”). You can enter a "reserve price” (setting a low end limit that if not met, will protect you from having to sell for a price lower than you are willing to sell for) when posting the auction , but I find many buyers are turned off by this. If an auction does not hit the reserve price, the seller does not have to sell the item. Some buyers (myself included) will ignore auctions with reserve prices. I do not want to waste time bidding on something that may never reach the reserve when the same item will become available from another seller in the future. Remember, if one person is selling something, the odds are great that someone else will be as well. This doesn’t hold true for custom (paintings) or intellectual property (books, etc.). Sometimes if you pass on those items, you will not see them again. So posting an auction with a reserve can be a waste of time and money. Instead, try starting the opening bid at an acceptable level, meaning, if you want a minimum of $50 for an item make the opening bid $50. This means that if you get as few as one bid, you will get the price you want. This can also work in your favor for another reason. eBay is all about marketing. Sometimes a higher starting price will create artificial demand for an item. You’d be amazed at how many used items I have sold for more than they originally retailed for! Many buyers get so caught up in the hunt for an item that they forget common logic. This means more profit for you. Another big advantage of auctions is that you can control when you make the sale (money). Let’s say you are going on vacation next Monday. You can sell lots of items by auction and have listing end on Sunday night. When the auctions end you can expect payment shortly thereafter. This means that when you leave for your vacation on Monday, you’ll have a nice wad of cash in your pocket! The best time to end an auction is on a Thursday or Sunday evening. I have done countless studies testing what days and times are best. Since I live in the United States, I try to end my auctions on Thursday/Sunday evening between 7-9 PM Pacific time. Even though I live in the Central time zone, I do not discount getting the west coast bid. East coasters are well known for their late bed times, so an auction that ends at 8:30 PM Pacific, will be ending at 11:30 PM Eastern. This is well within the bedtime of most east coasters. So, not only do you get the huge West Coast bid, but you also include all other time zones as well.
Now, if you ended the auction at 8:30 PM Eastern, lets see what will happen. It is 5:30 PM on the West Coast. Most people will be either a) driving home from work or, b) eating dinner. You will miss as much as 50% of potential bidders. This means that an item that may have gone for full profit ending just three hours later, could be a steal for the buyer since he/she didn’t have as many competing bidders. Remember, it is all about how many people view/bid on your item! Buy it Nows: These are what I mainly focus on. I can set the price and sit back and wait for sales. While this means you cannot control when the sale will take place, you can generally control the money that you make using “buy it now”. “Buy it nows” are great if you have more than one of the same item. You can quickly and easily post the listing and if you have 10 like items to sell, you can list all 10 in the same listing. Buyers can then keep buying from this one listing until all 10 are purchased, or the listing expires. As earlier stated, auctions can be scheduled to end at a time that is convenient for you. “Buy it nows” end with the customer purchase. So, you can make a sale in the middle of the night or while out for dinner, etc. Many mornings when I check my e-mail I find that I sold hundreds of dollars worth of items while I was sleeping. This is because of the “buy it now” listing. An auction couldn’t offer this unless it ends in the middle of the night. As I explained earlier, ending an auction in the middle of the night would be rather silly. “Buy it nows” when done correctly will produce fast, easy sales. The key is to not be greedy and price your item correctly. Sure an item might sell at $100, but it would sell much faster at $75. Remember that items sitting on your shelf are not worth anything. You need to sell them to make them valuable. By valuable, I mean something that makes money. So, lets say you have 10 Chicago Bulls T-shirts for sale. They are all brand new and retailed for $25. You made a bulk purchase at a flea market and got them for $12 a piece. Now, you could list all 10 at a price of $25 (which would be fair as that is what the suggested retail was) or you could list them at $18 and highlight the listing saying the are discounted and priced to move. At $25, you may sell one or two every once in a while. But at a price of $18, you could very well sell all 10 within a week. So, lets say you sell 2 a month at $25, for a total profit, before fees, of $26 ($12 from each sale) total. Or you can sell all 10 for $18 in a week for a total profit of $60 ($6 from each sale) before fees and use that money to reinvest or pay off a bill, etc. The quick sale of items, getting them into your inventory and then out quickly, is the best way to make money on eBay. Think quantity sales instead of high profit sales.
Why is Wal-Mart so successful? It’s because they sell a large amount of items at a low margin andt they sell millions of these items daily. Instead of focusing on the high profit items, they focus on quantity. It works. On eBay it is the same principal, just a smaller amount. You probably won’t be selling millions of items a day. But you can start small and work towards increasing the number of items you sell, thus increasing your profit. Best Offers: As I said in the buying section, I do not like these and do not recommend them. But, they can work for you under certain guidelines, for example if you have an item that you need to get rid of. Lets say you won it in a raffle. Since you didn’t pay for the item, you may not really care how much you sell the item for. The entire sale price (minus fees) would be considered profit. So, we can try to pull what I call “The Dupe”. Post the item as a “buy it now” with the option of “best offer”. Then set the “buy it now” price high. Lets say you won a CD Player that retails for $60. Put the “buy it now” price at $75. This does two things. One, you may get lucky and get someone to pay the “buy it now” price. If that happens, you can sit back and realize you made a nice tidy profit. But, what if no one goes for the buy it now? Well, someone may make an offer. They see the “buy it now” price of $75. So unless they low ball you (if they do, just deny the offer as someone else will make a better offer soon) expect to make a decent sale. Lets say they offer $35. You can now decide to take that or even wait for a better offer. But, if you had set the price lower, say $50 “buy it now”, you might receive a low “best offer, maybe $25. So, in my opinion, Best Offers should be used sparingly and are best used as “The Dupe”. Tips to get more viewers As eBay continues to grow, so does the challenge of getting people to view your listing. Everyday more and more people sign up to buy on eBay, however more people also start selling as well. So the competition to get views of your listing gets tougher and tougher. A poor product that is marketed well will sell just as good or better than a great product that is marketed poorly. Say for instance you have a brand new mint, authentic Rolex watch. You sell it in eBay Motors under the category of shop towels. Do you think you will sell it for very much, if at all? This poorly marketed but great item will either not get sold or sold for a fraction of its value. Now, say you have a used, slightly scratched Rolex. You list it properly in the “watches” category. Now you will get many viewers who are looking for a Rolex and will, despite the scratches, still bid accordingly since it is a Rolex!
One of the best ways to get more viewers to your item is to list in more than one category. This of course can get expensive as listing fees are doubled (more on fees later) BUT you can easily increase views of your product by a large margin. People only search in categories they are interested in such as Cycling, Road Bikes and Parts A second listing in Cycling, Universal Parts will grab even more attention! How you title a listing will have a huge affect on how many views you get. I like to start my titles with an all caps word such as NEW! or LOOK, etc. This may seem a little corny but it does call attention to your item. Best of all, this method is free. You can pay extra to highlight your title, but my method works just as well. The description of your item is where you can really hook the buyer and close the sale. Try to be descriptive, but at the same time tell a little story. You want to create interest and some intrigue in your item. Some times people will post a new leather jacket and say: Leather jacket, never worn. I’d prefer something like this: Brand New Leather Jacket. It has never been worn as it was a gift but was a little too small for me. It is made of genuine leather and will last for years. If it fit me I’d never sell it but unfortunately it does not. My loss is your gain. Retail price was over $200. (I shouldn’t know since it was a gift but I cheated and looked it up online) • • • Size Men’s Medium Awesome quality Will look great on you!
Do not pass up this opportunity to get a great jacket at a great price! Please ask me any questions that you may have and please see my other auctions! So I tell a little story and create some interest. The goal is to either get an immediate bid (from people who haven’t read this e-book of course) or have the buyer add it to their “watched items”. Always direct the buyer to ask any questions and to see your other auctions. This will help cross promote your other items to get maximum exposure. Also, notice how I created a little bit of urgency by stating not to pass up this opportunity. Sometimes you need to tell the buyer to buy your item.
For instance if I post a “buy it now”, I might state some thing like “only 2 of these left, do not miss out”. Even if I have more than two, you need to create some urgency for the buyer. How to Attract Buyers and Get Repeat Business As mentioned in the last chapter, telling a little story can help create interest in your item. But how do you go from interest to a sale? The description should highlight all of the features/specs of your item. Try to tell as much as you can about how the item works, what it can do, etc. You will also need to disclose information of any faults the item has as well. We can be creative here. Instead of used, say gently used or broken in! Maybe you could say the item has held up great through use and shows no signs of slowing down. Think creatively when disclosing “negative” aspects of your items. So, if I was selling a used pair of jeans I would list it like this. You are bidding on a used pair of Levi Jeans!! • • • • • • Jeans are Levi 501’s. Size 32x32 Extremely durable (you know Levi’s) Worn about 10 times (just broken in!). Slight worn knees but it just adds character! These will become your favorite pair in no time!
I disclosed that the jeans are worn and have worn knees. Many people will not be bothered at all by this. These people are the ones you are targeting with this listing. Someone who wants a brand new pair of jeans will more than likely shop at a store. Keep them coming back It’s one thing to make a sale. It’s another to make a sale and have the potential to make many more sales to the same buyer. I keep a text file of all the e-mail addresses of the people I sell to. Then if I have new products to promote, I can e-mail them all at once! I create a file with MS Notepad. Save it as “client e-mail list” or something like that. Then, copy all the e-mail addresses that you sell to like this: yourname@msn.com; johndoe@yahoo.com; Janedoe@hotmail
It is very important to put a semi colon (;) and then a space after each address. Use your e-mail program to send e-mails announcing new products, sales, updates or whatever you want to say. BUT, you need to comply with anti-spam laws. It’s very simple to do so. Simply type something like this at the bottom of your e-mail: You are receiving this e-mail because you are a former customer of (insert your eBay ID here). If you do not wish to receive further mailings from us, please reply with unsubscribe in the message. Thanks! That’s all you need and you are covered against anti-spam laws. eBay Fees eBay didn’t get to be the huge marketplace it did by not making money. I regularly pay eBay more than $900 a month in fees. While this may sound like a lot, it is in direct proportion to how much I make. So, I factor those fees into my Buy it Now prices and in effect the customer pays the fees, not me. eBay charges fees for listing an item and also when an item sells. Auctions are cheaper to list than Buy it Nows, but then again there is the risk of less profit with auctions. I have listed the most common fees charged by eBay below. As of this writing, typical eBay fees for listing an item are: Insertion Fees (the cost to list an item) $0.01 – $0.99 $0.20 $1.00 – $9.99 $0.35 $10.00 – $24.99 $0.60 $25.00 – $49.99 $1.20 $50.00 – $199.99 $2.40 $200.00 – $499.99 $3.60 $500.00 or more $4.80 Reserve Fees (fully refunded if item sells): Reserve Price $0.01 – $49.99 $50.00 – $199.99 $200.00 and up Fee $1.00 $2.00 1% of Reserve Price (up to $50)

One trick I have used is to pay my eBay fees with my PayPal debit card. You can receive a free debit card from PayPal that allows you to directly access your PayPal funds. The card can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted. The big advantage is that you receive a 1 % refund instantly. So, when paying my $900+ a month eBay fees, I get a small refund. It’s not much, but since I have to pay the fees anyway, I might as well get a little bit back. PayPal Fees PayPal (an eBay Company) charges their own set of fees. If you want to be successful selling on eBay, you’ll need to have a Premiere or Business PayPal account. This allows you to accept credit card payments. Here are the current, as of this writing, fees that PayPal charges when you receive payments: 1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30 USD What to sell? It’s very easy to sit back and explain how to sell. It is harder to explain what to sell. Basically it’s up to you. I have found my niche in selling sporting goods and Ebooks.. What are you interested in? Think about that and you will find the answer to the question, What do I sell? If you like crafts, you have some options. You can make your own crafts and sell them as “handmade, homemade crafts”. A tagline like that will surely gets some conversions from “viewer” to buyer! And that’s what we are after. Of course, you could also write an e-book about making crafts. Sometimes instead of selling the actual product, there is more profit in selling a book explaining to someone “how to” do something. Again, I use this e-book you are reading as proof of that point. I already know how to sell items, I can do it in my sleep (and often do!) so now I have moved to the next logical step, make money by teaching others what I know. Say you’re not the writing type. That’s ok too. Do you have a camcorder or have access to one? Ever considered making an e-video on how to do something? Take the same craft idea I used above. Now instead of a book, you can actually show someone visually how to make the crafts. What’s even more awesome and exciting about an e-video is that you can charge more! Yes, that’s right. Simply by using more advanced technology, you can charge more. If what you are reading right now was an e-video instead of e-book, I could have charged 2-3 times more. The best part is that e-videos are almost easier to make since you do not have to type a manuscript.
