Faculty of Health and Social Care Guidance on a learners eligibility for ‘Train to Gain’ funding and completion of the Pathway/Award Application form. The overall aim of the Train to Gain Service is designed to raise the skill levels of people who are in work but do not already hold a Level 2 Qualification which, is equivalent to 5 GCSE‟s (Grades A*-C) Eligibility Learners must: be 19 years of age or over possess a contract of employment with an employer fulfil the residency regulations for the Learning Skills Council (LSC) in London - Guidance on LSC Learner Eligibility can be accessed on the following web site link: http://readingroom.lsc.gov.uk/lsc/National/LSC_learner_Eligibility_Guidance_2007-08-Final.pdf not possess a full level 2 qualification – the following provides a list of qualifications which would render the learner ineligible and is not exhaustive: 5 GCE/GCSE‟s grade A* - C 5 „O‟ Level passes 5 CSE Grade 1 2 AS levels or more 1 A Level or more NVQ level 2 NVQ level 3 NVQ level 4 Intermediate GNVQ or higher City & Guilds Craft part 2 Access Course HND/HNC First degree/Higher degree The Learner will be required to complete and sign a Self-Declaration of Eligibility for Level 2 Entitlement Form which, must be signed and stamped by the applicant‟s employer and submitted with a completed Pathway/Award Application form. The form can be found at the end of these Guidance Notes: Completion of Pathway/Award Application form This form is used by applicants to apply for a variety of units and courses available within London South Bank University‟s Faculty of Health Social Care‟s Post Qualifying education portfolio. Train to Gain applicants will therefore not be required to complete certain sections and questions on the form. The overall aim of the programme is to help those employees without the equivalent of 5 GCSE‟s (Grades AC) already. Therefore, to take part you must tell us about all of your existing qualifications. If you have or are studying any of the following qualifications or a higher level qualification, we‟re sorry but you will not be eligible for „Train to Gain‟ funding for a further NVQ Level 2 qualification. This list is not exhaustive.
