THE CONTENTS OF THE SLIDE SHOW OVERVIEW: The POWERPOINT presentation on the French Revolution will basically cover the volatile time period of 1789 to 1799 in France’s history. To complete this slide show, one will need to draw from many different sources. Remember, though, a POWERPOINT presentation should include more pictures and other graphical sources than written words. Be sure to also use quotes from primary source documents to compliment your presentation. Below is a sample chronology of how one’s slide show should be presented. SLIDE # 1: Title page that includes your names and the title of your presentation. SLIDES 2 - ?: This is the most important part of your presentation and its focus should be the causes of the French Revolution. Some of the causes include the despotism of the House of Bourbon (go back to the Sun King), the diffusion of Enlightenment thoughts, the American Revolution, and among other causes, the plight of the Third Estate. You should especially use primary source information that is available to you and your partner. SLIDES ?-?: This should include a chronology of certain events (the Storming of the Bastille, The Tennis Court Oath, the Reign of Terror, etc.) and the different forms of government (The National Assembly, The National Convention and the Directory) that made up the history of the French Revolution. (mainly use your French Revolution worksheet for this part of your presentation). SLIDES ?-?: This should cover the long and short-term effects of the French and a brief summary of the French Revolution POWERPOINT: A BRIEF INTRODUCTION OVERVIIEW: More than anything, POWERPOINT is a program that allows its user to create a presentation that is pleasing to the eye. For this class, we will utilize POWERPOINT to develop a slide show oriented on IMPERIALISM and its effect on the world. It is hoped that your slideshow will highlight this crucial period in World History.. * SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Because of the nature of this project it is advised that you open, edit and save all under your own file. Be sure, then, that you know your password. STARTUP DIRECTIONS: 1. Get your password and log in 2. Double click on the MICROSOFT POWERPOINT ICON 3. Once you’re into POWERPOINT you have two options: or A - Start a blank presentation ( 1st day ) or B- Open up an existing presentation ( every day after the first day ). CHOICE OF SLIDES: There are several types of slides that you can use for your slide show. For our purpose, stick to the BLANK SLIDE. It is located in the fourth column and third row of the NEW SLIDE LAYOUT. After you have found it click OK. TO WRITE TEXT ON THE SLIDE: Click the TEXT ICON located on the task bar and drag it up to the slide and place it where you want it approximately (it can be moved later). Then begin typing what you want on the slide. TO INSERT CLIPART: Click on INSERT and scroll down to picture. At the arrow you will have several options. Click on FROM FILE. You will then see the window for INSERT PICTURE. Then click on COURSES. You will then have several options to choose from – choose the icon PICSART. You will now have several categories of pictures to choose from starting with ALPHABET and ending with WORKSHOP. For this project you will mainly use pictures from the PEOPLE and MAPS folders. Once you find the picture you want to insert, simply click on INSERT and it will now be on your slide. TO USE THE SCANNER: Find a picture suitable to your slide and place it on the scanner. (NOTE: You must use the computer that is directly linked to the scanner – each computer cluster has one). Click on the PHOTOEDITOR icon and it will open. Click on FILE and then ACQUIRE IMAGE. You can now scan by hitting PREVIEW and then click on FINAL after you have edited your picture. When you're ready to save, save it under the FDRIVE. This allows you to eventually insert it into your slideshow from any computer. Finally, log out of the computer so that the next person can use the scanner. Once you get back to your computer, you can now insert the picture by going to INSERT and then choosing PICTURES FROM FILE. BACKGROUND OF THE SLIDE: Click on FORMAT and go to BACKGROUND. Then click on the arrow pointing down and you will have two options: MORE COLORS or FILL EFFECTS. You can choose either one and then apply it to the slide you are working on.
