The Equestrian Academy - Cape Town
The Equestrian Academy C.T. offers comprehensive equestrian courses ranging from the Professional
Groom course to the Stable Yard Manager course to the Preliminary Riding Instructor course.
The Equestrian Academy C.T. will be based at the newly built 5 star Equestrian Centre situated on the
exclusive Klein Zevenwacht Wine & Equestrian Estate, Kuils River and has the capacity to enrol up to 10
full-time students in 2009 for the 10 month equestrian course. Students who have their own horse may
bring it along for the 10 month period and it will be stabled at the Academy. Students who do not own a
horse, are allocated horses which will be their responsibility for the duration of the course. The
student’s responsibilities include taking care of the needs of the stabled horses as well as exercising the
horses. The care of the horses includes making sure that the horses are fed and watered correctly and
their stables are kept clean. At our well equipped establishment we aim to produce students who will
have the knowledge, confidence and practical experience to be able to work successfully in any sphere
of the ever growing horse industry in South Africa. As stated by the SA National Instructors’ Plan
fourteen major career paths (riding and non-riding) have been identified in the industry.
By offering professional equestrian services such as horse riding lessons, livery services, schooling of
horses, specialized grooming services and more at our Equestrian Academy together with
accommodating students full-time, the knowledge and experienced gained while working with and
taking care of the horses at the equestrian centre as well as our comprehensive syllabus will facilitate
our Academy students to take the SANEF (South African National Equestrian Federation) exams and
obtain a formal Equestrian Qualification.

Accreditation & Quality Assurance
As The Equestrian Academy equestrian centre facilities are newly built, we will thus be applying for
accreditation with the relevant authorities during the forth coming months. We will be applying to
Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training, as well as
with the Equine and Equestrian Grading Council (EquiGrade) for accreditation. The Equestrian Academy
will also apply for registration with the SA Department of Education once we are geared up to offer
Equestrian subjects to high school pupils. Further more, we will also be applying for membership to the
Equestrian Educators Association of Southern Africa (EEASA).
Therefore, you can be assured of quality tuition at a well managed equestrian academy with top class
