Helpful Resources for Researching Literary Criticism
Literary criticism is when experts in literature write opinion papers or books about a specific literary
work. You will find links to articles at the following locations:

       1. Public on mvc3 – English – Literary Criticism: these are PDF files (Acrobat Reader is
required to open them). They are not listed alphabetically so page through to see if your
author/novel is listed. If you decide to use one, make sure to print it off and open the Word
document called “Citations” to retrieve the correct information for citing this source. These
are listed in the same order as the PDF files.
       2. Public on mvc3 – English – Literary Criticism – Links to Author Criticism: This is a
Word document. Again, these are not alphabetized, but look at the information in
parentheses after the links to figure out which are related to your author. (This file is also
          available on my web site.)

On the bottom book shelf, against the front wall of the classroom, are some books and/or study guides
for the following novels/authors (remember to leave them in the room if others have the same
novel/author). Please sign out on the clip board any books you wish to remove from the class room.
    Fitzgerald – biography
    Hemingway – biography
 A Farewell to Arms – Cliff Notes
    Willa Cather – biography
    Olive Ann Burns – biography/sequel
 The Awakening – Spark Notes
 Red Badge of Courage – Cliff Notes

If you still need resources, check out the following web links but be sure that you are using something
written by an expert, not just another high school student. Remember to cite all your sources and print
off the portions you actually use in your paper.
