Study Topic: Adherence to National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)
Guidelines for Prostate Cancer
Objective: To ensure patient treatment plans meet NCCN guidelines.
Measurement: Random sample of 30% of the 2003 analytic prostate cancer
cases.
Method: Retrospective chart review. A total of 30 cases were reviewed for
2003.
Results:

Ultrasound 28 30 93%
Gleason Score 30 30 100%
Primary Pattern 30 30 100%
Secondary Pattern 30 30 100%
Bone Scan** 3 3 100%
CT Pelvis or MRI** 3 3 100%
**Mandatory only for Gleason score greater than or equal to 8 OR PSA greater
than 20 OR Tumor Greater than or equal to T3, or N1 or M1.
Conclusions: Retrospective chart review revealed the following: 1) 100%
compliance achieved for DRE, Gleason Score, primary and secondary; 2) 93%
compliance achieved for PSA and Ultrasound; 3) Bone Scan and CT Pelvis or
MRI were mandatory on 3 of the 30 patients reviewed and compliance was 100%
for each.
