Geometry continues students’ study of geometric concepts building upon middle school
topics. Students will move from an inductive approach to deductive methods of proof in
their study of two- and three-dimensional geometric figures. Reasoning skills will be
emphasized and students will broaden their use of the coordinate plane. Appropriate
technology, from manipulatives to calculators and graphics software, will be used
regularly for instruction and assessment

2. Be honest, courteous, and respectful to your teacher and other classmates.
3. Be prepared for class daily.
4. Students who are not in the room when the bell finishes ringing will be marked as
tardy. You should also be in your seat and ready to begin(materials on desk and open
to appropriate pages).

All bathroom needs should be taken care of on the way to class. Passes are for
emergencies only and are a privilege. You are allowed 2 bathroom emergencies per
semester. When your passes run out, you will be expected to stay five minutes after
school for every minute of instructional time missed.
5. No eating, headphones, or cellular phones in class. If I see them, I will take them.
6. Follow all rules in the Wake County handbook.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: (these materials need to be brought to class everyday)

2 Expo dry-erase markers
Scientific Calculator (this is essential for completing
GRADING POLICY: 1. Tests 70%
2. Quizzes 20%
3. Daily Grade 10%
The Final Exam is a state EOC. It will consist of 25% of your final grade.
Grades will be updated weekly on SPAN.
Tests: After each unit a chapter test will be administered.
Quizzes: These will be given almost daily to check for understanding. If you keep up
with homework, they can only help your grade. There will be unannounced quizzes.
1. Homework- You will have homework everyday!!!
Class Participation: You will receive board points for active participation. This
includes group work, and board work. Board points are a way to raise/replace low
homework and quiz grades.
The way you conduct yourself in a classroom is vitally important. If you are cooperative
and respectful, you will only succeed in the classroom. Disruptive behavior and
disrespect will not be tolerated.
*Remember, if you are not prepared for class or your homework is incomplete, you
can not fully participate in the class.*
MAKE UP WORK:
Success in this class requires a consistent effort on each student’s part.
Homework will be assigned on a routine basis. In addition, regular attendance is
essential. You will be missing something if you are absent.
- It is the responsibility of each student to make up work in a timely manner.
- Tests will be made up within one week from the day it is given.
- Full credit for missed assignments will be earned for excused absences only.
*If you do not make arrangements to make up assignments, a grade of “0” will be
given with no exceptions.
*If you are caught cheating, an automatic grade of “0” will be given.*
