									MARINE CONSERVATION SOCIETY Corporate and Trusts Fundraiser
Salary: £20,000-24,000 dependent on experience Initial 1 year contract

Introduction to MCS The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) is the only charity working uniquely to care for UK seas, shores and wildlife. We are a solutions-based organisation, working closely with our supporters to: establish vital marine protected areas where wildlife can recover and flourish; clear our coasts and seas of the litter that kills seabirds, dolphins, turtles and other wildlife; reduce the overfishing which is devastating the life in our seas and promote sustainable seafood alternatives; and generally to help the British nation to enjoy their wonderful coast lines and beaches. Over the past five years, MCS has almost doubled in size as a result of investing in its fundraising team (resulting in a doubling in core income from companies), and a fast growing political and public interest in marine issues. We are considered by many to punch well above our weight, with an excellent reputation for raising awareness about marine issues, and effecting meaningful change via our work with communities for marine reserves, consumers and supermarkets for sustainable seafood, and volunteers for action against litter. The role We are seeking a Corporate and Trusts Fundraiser to join a dynamic and committed team and support MCS campaigns and projects. Reporting into the Head of Fundraising, you will play a key role in raising income and building relationships with a variety of Companies and Trusts & Foundations to achieve income targets. With strong written and verbal skills you will be an effective negotiator and with good prior experience of raising funds from these sources. Main Duties will include: Corporate fundraising         Work with the Head of Fundraising to develop a strategy and operational plan for Corporate Fundraising Establish long term and high value relationships with corporate partnerships and sponsors. Lead on managing the tiered Corporate Benefactor Scheme. Liaise with and account manage existing corporate partnerships as directed by the Head of Fundraising. Research the corporate market place for funding opportunities and partnership matches. Assist the Head of Fundraising in recruitment and development of new corporate partners. Monitor and report on corporate income and expenditure budgets Work with the Head of Fundraising to plan, design and present compelling partnership proposals to companies


Trust and foundation fundraising             Deliver fundraising applications to the highest standard Work with the Head of Fundraising to develop the Trusts and Foundations fundraising strategy and operational plan Manage and develop relationships with Trusts and Foundations Research the Trust and Foundations market place, and oversee the administration of Trusts & Foundations database by the Marketing Assistant. Ensure appropriate networks of Trusts and Trustees are identified and developed to exploit fundraising opportunities Work with the Head of Fundraising to plan, design and submit compelling applications to Trusts and Foundations Present MCS’s activities to Trusts and Foundations and represent MCS at external meetings. Respond to enquiries from Trust and Foundations With assistance of Marketing Assistant monitor and report on income and expenditure budgets With assistance of Marketing Assistant manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date records on trust and foundations and specific programmes/projects that are funded Produce progress reports to existing funders in a timely manner Manage collection of and reporting on funds for multi-annual grants

Also  Undertake any other administrative duties associated with the fundraising programme and with the Society as required.

Person Specification         Proven background in fundraising in at least 2 of the following streams: corporate, community, trusts, grants, events Substantial experience of fundraising from companies, and excellent account management skills. Experience of developing and building on-going relationships with companies, trusts and foundations. Ability and confidence to represent the organization with potential and existing funders Experience of making outstanding presentations, networking, negotiation and influencing others Experience of producing in depth, motivating and inspiring proposals and funding reports Demonstrable experience of managing a diverse workload and working under pressure Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, at all levels


   

Excellent personal organisation skills, including time management Experience of working within agreed budgetary constraints, ensuring that expenditure is maintained within budgets, and that income is closely monitored. • Good organisational and administrative skills and attention to detail.

Salary and Benefits: The post is for an initial 1 year fixed-term contract with high potential for extension. The salary is negotiable within the range of £20,000 to £24,000, dependent on experience and may be performance related. MCS operates a non-contributory pension scheme. The post will be based in Ross on Wye. Annual leave allowance is 25 days with pay per annum, including mandatory leave between Christmas and New Year, plus public holidays.
