Thunder Basin Coal Company (TBCC), located in northeastern Wyoming, is a subsidiary of Arch Coal, Inc. (ACI), headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Arch Coal is the nation’s second-largest coal producer. We distinguish ourselves by focusing on employee safety and environmental stewardship. TBCC operates two mines in the northeastern Wyoming area—Black Thunder Mine and Coal Creek Mine.

Jobs Available: Diesel Mechanic - Job involves troubleshooting and repair of a wide variety of equipment. TBCC’s two mines currently operate 48 mechanical haul trucks, each with a capacity of up to 360 tons. Other equipment includes 25 D10 and D11 Cat dozers. Electrician - Electricians work on-site, troubleshooting and repairing massive pieces of equipment. TBCC’s two mines currently operate 6 draglines, 15 shovels, 50 electric haul trucks, and 5 LeTourneau loaders.

Engineering Supervisor
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt JOB LOCATION: Thunder Basin Coal Company - Black Thunder Mine

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
Supervise the long-range mine planning, exploration drilling and dewatering drilling programs for Black Thunder Mine.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
         Prepare long-range mine plan volumetrics, equipment projections and annual budget. Develop, maintain, and provide cost analysis and budgetary information for BTM’s exploration and dewatering program. Oversee exploration drilling program for existing and future mining areas. Review and optimize the post mining topography surface as needed. Reserve analysis for current and future mining areas. Develop, maintain and update the final mine closure cost estimates for the mine. Assist with safety audits and conduct safety meetings for the administration group. Prepare and submit all necessary drilling information to the Bureau of Land Management (“BLM”). Coordinate quarterly BLM inspections.



Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
     A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field. Minimum of 5 years mine planning experience. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks or projects.

 

Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and e-mail software applications. Experience with mining software applications such as AutoCad, SurvCADD, Minex, and Minescape.
