ABSTRACT: As the first installment of a two part Entrepreneur Series, this panel session will focus on the speaker’s successful incubation of an idea into an on-going and thriving business. The four speakers are well known in the Dallas area for having taken an idea out of the lab and into the business world. The second part of the series will be the development of the idea into a product/service and obtaining the necessary funding to grow the business to the desired level. BIOGRAPHIES: Pardeep Kohli, Founder, Vice President of Engineering and CEO, Spatial Wireless. Prior to founding Spatial Wireless, Pardeep served as Senior Director, New Products Development at the Network Application Division of Alcatel USA. He has over 12 years experience leading large development teams to create new products for wireless networks. Prior

to working for Alcatel, he worked for Pacific Bell Mobile Services where he was instrumental in the rollout of Pacific Bell's GSM network. Before that he worked on several development projects for NEC America and Panasonic. He holds two U.S. patents on the design and deployment of advanced telecommunication services. Dr. Guanghan Xu, co-founder, Chief Technology Officer and President, Navini Networks, is a former professor at the University of Texas at Austin, School of Electrical Engineering. An industry leader in "smart antenna" technology and wireless broadband communications, he was the co-founder of Cwill Communications and wrote the initial draft of the 3G TD-SCDMA standards proposal. In January 2002, Dr. Xu was named one of a select few "People to Watch" by Dallas-Fort-Worth TechBiz. Dr. San-Qi Li, co-founder and chief technology officer for Santera, is an industry luminary in ATM traffic management and network control. He co-founded the company in 1998, alongside Board Chairman Wu-Fu Chen. Dr. Li works with teams to develop and implement the company's technology investment strategies as well as disseminate and evolve Santera's technical strategic plan. Over the past ten years, Dr. Li has provided consulting services to top telecom companies such as Cisco, Samsung, Wiltel and Ardent Networks, mainly in the areas of traffic engineering, congestion control and switch architecture design. Dr. Li has published over 60 papers in international archival journals and over 90 papers in referenced international conference proceedings. He has also authored four book chapters published by IEEE Press and holds several patents. Prior to joining Santera, Dr. Li served on the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin as a professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. John Baker, CEO for Transat Technologies, has over 20 years of management experience in the wireless telecommunications industry with approximately 15 years with GSM-related systems and technology. John was recently with ADC Telecommunications where he held the position of Senior Vice President, President of the Wireless Systems Division specializing in Data and GSM infrastructure equipment, Network Performance Software and SS7 Systems for Wireless Networks. Positions prior to ADC include Vice President of Technology for Pacific Bell Wireless, building the GSM 1900 Network in California and Nevada, and Vice President DCS1800/PCS1900 with Nokia Telecommunication's leading product management, manufacturing and R&D in the United Kingdom and the startup of the United States operations.
