Politics in the Service of Human Development
“Politics in the Service of Human Development” The Africa Report There are many countries like Rwanda that are working hard to move themselves forward especially after the destruction of the genocide. Many people in Rwanda are living below the poverty line. The leaders have realized this, and they are willing to make a change – a big one. Rwanda has planned “Vision 2020” (The Africa Report 33). These goals aim to increase the life expectancy to 55 years old as well as having a 100% literate generation. Rwanda plans on improving their health and education as well. The Rwandan government plan to create a better place to live for its civilians. These civilians are being put in an atmosphere that makes it easy for them to progress forward and reach their individual worth. This is recognized by Pope Paul VI in Populorum Progressio. “They are continually striving to exercise greater personal responsibility; to do more, learn more, and have more so that they might increase their personal worth” (Pope Paul VI 2). This is exactly what the Rwandan people are doing by developing themselves and their nation and advancing to a new level of success in the world.
