EMERGENCY FIRE SERVICES CONTROL OPERATIONS LEVEL 3 Introduction
This level 3 qualification consists of 5 mandatory unit and 3 optional units. Candidates are required to demonstrate competence in all 5 mandatory units plus one option – total 6 units for achievement of the full N/SVQ Structure of the national standards; 1. Unit overview Each unit of competence starts with an overview sheet. This sets the context and outlines the structure for the function covered by the national standards. 1.1 Scope of the Unit Each element of competence is described in respect of the key expectations and parameters of workplace performance. 1.2 Key Words and Concepts This section provides further guidance on definition of key terms and concepts specified within the standards, including defining, where appropriate, the range of contexts and conditions relevant to the unit. 2. 2.1 Title Each element title is provided, listing under its relevant unit title for reference. 2.2 Simulation Specification regarding the acceptable use of simulation is provided for each element. 2.3 Performance criteria These are specified in the column headed “you must ensure that’ – all performance criteria are critical to competent performance and must therefore be assessed on each assessment occasion. ‘contingency criteria’ (e.g.; those relating to possible events such as faults arising, may be assessed through questioning. 2.4 Knowledge and understanding Relevant knowledge and understanding is specified in the column headed ‘you must know and understand’. Maintain information on EFS operational resources CO1.1 Monitor the availability of operational resources
