Mayfair Diamonds and Fine Jewelry is truly a Long Island gem: The award-winning jewelry boutique chain — a fourth-generation family-run business with locations in East Hampton and Woodbury, just celebrated its 50th anniversary on the Island with a silent auction fundraiser called Mayfair Rocks. Held December 3rd at Nisen Sushi in Woodbury, the event featured a live performance by pop music sensation Ryan Star, whose new album will be released on Atlantic Records early this summer. Also in attendance were noted names such as Lorraine Bracco and Aidan Quinn. Proceeds from the event went to benefit The INN (which addresses hunger and homelessness on Long Island), the Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition and The Developmental Center, which helps children with autism. To be sure, all that glitters at Mayfair is not necessarily gold: It may be platinum, and encrusted with a brilliant assortment of precious gems or meticulously embellished with diamonds of any imaginable shape, size, cut and color. Offering a wealth of pieces from world-famous jewelry designers and also enabling customers to create ‘dream pieces’ of their own, Mayfair is “the gold standard” in the jewelry industry, recently listed as one of the “50 Top Jewelers in America” by Harpers Bazaar Magazine. In short, Mayfair caters to clients seeking pieces that are extraordinary and everlasting, artistic treasures that are

sure to be passed down from generation to generation. “We take the time to figure out who our clients are and build relationships with them,” says Vice President Lauren Kulchinsky, daughter of owner Dan Kulchinsky. Her greatgrandfather started the family in the jewelry business back in 1923 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and her grandfather opened Mayfair’s Commack store 50 years ago. Locations in Woodbury and East Hampton soon followed. Mayfair boasts a distinctive assortment of designer driven collections rarely found on this side of the Atlantic Ocean. A buyer with a superb eye for both quality and style, Kulchinsky travels the world with her co-Vice President and brother, Justin, in search of limited-edition couture brands. Together they’ve discovered the distinguished collections of Kristen Farrell, a talented goldsmith known to spend up to six months on a single creation; and Rodney Rayner, the British trend-bucking designer. Mayfair also features other world renowned jewelry designers including Masriera, Garavelli, and Kwiat -- a regular on the red carpet that is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary. “Long Islanders are truly fashion forward,” Kulchinsky says. “They know who they are and what they want, but they are also open to new ideas.” Kulchinsky was the youngest inductee into the National Jeweler’s Retailer Hall of Fame. She’s also been honored by the Italian Trade Commission, which presented her with a ‘Key to Italy’.
