CURRICULUM NEWS

Differentiated learning programmes
Each year at Grey Lynn School we set targets for reading, writing and maths. We report back on where children are at in relation to these targets at parent interviews and in the written report at the end of the year. Teachers use a variety of assessment tools to find out where students are at in their learning. In some learning areas there maybe up to a four year range in one class. Teachers design activities to cater for where their students are working at. In every class there will be some students who need support and others who require extension. Differentiated programmes (ability grouping) in different learning areas allows teachers to cater for the varying levels within their classes. Teacher only day Monday August 31 In October 2008 the government gave schools an extra day in 2009 for professional development on the school curriculum. Monday 31st August (Term 3 Week 7) will be Grey Lynn School’s teacher only day.

Lateness The first bell goes at 8.55 and the roll is called by 9.00. If your child arrives at school after 8.55 they must go to the school office for a late slip. Otalani, Soraya and I will be monitoring lateness beginning next week. Art Exhibition Parents are invited to view the artworks in classrooms from 8.00 – 8.30 and 3.00 – 3.30 tomorrow. Please feel free to visit all the classes. The variety of art works around the school is amazing – reflective of the time, effort and creativity of our students and teachers. Enjoy!

Welcome!
