Laptops and netbooks are convenient. You can't dispute that. But what you gain in portability, you may lose in the area of personal comfort. If desk space is not readily available, it can sometimes be a challenge to balance a notebook on your lap as you try and get your work done. The Logitech Comfort Lapdesk is a piece of modern home office furniture that addresses this need so that you can enjoy laptop computing from the comforts of your bed, sofa or even the floor. A number of features have been built into it’s design to improve leg and neck comfort. The Lapdesk comes with a four-layer heat-shield to protect your legs from notebook heat while the soft air-mesh fabric on it’s underside is gentle on the legs. Add to this the twelve-degree angled riser and you know you’ll find a setting that will ensure that you don’t develop upper back and neck pain. Keeping in the spirit of the laptop, the Lapdesk is lightweight and portable so that it can be easily stored under a bed or sofa when not being used.

I tried the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk, and while I'm not a fan of this type of product because frankly I think it's too much trouble, I did like the Logitech model. It certainly keeps your legs from melting, and the ergonomic design is comfortable for those long nights, banging away at the keys. I also enjoyed the soft air-mesh fabric. Historically, I might have air-vent impressions on my thighs after a couple hours of laptop use. The Comfort Lapdesk is like a soft pillow on your lap. I recommend this product, both for function and price. ($40, www.logitech.com)
