ABC Studios, the leader in the development, production and strategic distribution of entertainment content across television and emerging digital platforms, has announced the 10 participants of the 2008-09 Production Associates Program. The successful eight year program offers diverse candidates full-time, entry-level positions within the studio’s Burbank-based television production management divisions for 12 months, with the goal of preparing them for future advancement opportunities within the television industry. The 2008-09 associates, who begin their assignments this week, are Juanpaolo Catapang, Nantale Corbett, Sonia Evans, Kelsey Fallesen, Benjamin Jones, Enoch Changhee Kim, Deborah Lin, Joshua R. Pineda, Parul Puri and Brittany Williams. “ABC Studios produces some of the most highly-rated, critically acclaimed and innovative programming on television, due in large part to the dynamic and hardworking executives we have working in our various divisions. It is programs like these that enhance the studio’s diversity efforts and plant the seeds for the next group of executives to flourish,” said Mark Pedowitz, president, ABC Studios. As the program seeks applicants from varied and diverse backgrounds, it is also an important component for the overall diversity outreach efforts of The Walt Disney Company, which was recently recognized as one of the Top 50 companies for diversity by DiversityInc, and is the parent company of ABC Studios. Supported by the ABC Diversity Group, affiliated with ABC’s New Talent Development Group and administered by Jean Hester, executive director, Production Administration, ABC Studios, the Associates Program launched in 2000 with 98 Los Angeles-based applicants and has since grown to administer over 500 applications from people all over the United States who desire to gain valuable and enriching hands-on work experience in the entertainment industry. Once selected, the Production Associates are placed into five main groups: Production Management, Production Finance, PostProduction Management, Studio Crafts Management and Production Business and Legal Affairs. They are then supervised and mentored by ABC Studios executives in those departments.

Previously, job placement at the end of each program year has been an impressive 100% for those choosing to stay within the entertainment industry. Associates have been hired in such divergent positions as Set Painter with Local 729; Staff Coordinator with ABC Studios; Western Costume Local 705 member; Post Coordinator at Nickelodeon; Editor, ABC Broadcast Standards and Practices; Credits Administration Manager, ABC Studios; Assistant to President, Storyline Productions; 2nd Accountant, “Desperate Housewives”; Assistant to Senior Vice President, Alternative Programs, ABC; Assistant to the President, Lifetime Television; Staff Coordinator, Disney-ABC International Television. As a key content driver for the Disney-ABC Television Group, the studio will produce 22 productions for broadcast and cable television in the 2008/09 season. 2008-09 ABC Studios Production Associates Program Participants JUANPAOLO CATAPANG – Production Management Catapang recently graduated from George Mason University with a BA in Film and Visual Studies. During his studies, he was an intern at USA Today in McLean, Virginia. NANTALE CORBETT – Post Production Management Holding a BA in Cinema-Television Production from the University of Southern California, in addition to being a USC Presidential Scholar, Corbett has worked as a freelance editor and Co-Executive Producer on “The Cutting Edge” for Trojan Vision Television, as well as interning at “Smallville” for Tollin/Robbins Productions in Burbank, CA. SONIA EVANS – Production Management Moving to Burbank from Chicago, Evans has been a freelance publicist since graduating with a BA in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also attended the Illinois Center of Broadcasting. While in school, Evans interned at WFLD Fox 32 in Chicago, and was a student reporter and anchor at WICB in Lombard, Illinois, as well as Co-Producer/Host for “Community Spotlight” on the same station. KELSEY FALLESEN – Studio Crafts Management After attending Oklahoma Christian University in Graphic Design, with a focus in Advertising and Illustration, Fallesen studied at the Los Angeles Film Studies Center.

Working as a Set Dresser and Prop P.A. on Mimi Leder’s feature film “The Code,” Fallesen has also worked as a P.A. for “CSI: Las Vegas” and “CSI: Miami,” and as a set dresser and set decorator on short films and music videos. BENJAMIN JONES – Production Management A United Negro College Fund honoree, Jones attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he graduated magna cum laude with a BA in English Literature and Linguistics and was recipient of a full academic scholarship, and was a 2005 Phi Beta Kappa Inductee. With experience as an analyst in the Investment Banking/Equity Research Divisions of Credit Suisse First Boston in New York, Jones has also worked as an account associate – Global Health at Manning, Selvage & Lee in New York, interned in marketing at Edelman in Atlanta, and is leaving his current position as Assistant Vice President, Media Relations and Corporate Communications at Bank of American Corporation in New York to move to Burbank.

ENOCH CHANGHEE KIM – Production Finance Kim began his association with the Walt Disney Company in the Guest Research Department as a Market Research Assistant at Disneyland. He continued his career as an office assistant at the University of Southern California Management and Organization Department, and as an employee of Interactive Thoughts in Rolling Hills Estates where he tutored students in mathematics. Prior to graduating with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Management, Kim was a Mergers & Acquisitions Intern at Harvey & Company Merchant Bank in Newport Beach. DEBORAH LIN – Production Management A graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a BS in General Biology and a Minor in Communication, Lin was an International Exchange Student at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. She has interned at the San Diego CW Television Station, at “The Closer,” was a BBC Blast Youth Panel Representative, worked on the British Education and Training Technology (BETT) Exhibition in London, England, and was a marketing coordinator for FUSION 2008, the largest Asian Awareness Hip-hop dance competition on the West Coast. JOSHUA R. PINEDA – Production Management With a diploma from John Ehret High School in New Orleans, LA, Pineda has worked as an associate manager at Pier One Imports in Miami, FL, as assistant manager of Z Gallerie in Miami, and as stockroom manager for Pottery Barn in Miami. PARUL PURI – Business and Legal Affairs Majoring in Political Science and minoring in Public Affairs at the University of California, Los Angeles, Puri graduated in June 2008 with a BS. She spent time at the University of California, Washington, DC, Center with a media studies internship and theater production field studies concentration. Puri was on the Dean’s List, was a UCLA Alumni Scholar and Scholarship recipient, Governor’s Scholar, and Co-President, Sikh Student Association, Los Angeles. She has interned at The Talk Radio News Service in Washington, DC, clerked at Littler Mendelson in Los Angeles, interned at Congressman

Henry A. Waxman’s District Office in Los Angeles, and holds a Black Belt in SK Tae Kwon Do. BRITTANY WILLIAMS – Production Finance Prior to receiving a BA in Radio-TV-Film from California State, Fullerton, where she was Treasurer of the TV Film Society, on the Dean’s List, Williams worked as a Volunteer/Intern at the Sundance Film Festival, as a Talent Page at Michael Francis, and on the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, and spent 3 years as a Student Financial Services Student Assistant at CSUF.
