Job Description: Assistant Manager Reporting to: - Radio 6DBY Station Manager A progressive Indigenous Radio Station is looking for an Assistant Manager to present a daily program and help manager run the station, ideally with either broadcasting and/or administration experience, or with the ability to learn. Duties include: • Liaise with and assist the Radio Station Manager, oversee the day-to- day activities of the station. • Presentation of a radio program. Produce and present consistent high- quality, entertaining, informative and educational programs for radio broadcast as required, and in accordance with Radio 6DBY’s program format. Rotating and weekend shifts may be required. • Radio programming. • Digital audio production. Conduct and edit field interviews. Produce station ids, promos, sponsorship messages and other audio material, using digital software. • Production of current affairs/ news items and stories. Assist with special promotional activities and outside broadcasts • Liaison with sponsors and the community in general. • Maintain a current knowledge of and comply with the legislative requirements of the Australian Broadcasting Authority and the Broadcasting Code of Practice • Commit to and apply Radio 6DBY’s policy on Occupational Health and Safety and Cultural Diversity • Compliance with funding, financial, and reporting requirements. • Other duties as requested by the Radio Station Manager Desirable Have knowledge of, and an ability to work within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, and to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats. • Current WA driver’s licence. • Demonstrated reliability and professional attitude. • Computer skills. • Good oral and literacy skills • Technical Knowledge Salary and Conditions Salary dependant upon qualifications and experience. Starting at $18 per hour for 37.5 hour week, includes annual holidays, sick pay and superannuation The successful applicant will be subject to a three month probation period with an assessment after 13 weeks. Initial employment will be for a 12 month period. Job Description : Broadcaster Reporting to: - Radio 6DBY Station Manager Main duties Versatile presenter who can produce and present either 3 hour music program or 1 hour local current affairs program, audio productions, other duties as directed by Station Manager. Experience an advantage however, we will train a suitable applicant Selection criteria Essential: • Have knowledge of, and an ability to work within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, and to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats. • Be able to demonstrate ability to use office equipment and to use basic computer programs. • Interviewing experience or willingness to learn • Be able to demonstrate a professional phone manner. • Be able to demonstrate a sound work ethic, especially in terms of reliability, punctuality and honesty. • Be able to contribute effectively to a small team environment. • Be prepared to work shifts. • Be prepared to undergo training as required. • Be able to obtain a Police clearance. • Have a knowledge of music across a broad range of genres. • Have working knowledge of Broadcast Law and Code of Practice • Work under direction of Station Manager Desirable: • Have some knowledge, and experience of the radio industry, in particular the Indigenous radio sector. • Possess a current WA driver’s licence for a manual vehicle, or be able to obtain same within a short period of time. • Knowledge of audio-editing software would be an advantage. Indigenous Traineeship _ Reception /Admin Assistant – Part-Time DUTIES include: • Liaise with and assist the Radio Station Manager. • General reception and telephone answering duties. • General clerical work including filing, recording, correspondence and mail collection. • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the station’s music database and music library. • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the organisation’s asset register. • Assist in the production of radio programs. • Commit to and apply Radio 6DBY’s policy on Occupational Health and Safety and Cultural Diversity. • Assist with special promotional activities and outside broadcasts. • Undertake training as required • General cleaning duties. • Other duties as requested by the Radio Station Manager. SELECTION CRITERIA • Basic computer skills • Good oral and written communication • Sound work ethic, especially in terms of reliability, punctuality and honesty • WA drivers licence SALARY The wage payable for the position of Receptionist /Admin Assistant at commencement is $15 per hour, with holiday pay, sick pay and superannuation. 12 month contract with 3 month probation period. Shift work may be required. A current Police clearance is required for all positions
