Fresh Vegetable Juices "When you don't feel well, stop eating and go to juices." Juices are like a blood transfusion. A glass of fruit and vegetable juice takes very little digestion, if any. It goes right into your body. We look at juices in the same way a doctor would look at an I.V It's something that can go right into your bloodstream. Dr. Richard Schulze: Juice-Fasting Enzymes Vitamins Minerals Juicers - The most powerful healing diet ! One-quarter of what you eat keeps you alive. The other three-quarters keeps your doctor alive. (Hieroglyph found in an ancient Egyptian tomb.) Lemonade The Master Cleanser diet/fast otherwise known as the lemonade diet (lemonade fast) has been around close to 50 years. It's the easiest way to give a rest to your digestive organs, and, together with salt water flush, to achieve effective cleansing of your bowel, your kidneys, your liver and your whole body. Benefits of Juicing Breast cancer, cancer of the colon, esophagus, stomach, lungs, ovaries, and rectum - pick and ailment these days, it seems, and researchers somewhere are searching for chemicals in plants that will prevent them, or offer a cure. These plant chemicals, known as phytochemicals, are the cutting edge of nutritional research because they hold the keys to preventing some of our most deadly diseases, such as cancer and heart disease, as well as some of our most common, like asthma, arthritis, and allergies. The phytochemicals that researchers have uncovered are changing the way we think about food, especially fruits and vegetables. for example, broccoli contains a substance that may prevent - even cure - breast cancer. Citrus fruits have substances that make it easier for your body to remove carcinogens, thus decreasing the chance of contracting cancer. Grapes contain a phytochemical that appears to protect each cells' DNA from damage. Similarly, a number of green vegetables contain phytochemicals that appear to offer protection against cancer-causing substances. The list goes on and on: bok choy, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, collards, kale, kohlrabi, mustard greens, rutabaga, turnip greens, red beets, peppers, garlic, onions, leeks, and chives are but a few of the vegetables that appear to have cancer-preventing phytochemicals. Another benefit of juicing is derived from the rich supply of enzymes contained in the fruits and vegetables. "When fruits or vegetables are juiced, their enzymes are released and immediately go to work when they are consumed," says Dr. Bailey. "This aids the body in its constant work of dissolving and eliminating wastes, as well as speeding delivery of the vital nutrients contained in the juice." Fruit juices, and fruits in general, are often referred to as the cleansers of the body. Fruits are referred to as cleansers because their natural acidity helps the body clean itself of unwanted bacteria Or, for another example, consider fresh juice's ability to deliver another important group of nutrients, know as enzymes. Enzymes are your body's work force. Acting as catalysts in hundreds of thousands of chemical reactions that take place throughout the body, enzymes are essential for digestion and absorption of food, for conversion of food stuffs into body

tissue, and for the production of energy at the cellular level. In fact, enzymes are critical for most of the metabolic activities taking place in your body every second of every day. Fresh juices are a tremendous source of enzymes. In fact, the "freshness" of juice is one of their key features, because enzymes are destroyed by heat. When you eat cooked foods, whether its meal, grains, fruits, or vegetables, if the food is cooked at temperatures above 114 degrees, the enzymes have been destroyed by the heat. Since fruits and vegetables are juiced raw, the enzymes are still viable when you drink the juice. Plus, since juicing removes the indigestible fiber, these nutrients are available to the body in much larger quantities than if the piece of fruit or vegetable was eaten whole. For example, because many of the nutrients are trapped in the fiber, when you eat a raw carrot, you are only able to assimilate about 1% of the available beta carotene. When a carrot is juiced, removing the fiber, nearly 100% of the beta carotene can be assimilated. The following are suggestions on how to obtain maximum health benefits from juicing: ---Wash all produce thoroughly before juicing. There are commercial solutions available which also rid produce of pesticides. ---Skins of oranges and grapefruits should be removed and discarded before juicing. These skins can contain toxic substances. Tropical fruits should also be peeled first. Remove seeds from fruit before juicing. Grape seeds may be left in fruit. ---When juicing vegetables, use the entire plant including stems and leaves, except in the cases of rhubarb and carrots. Rhubarb leaves and carrot tops contain toxic substances. ---Cut fruit or vegetables into small pieces before putting into the juice extractor. The extractor will work more efficiently and will have less wear. ---Some fruits and vegetables contain only a small amount of water. When mixing them with those containing more water, juice the ones that contain more water first and add the drier ones last. ---Only make as much juice as can be consumed fairly soon since some juices can become rancid and lose their protective qualities if left for just a few hours. Apple, carrot and orange juices can be frozen in plastic containers and kept for up to a month. ---Combining a variety of juices can multiply the healthful benefits. Always combine juice from greens (broccoli, celery, kale, spinach, etc.) with other juices like carrot or apple, which will give the green juices a more pleasing taste. Never consume more than two ounces of juice from greens at one time since it may cause gastric disturbances. ---Since fruit juices are quite acidic and high in sugar, they should not be consumed in overly large quantities. However, vegetable juices are not as acidic and are better for nutrition. Experimentation can produce some pleasing combinations of the two types. -Carrot is contraindicated in case of CANDIDA infection. Use other vegetable in that case, vegetable that does not contain sugar (cabbage, wheat grass, barley grass, kale, parsley,...). There are very few contraindications to juice therapy. Never drink juices from fruits or vegetables that you are allergic or sensitive to. If you react to sugars (are hypo- or hyperglycemic), dilute high sugar content juices such as carrot and beet with other low sugar juices such as celery. Always dilute fruit juices with water 1:1. Consider stabilizing blood sugar with juices of Jerusalem artichokes and green beans. If yeast is a concern, add two cloves of garlic per quart of juice. Avoid juice fasts if you are pregnant or lactating. For diabetics, close supervision is required.

Diabetes, Hypoglycemia, Candida, etc: If you suffer from a sugar related health problem such as diabetes, hypoglycemia, candida (yeast problems), gout and so on, you should consult your health care professional before juicing fruits. Fruits, especially fruit juice, contain concentrated fruit sugars. Citric Acid: Citric acid is found in citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, grapefruit and oranges. In addition, citric acid is found in cranberries, strawberries, pineapples, peaches and even tomatoes! Citric acid, when taken in excess, is said to make the blood too acidic. As such, it is said that the body tries to alkalize the blood by leaching alkalizing nutrients from the body such as calcium and magnesium. As a result, you want to make sure you are not having too much citric acid in your diet. Malic Acid: Malic acid is found in apples, apricots, cherries, grapes, lemons and peaches. Other fruits that contain malic acid which are not included in the juice list are bananas, plums and prunes. Malic acid is said to be a good antiseptic. Malic acid is also said to aid the intestines, liver and kidneys. Tartaric Acid: Pineapples and grapes are an excellent source of tartaric acid. Tartaric acid has long been known to inhibit some molds and bacteria. Enzymes: All fruit juices contain some enzymes; however, the two most famous are pineapple for its bromelain and papaya for its papain. Most of the bromelain in pineapples is located inside the rind. As a result, it's good to juice the rind too. Don't worry, it doesn't taste bad. In fact, if you ask me, the rind of the pineapple adds extra flavor to the juice! Ultimately, the enzymes in fruits are said to help digest undigested fats and proteins found in the gastrointestinal tract. Why Organic? When possible, it is best to use organically grown fruits. If you are not using organically fruits, then you will always want to remove the peel or rind of the fruits. Unfortunately, a lot of the nutrients in fruits are found within the peel or rind. Oranges, Tangerines and Grapefruit: You always want to remove the peel of oranges, tangerines and grapefruit. The peel is not easily digested by humans and as such can cause problems. Make sure that when you do remove the peel that you leave the white membrane. The white membrane is a valuable source of bioflavanoids which helps the body assimilate and use Vitamin C. Good Combining: Avoid combining fruit juices with vegetable juices. The only fruit that I combine with vegetable juices is apple. When juicing melons, is best to not mix the melon juice with other fruit juices. Melons are a special breed of fruits and do best by themselves.

Juice Recipes Fruit Juice Pineapple – you can use the outside and the core! Great to drink on it’s own before bedtime. Supposedly Pineapple juice on an empty stomach can help you lose weight! Green apple – pits, skin, and all Watermelon – Use the outside as well Orange – Use a peeler for the outer, bitter layer, but keep the white Ginger – skin and all. Ginger is great for digestion and the stomach in general Grapes – Red are supposed to have more antioxidants Kiwi – skin and all. Kiwi tastes great but you lose a lot of the fruit through the juicer. This is one of those fruits that is better to peel the skin and put in blender in a smoothie. Fruit & Vegetable Combined (This one you could add more fruit if you are still transitioning your palate to get to the third juice listed!) Ginger – with skin Green Apple Beet – throw in with skin on Carrots - you don’t need to peel it Kale Broccoli – use the stems and cook the tops if you like or put it all in the juicer Cabbage – green is not bitter tasting like the red. You get a lot of juice from cabbage Radish Celery Lemon – peel outer layer and use white part Collard Greens Just Vegetable….with one green apple! No sugary vegetables Ginger Green apple Kale Broccoli Radish Cabbage Celery Lemon Collard Greens Spinach Beet or carrot All of these juices are healthy.
