-1-USB SMART CARD KEYBOARD USER’S GUIDE OVERVIEW Congratulations on the purchase of your new USB Smart Card Keyboard. This user's guide contains information that will help you to setup and operate your keyboard in a fast and easy manner. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Windows 98/Me/2000/XP operation system (for Touch Manager software; hardware will operate for any IBM compatible PC) USB port FOR ACPI POWER MANAGEMENT Your USB Smart Card Keyboard SK-3105H includes an ACPI power management key – Sleep , located at the top of the keyboard that provide you with a convenient way to manage your PC’s power system. To utilize these two keys, your system is required to meet the following requirements: Microsoft Windows 98 and above operating system ACPI compliant motherboard System BIOS supports PC 99 Wake, Sleep, Power modes ATX motherboard power supply Refer to your computer hardware documentation regarding power-management operation. Ensure that the power-management settings for your operating system are correct, as described in Windows Help. Note that Windows 95 and NT 4.0 do not support ACPI power management feature. KEYBOARD CONNECTION 1. Locate the USB port on your computer. Consult your computer user’s manual for information on the location of your computer’s peripheral ports. 2. Align your Smart Card Keyboard USB connector with the USB port. Gently insert the USB connector into the USB port. Refer to the following illustration: NOTE: The Hot Keys on the top of your keyboard will not function until the Touch Manager software has been installed. Windows 20000 contains embedded support for your keyboard Hot Keys. -2-3. When you have successfully connected the USB connector, the Add New Hardware wizard opens in Windows. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the keyboard installation. BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR YOUR SMART CARD READER INSTALL THE SMART CARD READER DRIVER IN WINDOWS ME/2000/XP NOTE: For more details see "ReadMe.doc" in "SMARTCARD READER" directory. INSTALL THE SMART CARD READER DRIVER IN WINDOWS 98 You must install SCBASE.EXE and SMCLIB.EXE before installation of the smart card reader drivers. These two files are the Microsoft Smart Card Base Components. Please download them from Microsoft’s web site. These provide the necessary files needed to enable smart card aware application(s) or service provider(s) to communicate with a smart card through a reader attached to a PC and its corresponding device driver. After installing the Microsoft Smart Card base Components, you have to continuously install further smart card reader driver. For more details see "ReadMe.doc" in "SMARTCARD READER" directory. SMART CARD READER FEATURES Reads from and writes to all ISO7816-1/2/3/4 microprocessor smart cards. Supports asynchronous card T = 0 and T = 1 protocols. Short circuit detection Automatic power off when the card is removed Compatible with USB specification 1.1 PC/SC 1.0 driver TOUCH MANAGER SOFTWARE INSTALLATION To activate the hot keys on the top of your keyboard under Windows 98 or above, you must install Touch Manager software included in the bundled CD. The installation of your Touch Manager software is a very simple process. 1. Select the “My Computer” icon on your desktop and double-click on your CD-ROM drive. Click on the “SETUP.EXE” file in “TOUCH MANAGER“ directory and follow all of the on-screen instructions. 2. Upon completion of the software installation, Touch Manager will be activated automatically. -3-TOUCH MANAGER SOFTWARE UNINSTALLATION To uninstall Touch Manager follow instructions below. 1. From your “Start” menu, select “Settings”, “Control Panel” and click on the “Add/Remove Programs” icon. 2. From the “Add/Remove Programs” Properties, select “Touch Manager (USB Smart Card Keyboard)” in the list and click Add/Remove button to uninstall. Touch Manager has now been uninstalled completely from the system. USING TOUCH MANAGER After completion of software installation, the "Touch Manager" icon will appear at the lower right side of your screen in the system tray. This icon is used to launch the Touch Manager software. Double-click on the Touch Manager icon and the Touch Manager Panel will appear. You will note that the Touch Manager is a visual representation of the Hot Keys on the top of your USB Smart Card Keyboard. Federal Communications Commission Requirements This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction guide, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that this does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. Consult the dealer or an experienced radio -TV technician for help. Shielded interface cables must be used in order to comply with emission limits. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
