 THE PARTICULAR OF ITS ORGANIZATION, FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

1.        INTRODUCTION:
             Youth (15-35 Years of age) is the biggest reservoir of human resources because of its
size, the energy it has exhibited and the tremendous hope that it can offer toward a bright future.
Almost 33% of the total population of the country is of youth; therefore, youth deserves better
attention, care, love and affection. Keeping this view, the Department of Youth Services, Punjab
was established in November4, 1973.
2.        AIMS/OBJECTIVES;

     a)      To develop all-round personality of youth.

     b)      To render service to community at large and to involve a large section of youth in
             nation building through various activities by channelising their energy in positive
             directions.
3.        FUNCTIONS;

             In order to achieve aims & objective of the department the following functions    are
     performed:-
             a)         To co-ordinate & liaise with Student / Non-Student youth of organized &
                        un organized sector through Assistant Director at District Headquarter to
                        motivate, activate & inspire them to participate in various Youth
                        Development activities being implemented by the Department.
             b)         Non-Student Youth are given organized platform through Village Youth
                        Clubs.
             c)         To develop the qualities of leadership amongst the Youth to enable them
                        to lead the Youth community of their respective areas through various
                        development activities.
             d)         To strengthen their attitude, positive mindset and their responsibility
                        toward their community.
             e)         To encourage them to participate collectively for the upliftment of weaker
                        sections of Society.
             f)         To offer them opportunity to gauge the various historical, religious and
                        cultural heritage of other States.
             g)         To give them a common Platform and enable them to display their hidden
                        talent in various cultural activities.
             h)         To make the Youth rough & tough and to strengthen their mental power
                        through various adventurous activities.
             j)         To give recognitions of the outstanding work done in various Youth
                        activities, Suitable Award at State Level are given.
             k)        To keep the Youth aware from various programmer like Drug addiction,
                        AIDS/HIV etc. Various programmes of the State Government are carried
                        out. /
