Fruit of Her Labors
Bay Area artist Donna Gaul has created a unique artwork specifically for Make-A-Wish and yes, life can be a bowl of strawberries. Donna Gaul’s interest in art has always been in realism. From the Old Masters to the present, she has been inspired by artists that can capture a moment in time: Frederic Lord Leighton for a perfection of proportion and composition; Maxfield Parrish in his technique to capture light and paint in pure color: and Norman Rockwell’s ability to convey human emotions. The result is this 12x16" photo realistic still life, rich in depth life and details, such as the reflection of a shooting star on the silver creamer. Beautifully gold framed, add it to your collection, and practice the art of the deal, with the high bid.

Biker Gang Invades Valley, Decorum Disturbed
(Napa, CA) A band of marauding bicyclists swept through this sleepy farming community over the weekend, sparking riots of irreverence and leaving a trail of empty tasting glasses and stained napkins in its wake. No injuries were reported. Hilarity was rampant, according to witnesses. The gang of six was initially spotted securing gourmet provisions at Taylor’s Refreshers in St. Helena. They then acquired well-equipped bicycles at St. Helena Cyclery and set out on a tasting tour of nearby wineries. The first breach of propriety was reported at Duckhorn Vineyards Estate during a private tour and tasting. The pack, armed with corkscrews and fine cheeses, had earlier procured bottles of Duckhorn 2001 Napa Valley Merlot and Paraduxx 2001 Napa Valley Red Wine in a wood box. Eluding all authority, the restless gang descended on Peju Province, Wine & Spirits Magazine’s “Top Artisan Winery of the Year,” for a private tour and barrel tasting with the winemaker. The wild bunch was last seen polishing off the remainder of its picnic lunch and debating the disbursement of a Mulholland Brothers 6 bottle wine carrier and 6 bottles of 2000 Viader Valley, Proprietary Cabernet Blend Napa Valley a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. SF Giants Box, Spring Training and Baseballs

Distill, My Heart
Few producers of Cabernet are spoken of as highly as Jordan Vineyard & Winery. Rather symbolic of its reputation is this giant Imperial (6 Liter) of 1994 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon. True to its heritage, it is richly textured and full-bodied. It whispers of fresh herbs and oak, murmurs seductively about vanilla, and speaks openly of blackberry, black cherry and cassis. Etched, and signed by winemaker Rob Davis, this clearly is a wine with lots to say. Eloquent as well, but with a different accent, is your 6 liter 2000 Atlas Peak Pinot Noir, a rarity blended and barreled specifically for the Rusty Staub Foundation. So speak up, lest the banter descend to the sorrowful, regret-tinged musings common to the low bidder.

Rogêt Liked It, Too
100 points from Parker. Do we have your attention? Yep, old Robert nearly dropped his Riedel praising the 1994 Harlan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. See for yourself with this extremely rare, extremely large 3 Liter bottle. Another powerhouse is the Dunn Vineyards 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Napa Valley. This large 5 Liter format is full of “roasted aromas of blackcurrant and black raspberry. Suppler and denser than the 1999, showing more breadth and depth of fruit.” The Herb Lamb Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignons are described by winemaker Mike Trujillo as, “the stylish representation of classic mountain fruit without the tannin”. Vintage 2000 shows great finesse and balance, while the 1999 is intense and opulent. These two are both 1.5 liter etched bottles. All these fabulous wines were built for the long haul, and will continue to age gracefully well into the next decade. We all should be so lucky.
