Mission Statement The mission of Camp Courage is to inspire people of all ages to live a life of faith with courage through Jesus Christ. Camp Courage will: 1. Strive, through a safe, fun and adventurous environment, to provide opportunity for people to grow spiritually, gain individual confidence, form lifelong friendships, and create empowering lasting memories. 2. Provide a team of compassionate people who will work together to care for the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of each visiting camper regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, or social status. 3. Foster and encourage safe relationships encompassing families, churches, and youth groups of all kinds both within and outside the church through shared and personal experiences pertaining to the camp or retreat environment. 4. Accomplish its Biblical mission through a purposefully and spiritually guided week of; cabin (small group) devotions, community and individual worship, quality time, playing games together, team building initiatives, recreational activities, quiet times and prayer focus. Team Leader Description Overview Camp Courage is founded upon the principle of relationship. Jesus developed His relationship with each disciple to change their culture, their region and the world for all time. We want kids who attend Camp Courage to know they are valued and loved and that a relationship with Jesus Christ is the most courageous decision they will make. These goals will happen primarily through time spent with their Cabin Leader. Although a Cabin Leader’s primary focus is spending time with kids he/she will have other responsibilities to perform. Cabin Life Learning together, living together, working together, listening, praying and having fun together are the building blocks for a successful camper and cabin leader experience. Cabin Leaders are responsible for overseeing the spiritual growth, physical health and safety of a group of 6-8 students during their camp experience. Cabin Leaders are also responsible for helping with the overall program objectives. Physical and emotional safety should be the top priority for all volunteer cabin leaders. When a child feels safe they are more likely to respond to spiritual encouragement and direction. Qualifications Shall be at least 18 years old Shall have a vibrant growing relationship with Jesus Christ Must obtain a CPR First Aid Certification (provided at training) Team Leader Description cont. Should complete leader training material provided prior to training week Shall be sensitive to the spiritual needs of campers in his/her care Should demonstrate an excitement for life as lived through the Holy Spirit Should be practiced in leading someone else into a relationship with Jesus Christ Should feel comfortable and excited to share their faith with others Able to lead a bible study and lead in prayer Should be able to handle the Word of God accurately Must receive instruction and/or correction with a submissive heart and good attitude Shall be able to understand and follow all safety procedures Shall be comfortable correcting others in love when necessary Shall cooperate well within a team dynamic Able to divide time equally between kids and know how to keep one child from monopolizing your time Shall understand relational boundaries Commitment 1 week on site training; 1-2 weeks camp commitment (vol. hours: 168-300+) This is a summary of job duties that are specific to a Team Leader but does not describe in detail any other duty or duties that a Team Leader may be asked to fulfill as needed.
