Peggy’s Ponderings I can hardly believe that it’s already almost Thanksgiving. I’m not sure where the months have gone to. The time has gone by fast. Maybe it’s just a sign of getting older. It does seem that time goes by faster the older I get. Doesn’t it seem that way to you too? But as Thanksgiving comes close, I can’t help but think about the blessings I have had and that this church has had. We can’t even count them all. One of the blessings we have had is the people in this church through all of its years that have been so faithful. You can name their names. We have been blessed through them. As I have done each year for many years, I want to share a thanksgiving poem that was given to me by Jo Salem. Even when she was in the nursing home, she reminded me to share it because the poem had meant so much to her and to others. THANKSGIVING A Prayer of Thanks Thank you, God for everything I’ve experienced on earth – Thank you for protecting me from the moment of my birth – And thank you for the beauty around me everywhere, The gentle rain and glistening dew, the sunshine and the air. The joyous gift of “feeling” the soul’s soft, whispering voice That speaks to me from deep within and makes my heart rejoice – Oh, God, no words are great enough to thank you for just living, And this is why every day Is a day for real Thanksgiving. I hope that you will read those words again and again. Everything that we have belongs to God. It is God who gives us life – not only our physical, earthly life but also our heavenly life in the presence of God for eternity. That is why we give thanks at Thanksgiving. That is why we can give thanks every day. Count your blessing. Name them one by one. Count your many blessings. See what God has done.
