CAN WE REALLY MAKE A LOT OF MONEY SELLING POPCORN?
YES! TOP SELLING UNIT – $19,319 AVERAGE SELLING UNIT – $5,142
For best results it is suggested that you take a look at your unit’s program for the next year. From this, you can begin to piece together the monetary needs of the unit. This will help Scouts and parents understand exactly how their sales will help. After you have set a goal for how the money is to be spent, you can begin to figure out how much popcorn you need to sell. Here is some information that might help:

DO THE SCOUTS EARN ANYTHING?
Absolutely! Thousands of dollars in prizes are awarded by the council to participating Scouts. The more popcorn a Scout sells the better the prize or the greater the cash. It’s that simple!!! Plus: Trails End will award Special Prizes to any Scout who sells $1,500.00 or more. This is in addition to our council’s prize package. Trails End also offers scholarship assistance for those selling $2,500.00 or more. HOW DO WE SELECT THE PRIZES? Your unit will receive a prize selection sheet. When your popcorn order is placed the total of all the prizes you need is also turned in. After your unit settles with the council your prizes will be sent directly to your unit popcorn chairman for distribution to your Scouts. Orders are not placed until bills are paid. No prizes are given after December 30, 2009 payment receipt. Prize Qualification Prizes are awarded based on sales level not dollar amount. The sales level break points are: $25, $225, $325, $425, $625, $825, $1,100, $1,300, $1,800, and $2,300. Each Scout may select one prize from the sales level reached, or one from a lower level. All $25 or more Scouts receive the patch or the pin, unless the unit chooses cash option. Cash Option’s: A Scout who sells more than $100 may choose 5% of his total sale. A unit may choose the 5% for their total sale, again no patches, pins or other prizes.
Popcorn will be delivered to several central locations where it will be sorted into separate unit orders. Do not bring extra people, they take up valuable room in your vehicle. If possible, arrange for a van or truck. Make sure to bring proper tie-down and cover if using an open truck. Use the following chart to visualize the size of your order. Product

For faster and better results, additional help will be needed for sorting individual Scout orders. Use empty popcorn boxes, other cardboard boxes and paper grocery sacks to separate each Scout’s order. Fill one Scout’s order at a time. Label box or bag with the Scouts name and include a copy of his order form and money collection envelope. If room allows, group patrol and den orders separately. After all orders are filled, check your remainders with your total order to see that correct amounts have been sorted. Set a time when Scouts can pick up their orders or when they will be delivered. Get parent signature on popcorn Receipt Form or on Individual Sales Record.
MONEY COLLECTION AND SETTLEMENT WITH THE COUNCIL
1) Tell your Scouts not to collect any money until the popcorn is delivered to the customer. Tell your Scouts not to leave popcorn with a customer until it is paid for. Tell your Scouts to count out loud when giving change to the customer and take their time. Tell everyone not to carry large amounts of cash while delivering popcorn. Tell your Scouts to turn in their monies into the unit Popcorn Chairman when they have collected from all of their customers. Give family a receipt when money is turned in. Record each Scout’s payment on your record sheets. Each unit should pay with one check for the entire amount, by December 18, 2009 to get bonus. Prizes will not be delivered until entire amount has been paid. All payments must be made by December 30, 2009 in the Council Service Center. No prizes including cash prizes will be paid or awarded after this date. 2) 3)
