CCH Profile
CCH is a Non-Governmental Organization, recognized by the Ministry of Interior as listed as local NGO on 22
April 2002. CCH is projected by Mr. Mech Sokha and ideally advised by Ms. OSANAI Mieko and Mr. Oum
Hoeung, Director of Phnom Penh Municipality Department of Education, Youth and Sports. CCH is in
cooperation with Phnom Penh Municipality Department of Education, Youth and Sports. CCH registered as a
member of NGOs Committee on the Rights of the Child (NGOs CRC) on 04 February 2003.

Project background
The imbalance of income and expense of family economy forced rural grass-root people left home land, coming
to collection zone in order to look for jobs for supporting family. Most of poor people have no clear goal; they
have no capital, no skills, which make them facing to shelter-less, caused child left school. Children are working
as garbage pickers, beggars, shoe polisher, etc. Family violence is also the case of losing hope, compassion,
from parents that caused lonely children working along the street as selling magazine, newspaper, tape
cassette, car protection, selling flower, etc.

Young girl, 6 to16 years old children are raped, and other children are trafficked by parents and care takers from
rural areas. The crimes are not settled in court just making payments. Corrupt law enforcement and court
officials have long been implicated in helping foreign pedophiles. Presently, some street children become big-
brother, using heroine, committing crime Children was sexually abused by foreigners and rich people. Some
parents forcibly sell children in order to make money for family life.


Vulnerable children/orphans in Cambodia have better health care and
education of knowledge, skills for job opportunity, moral and learn to live together in happiness.

(1) To improve health care to all stayed children through providing lodging, food and accommodation.

(2) To upgrade the quality of education, inside and outside the country, of knowledge, skills and attitude with
good manner and morality when they become adults the young citizens will be responsible for their own action
and decision making socially and legally.

(3) To build capacity to staffs and CCH Young adults on children's rights, on children development, on
psychology of the child and child teaching methods and cultural preservation.

(4) To create the community learning service programme to CCH teenagers and young adults through road-
show, mobile library and community development programme

(5) To create the useful projects and income generating programme by providing jobs to the CCH young adults
for making money to pay for daily life

The rights of the child given to poor/vulnerable children, both boys and girls, who are rubbish pickers, are
trafficked by giving opportunity in getting better health, education, social, moral and emotional well-being. When
they become at the age of 18 years, young citizens become fully responsible for their own decisions and actions,
both legally and socially.

Process Objectives
   1. To improve living condition of garbage children by providing health care with lodging, food and
      accommodation to needy/vulnerable children
   2. To improve education of knowledge and skills nationally and internationally and improving attitude by
      upgrading learning social and life skills at CCH for job opportunity by raising awareness for self help and
      mutual help, self-reliance, self esteem when they at the age of 18 years old the young citizens are
      responsible of their own actions and decision socially and legally.
   3. To improve the child education and teaching methods, and cultural preservation with traditional dances
      to needy/vulnerable children by promoting child participation in every entertainment, sightseeing, study
      visit of cultural resorts, and also participating in national events benefited for the child
   4. To create the community service done by the CCH teenagers and young adults by doing road-show, fix
      and mobile library
   5. To create job opportunity by opening shop for making money

Outcome Objectives
1. Poor children will be provided lodging, accommodation, clothes and health care and service within the six
    years project time frame at CCH.
2. Stayed children will be provided general education and education supplies, as well as moral as needed.
    CCH teenagers and young adults get favorite skills for job opportunity.
3. CCH staff, children and young adults know the child education and psychology with goos teaching methods.
    They will be trained traditional dances and given opportunity of sightseeing fitted to cultural and traditional
    dances and studies
4. CCH staff, teenagers and young adults understanding the children and social problems and can make
    action plan to help with mutual help in the society by doing road-show once a week and library.
5. Available shop opened for the skillful children and youths to learn how to do marketing and making money

        .1  To provide sleeping materials and clothes for home use
        .2  To provide food of 3 meals a day and one dessert twice a week
        .3  To provide eating materials
        .1  To provide education materials
        .2  To provide uniform to every kid
        .3  To arrange Khmer and English volunteer to teach children at CCH
        .4  To provide general text books, toys and education games for library
        .5   To train child on social skills and morality
        .6  To look for volunteers to teach children all subjects needed like: English, Japanese, Maths, Khmer,
            Law, making education materials and so on.
        2.7 To train big children after 13 years old preferred skills like: English, Japanese, computer, cook, waiter
        and waitress, sewing, motor-bike repair, car repair, hair-dressing and electronic
        3.1 To train CCH children
        3.2 To give job opportunity after training when they are over 18 years old
        3.3 To train social skills like vegetable farming, house work and poultry
        4.1 To provide entertainment though sightseeing

        5. To open shops for making income

Target group
Children who are working as garbage pickers at the dump and who are trafficked
- 1st Criteria: Parentless
- 2nd criteria: Motherless and fatherless
- 3rd criteria: Poor/vulnerable children

Project Implementation:
     CCH presently access to the dump to survey for children who have no parent. In fact, there parentless
     children living with caretakers, relatives and grandmother mostly CCH staffs go to the dump once or twice
     a week in cooperation with village leader. CCH makes a list of vulnerable children in order to protect them
     from the drug addict and big brother.

      In case, CCH finds donors to sponsor the child CCH priority the child selection, then take him/her to check
      blood for better understanding epidemic disease.

      CCH take the child to stay temporarily at CCH for making staying test for two weeks. CCH needs the
      answer from the child, He/she makes her/his own decision to stay at CCH for their better future of they
      return home after two week test. During the two week test the old children tell him/her many things about
      behavior change in order to get better education and good manner.

        •   Child study
            The kids study at public school. After the class they learn at CCH with volunteer teachers and staffs.
            CCH also provide English class by volunteer teachers. CCH also focus on morality that children
            have to know self understanding about what they do, how they develop their personality. Self-help
            and mutual-help is nonstop strategy that children speaking once another at CCH regarding to all
            action that children doing. Autocratic meeting is done daily before having class at CCH.

        • Library
        Library consists of textbooks, picture books, folktale story, English Books, dictionaries. Children can
            make team to play folktale story such as “goat and wild dog ", etc. Children can play, sing and dance
            foreign and traditional music, songs and dance. CCH Children occasionally provide children to draw
            for creative education.      Children really need toy and other creative things for intellectual
            development. CCH contacts to other NGOs for film or video show about the present consequences

        •   Food
            CCH provide three meals daily with one kind of food for breakfast and 2 kinds of food for lunch and
            dinner. Every kid has their own plat, spoon, and fork and so on for eating materials. Children
            occasionally learn how to cook and self-help management for the pre-preparation into adults as the
            good young citizens.

        •   Clothes
            CCH prepares for school uniform and home clothes for every kid. CCH provides beds and sleeping
            materials to every kid like bed, mat, mosquito net, pillow and pillow case. CCH gives children soap
            for washing, shampoo and body soap.

       •     Health care
            CCH takes children to pediatric hospital in case they have serous sickness. Children are provided
            tooth bush and paste. Mostly children get dental sickness; therefore CCH has to pay much money
            for repair or re-input new teeth. CCH also provides vaccination to all children.

        •   Entertainment
        -   Children watch animation in TV at 10:45 to 11:45 and 16:45 to 18:00. CCH also plays VCD of
            animation Tom and Jerry on Sunday. Kids watched traditional classical dance at NGOs. Children
            have times to play sports any large land with free of charge. Children ahve sightseeing at the
            cultural resorts, at the beach, at the mountain, etc.

        •   Vegetable planting and animal raising
            These are the life style awareness for empower children about self help by doing very things what
            we can do, doing every thing what they can work socially and legally. Children hyelp plant
            vegetables and fruit trees such as water grass, wax melon, coconut tree, mango trees, papaya trees
            and so on. CCH try the best to create financial independent mechanisms by raising pigs, fishes and
            plant vegetables.

        •   Pre-skill training

           CCH let children thank about their dream for the future
             Sewing skills and silk craft; Computer both hardware and soft ware; Electronic; Mechanic;
             Construction skill; Silk screen print; Barber; Hair-dresser; Cook
             And other skills needed

     CCH organize the old help the young method that the children who formerly stayed at CCH then they
     have skillful skill that can earn money, those people have to voluntarily teach the younger to know what
     they want to learn. Of course, this method take times cannot be implemented presently, may be in three
     years later.

     Young youths over 18 years old and job opportunities
     The 15 years old children can choose skills what they prefer and initiatively learn Children learn both
     general knowledge and skills till they are 18 years old.

     When they are 18 CCH will be responsible for some parts of their needs. The young youths have to make
     money for their daily lives. CCH has youth center for those whose parentless untill they make a family to
     live in wherever they like.

     CCH provides the education fee to all CCH adults who want to continuously study at university

     CCH find them job for young youths if necessary, in case CCH provide tools, equipments and small capital
     to run small business for their daily income to feed family.

     Once a year CCH call on all previous CCH children come to meet together and talk about their business/
     job process. Once a year, the old generation can share ideas to the younger generation for better
     experiences in order to go forwards for better future.
