How to Use the Shopping Cart
The Shopping Cart section can be used by users for online purchasing of different products offered by Chicago
Crime Commission.
The Shopping Cart has seven steps: shopping cart, guest information, member, billing/shipping details,
shipping options, credit card and thank you. Some of the steps can miss from the process according to the
state of the user (logged or not logged) and the type of product (shipping required or register).
For the logged user the missing step is related with the Member information (step 3 from the Shopping cart)
which will be required only for not logged users.
The Shipping options step will miss when a user will register for an event where shipping is not necessary.
To open the Shopping Cart section, go to the left area menus of you administrator account page:

Register for an Event (Purchase a Product with Guests)
A user can register for an event whether is logged in or not to his/her Chicago Crime Commission account. If
somebody wants to register for an event and hasn’t got a Chicago Crime Commission account, he/she will be
redirected to a page where he/she can set a temporary password to register for the event and an account will
be automatically created. At the end of the process the new user will receive an email containing his/her newly
created account credentials. It is highly recommended for the user to change the temporary password received
via email.
A user can invite one or more persons to attend at an event. The number of guests that can participate to an
event is set up by the administrator and depends on the type of the event. A user can have access to events
depending on the rights associated with the given role in the Chicago Crime Commission site. The
administrator can access all the events whereas a public user can view and participate only to the events
available for his role. The administrator can also enter any events details from the Events page.
For registering and paying for taking part at an event with guests you first need to select the event from the
Item Type List or go to the Events section from the top menu bar.
Click on the Item Type List link from the left area menus of your administrator account page and you will open
a page containing all the available products (publications, events, auctions). From this list you can select any
event of your interest.
If you click on Events from the top menu bar of the Chicago Crime Commission site, a page containing the list
with all the events will be displayed. A user with fewer rights will see all the events but will not be able to
access the ones which are not accessible because of his/her role limitations.
Figure 15: Events List; Example of an Item
For accessing all the actions and details related to a specific event from the events list, first you need to click
on the event (for instance the Board of Directors Meeting event presented at Figure: Events List; example of
an Item).
In the window that will open after clicking on the event, you need to select the type of action you want to further
take (for example booking a table or taking part in a meeting related to the chosen event).
Figure 16: Type of Action for an Event
You can see the number of items available (for example available tables for the event) and the price for each
table.

item for a certain event). You can change the quantity by inserting a different value in the Quantity field.
You can remove an event from your event shopping cart using the Remove button next to the product of
