Specification for a window system for fitting into the Hoesch isowand integral wall system, made from thermally decoupled aluminium profiles

1.

General information

This specification is for the supply of FSI type aluminium window frames provided by ThyssenKrupp Bausysteme, designed to suit the Hoesch isowand integral wall system. The Hoesch isowand integral sandwich element are to be installed laid horizontally. The FSI window system is normally installed together with the wall system, i.e. in one operation. If necessary, the window frames may also be fitted subsequently in the wall apertures provided for this purpose. Both the wall and the window system are intended for use in industrial and administration buildings or in buildings of similar kind. Our quotation is based on the attached documents, i.e. specifications, drawings, detailed drawings etc.. The information on the precise profile dimensions (depths and widths) and on design features must be taken into consideration. Any deviations from the information contained herein are indicated in the description of the various items. The dimensions of the sections making up the window frames may be different from the nominal thickness of the wall system. Profiles that are required to be reinforced for structural or formal reasons are not listed herein. They will be calculated and specified separately, depending on a structural analysis provided by the customer. Supplies and services which, in the opinion of the installation company are required, but which are not fully described in the specification, must be described and details submitted in a supplementary quotation. For the execution of work, the details of this specification, the general technical regulations of VOB, the relevant standards for this type of work, official regulations, guidelines of associations and directives of the manufacturers of the building elements and materials in their latest version shall apply. The exact dimensions will be defined by means of structural analysis. The same applies to a vertical member behind the vertical connection, which must also be determined by means of structural analysis.

Hoesch isowand integral® with window system FSI

Material: Aluminium Extruded aluminium sections of AlMgSi 0, 5 F22 alloy (EN AW 6060), anodized, as per DIN 1748 (DIN EN 755) and DIN 17615 (DIN EN 12020) will be used.

Material: Steel Steel parts for anchoring and reinforcing purposes must be hot-dip galvanised. Any retouching of gaps and any other damage must be carried out in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1461.

Profiles The profiles must be thermally insulated. The inner and outer sheets must be continuously connected by thermally insulated profiles. The profiles must safely transmit loads as per DIN 1055. The shear forces occurring between the inner and the outer sheet must be reliably transmitted. The moments of inertia specified by the manufacturer (I x und Iy) must be taken into consideration when determining the size of the section and of any additional horizontal members. The principle of thermal insulation must be maintained for the complete structure. All composite sections are designed as three-chamber systems (two hollow sections plus a composite zone). The heat transfer coefficients of the sections (Uf) are demonstrated by calculation acc. to DIN EN ISO 10077-2 or by a test certificate, the heat transfer coefficients of the glazing ( Ug) are determined according to the classification of the German Federal Gazette or as per DIN EN 673, DIN EN 674, DIN EN 675, in accordance with the temporary regulations of BmVBW. The connections of the sections are watertight and resistant to water without any additional sealing. The rebate base of the profiles is absolutely plain (also in the connecting area), so that moisture is always led to the deepest, outermost level (gutter) of the rebate without the necessity for any additional drainage channels. In the case of insulated glazing units, rebate base ventilation is in accordance with the directives of the manufacturer of the units. The minimum and maximum sizes and weights of casements specified for the section system must be observed.

Profile connections The cross section of corner connections corresponds to the inner profile contour. In the case of mitre joints, appropriate adhesion of the mitre surface must be ensured. On T joints, penetration of water into the structure is prevented by the use of suitable fillers and permanent elastic sealing. In the case of thermally insulated profiles, the insulation effect is fully maintained in the area of corner and Tconnections.

Sealing of casements All sealing profiles are fitted so as to permanently comply with the requirements of the stress analysis applicable to the window structure. Seals can be replaced. For turn, tilt-and-turn and French casement windows a central seal is specified.

Draining water from the structure Rebates and profiled grooves into which water and condensate may penetrate are drained to the outside in a concealed manner.

Fittings The fittings used for the structure form part of the system and are described in the manufacturing documents. If other fittings are to be used, these must be selected taking due account of the applicable DIN standards. Unless otherwise provided for in the specification, all fittings with the exception of handles and hinge plates must be installed in a concealed manner. Fittings installed in the rebate must be connected to the profiles. When fastening screws into profile walls riv-nuts or backing pieces will be used.

Coloured coating powder The coloured coating of aluminium sections and/or sheets consists of a polyester-based powder with a min. layer thickness of 50 µm. The powder must be quality-assured by GSB International and/or QUALICOAT. The contractor carrying out the coating work must possess the quality mark bestowed by GSB International ("Gütegemeinschaft für die Stückbeschichtung von Bauteilen", Franziskanergasse 6, D-73525 Schwäbisch Gmünd) or the quality mark bestowed by QUALICOAT („Zertifizierungsstelle für Beschichtungen auf Aluminium“, Tödistraße 47, CH8002 Zürich). Profiles and structural elements for use in coastal areas and/or exposed to salty or chlorine atmosphere must undergo a special pre-anodising process before powder coating, in order to protect them against filiform corrosion. Powder coating including pre-anodizing (MVA) must comply with the Schüco guidelines or equivalent directives. FSI 60 Window system

Thermally insulated window system 60 mm thick, designed to suit Hoesch isowand integral, with a nominal thickness of 60 mm, with concealed draining, optionally with sashes opening to the outside or with sashes flush with the inside surface. Design features: Casement opening to the inside, arranged with an offset of 10 mm to the frame surface, flush with the outside surface. An inner seal for the rebate is fitted all around and is not interrupted by hinge plates and/or corner bearings. In the area of hinge plates and corner bearings the sealing lip is suitably notched; as an alternative, suitably formed sealing elements are fitted in the corners of the casement. The large-volume hollow chamber central sealing is fitted in the insulation area. All corner and T connections are provided with fasteners, which ensure, by their labyrinthine design, controlled distribution of the adhesive. The joints of the pressed-on rebates are furthermore provided with corner/joint sealing elements or mitred joints or splice plates made from stainless steel. The T joints are sealed with sealing cushions which are part of the system and permanently elastic sealants in the area of the labyrinth-shaped joint sealing elements. In order to ensure efficient rebate base ventilation, special glazing clips which are part of the system must be used. The system is equipped with rectangular glazing bars, which are fitted using plastic holders which compensate for any variations within tolerance. For increased thermal protection, glazing seals are used. Furthermore, the glazing seals are formed in such a manner that they do not appear as a broad edge to the viewer. FSI 80 Window system

Thermally insulated window system 75 mm thick, designed to suit Hoesch isowand integral, with a nominal thickness of 80 mm, with concealed drainage, optionally with sashes opening to the outside or with sashes flush with the inside surface. Design features: Casement opening to the inside, arranged with an offset of 10 mm against the frame surface, flush with the outside surface. An inner seal for the rebate is fitted all around and is not interrupted by hinge plates and/or corner bearings. In the area of hinge plates and corner bearings the sealing lip is suitably notched; as an alternative, suitably formed sealing elements are fitted in the corners of the casement. FSI 100 Window system

Thermally insulated window system 75 mm thick, designed to suit Hoesch isowand integral, with a nominal thickness of 100 mm, with concealed drainage, optionally with sashes opening to the outside or with sashes flush with the inside surface. Casement opening to the inside, arranged with an offset of 10 mm against the frame surface, flush with the outside surface. An inner seal for the rebate is fitted all around and is not interrupted by hinge plates and/or corner bearings. FSI 120 Window system

Casement opening to the inside, arranged with an offset of 10 mm against the frame surface, flush with the outside surface. 4.1

Fittings
Fittings for windows

Fittings to be used for the different window opening types are described below in their basic configuration. For additional components such as hinges and locks as well as additional scissor stays, the design loads have to be taken into account. Other additional components such as locks, opening limiters, locks and handles are separately described and separately invoiced if they are not part of the system.

BF 1 "Tilt and turn fitting for casement loads of up to 90/130 kg" Design features: Tilt and turn fitting with single-hand operation. The fitting is equipped with a lock in the tilt and turn position protected against erroneous operation, the integral anti-unhinge lock is active in the tilt position. Scissor stays and corner bearings are provided with plastic cover caps. The illustrations of the fitting components, i.e. horizontal bars, corner pieces, stop blocks, corner bearings, loadrelief bearings and scissors are self- explanatory. These parts are fastened into the grooves provided. In case of the 130 kg design, the corner and scissor bearings are additionally anchored in the frame / -sash bar using special screws. All fittings are made from corrosion resistant materials.

BF 18" Fitting for transom window 0L-90 S" Design features: Fitting for transom window with one or several scissor stays, arranged crosswise. The scissor stays may be disengaged by a push-button. The opening width is approx. 170 mm. All fitting components, including the covers for the rods and the scissors, are rounded (soft form). The requisite number of scissor stays and hinges as well as the use of vertical locks is to be determined taking account of the design loads for the size of the casement, in accordance with the system manufacturer's design tables. Operation is made using a hand lever (soft form). The covered drawbar can be lowered down to a height of approx. 1400 mm above the upper surface of the floor.

4.2

Fittings for doors

The design and arrangement of door hinges is determined taking account of the design loads, in accordance with the system manufacturer's design tables. Three-piece aluminium door hinges class 4 (frequent use) as per DIN EN 1935, corrosion resistance class 4 as per DIN EN 1670, hinge class 13 as per DIN EN 1935, dimensions 22 x 144 / 170 mm are installed. The complete technical equipment for safe anchoring and fine adjustment is accommodated within the door rebate. In the hollow spaces of the frame sections lining plates which are part of the system must be provided. Without unhinging the door wing, vertical fine adjustment up to approx. 3 mm and lateral fine adjustment up to approx. 1.5 mm can be carried out. using dowels inserted in the end pieces. Locks for emergency exits (for buildings without public access): A lock for emergency exit is designed so as to allow opening of the door from the inside with one single hand operation within one second, without need of a key or similar device. The safety features of the fitting have to comply with the requirements of DIN EN 11215. Panic door locks with horizontal operating rod (for public buildings): A panic door lock is designed so as to open the door once the horizontal bar on the door inside is pushed downwards, without need of a key or similar device. Once the operating bar has reached the fully lowered position, the door must be released in less than 1 second. The safety features of the fitting have to comply with the requirements of DIN EN 179. System accessories: Accessories such as cylinder rosettes, latch pins, seals, fasteners and base point sealing are not specifically mentioned in the following description but they do form part of the supply.

BT 1 "Fitting for single-leaf doors" Door hinges designed to suit expected loads. Latch-catch lock, double-turn, stainless steel cuff plate, door bolt (protected against forced cutting) and catch bolt, nickel-plated, prepared for a cylinder lock. 5.

Glazing

The description below is a general guideline for delivery and installation of glazing for aluminium building elements. The dimensions specified herein relate to the aluminium building elements. The costs for determining the glass dimensions must be included in the quoted price, no extra payment will be made. Sealing tapes and padding bridges which are part of the scope of supply of the glazing work are attached to the window cases, including corner pieces, seals and glass accommodations. Other accessories are to be supplied by the glass supplier. The thickness of the glass panes shall be determined on the basis of the design loads, according to the glass manufacturer's design tables. Accident-proof vertical glazing is subject to the official approval of DIBT (German Institute for Building Technology) or to individual approval (ZiE) by the building authority concerned. If an individual approval is required, the owner of the building or his authorized representative must file the application. When installing accident-proof vertical glazing, the technical regulations applicable to the use of accident-proof vertical glazing (TRAV) must be observed. Furthermore, the conditions imposed by the building regulations of the particular Land (LBO) must be adhered to. Below is a description of the glazing types intended for the construction. In the individual descriptions, the abbreviation of the gazing type (GT) is indicated.
