We all had good intentions for this not to happen, but it did. Too much to eat. Too much to drink. Not enough time to get things done sent us to fast food places. Now we feel depressed that our pants are too tight, and we feel fat and we failed to keep our goals. Watch your thoughts. Defeating thoughts lead to defeating actions where in this case can lead you to further weight gain. Every morning is a new morning that leads to a new day. You get to start all over new. What a blessing from the Lord. This new morning is the one that you can start fresh to getting healthy and in shape for the year to come. Make a list of the negative reasons for carrying extra weight. Then make one of the positive reasons for changing your diet and exercising. Keep that list posted in the areas where you know you are weak, like to the door of the refrigerator or in your car so you can see it before you head into the drive thru. When you feel you failed and ate too many cookies, then start over new again. Get rid of the negative thoughts that hang in your brain draining you of hope. Think thoughts of determination to meet your goals, read again the positives and negatives that you listed before and get back on track. You are in control of your body. What you put into your mouth and how you take care of yourself is in your control. Set your mind to it, and your body will follow. Be kind to yourself and patient. Know your weaknesses well. The saying “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer” can be applied to your weight loss weaknesses. For example, if you have been invited to a party where you know there will be tons of calories, don’t ditch the party. Prepare yourself ahead of time with some kind of a plan. When you get through that party and lay your head down on your pillow for the night feeling good that you did not gorge yourself, you will have gained strength for the next temptation that you will have to face. Getting healthy and back into shape is a challenge that takes hard work and discipline. That part may not be fun, but the result is where you will say “it has been worth it.” The results will come not only with feeling good about how you look, but in the satisfaction that you were able to accomplish your goals.
