Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council is set up by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India for the export promotion of pharmaceutical industry in India. Pharmexcil has been entrusted with the responsibility of promotion of export of herbal medicines in India as a thrust area. As an initial step towards achieving this goal, Pharmexcil constitutes a separate Committee for Herbal Industry including Medicinal Plants. The Committee consists of the following eminent persons from the Academia, R&D, Industry, Govt. and Pharmexcil: 1. Objectives of the Committee: The Committee is formed with the following objectives: • • • • • • • To pool the best expertise in the government, industry and academia, for evolving a national strategy for export promotion of naturals and AYUSH To organize goal oriented workshops, meetings and conferences for the export promotion of medicinal plants To suggest a plan of active interface of the commercial attaches of our embassies abroad (selected countries) and NRIs, with Indian drug industry for exploiting identified major niche opportunities. To liaison with the international groups and institution involved in promoting medicinal plants and AYUSH To commission or publish consumer friendly monographs, articles etc., on major medicinal plants and AYUSH modalities. To encourage Indian drug industry to actively pursue the export promotion of medicinal plants and formulations To carry out activities which support any of the aforesaid objectives.

1. Dr. Asokh D B Vaidhya would be the Convener for this Committee who would be taking the lead to organize periodical meetings of the Committee. All the administrative assistance required by the Committee would be provided by the H.O/R.O (Mumbai)/R.O (Delhi.) 2. The Members represent themselves 3. Members shall make their own travel arrangements to attend the meetings. 4. The Committee shall take help of various experts available in specialized fields while making recommendations to the Council/Government.
