QUT Team Tour Information
Congratulations on being selected to represent QUT at the Gold Coast Cluster of Sports being held on the Anzac Day long Weekend. As a new sporting cluster added to the Northern University Championship schedule, we hope to make it a great success to ensure the perpetuation of the event. This is a sanctioned AUS Championship. QUT Will have teams in the following Sports: Indoor Cricket – 1 Open Team Indoor Netball – 1 Women and 1 Mixed Teams Indoor Soccer – 2 Men’s Teams Beach Volleyball – 3 Men & 2 Women Pairs, 1 Mixed 4 Teams Beach Touch – 1 Men, 1 Women & 1 Mixed Teams Beach Ultimate Frisbee – 1 Mixed Surfing – Team of 13 students will contest the Men & Women Stand-up, Men & Women Body Board, Open Long Board, Open Knee Board and Team Challenge The 2005 Northern University Championship – Gold Coast Challenge will be conducted in accordance with the competition rules of the National Sporting Organisation for each sport and the AUS Sports Specific Rules. The AUS Rules are available on the AUS website www.unisport.com.au. Days & Time of Play: Indoor Cricket – 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 2pm on Monday. Indoor Netball – 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 2pm on Monday. Indoor Soccer –8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 2pm on Monday. Beach Volleyball – 8am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 2pm on Monday. Beach Touch – 8am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 2pm on Monday. Beach Ultimate Frisbee – 8am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 2pm on Monday. Surfing – 8am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 2pm on Monday. Please contact your Sport Manager for further information about the draws. QUT Team Accommodation Details: Harbourside Resort 132 Marine Parade Southport Gold Coast Check In: Friday 22nd April 2pm Check Out: Monday 25th April10am Please respect the other guest in the complex by keeping your noise down to a minimum from 10pm. If any damage is done to any room you will be responsible for paying for this before departing the complex. A QUT Staff Member is on call during the event and will be checking rooms on arrival and departure, so not leave the complex until you have signed the Room Inspection documentation. Travel Details: Please arrange you own transport to the Gold Coast. Contact your Team’s Manager to arrange car-pooling. Tour Uniform: The QUT Student Guild will provide each participant with a Tour Shirt; this will be provided to your manager who will distribute this to you prior to or on the first day of the Tournament. Playing Uniforms: Indoor Cricket – Shirts provided. Shorts TBC. Indoor Netball – Shirts provided. Navy shorts for Mixed and Navy skirts for Women’s. Indoor Soccer – Shirts provided. Navy shorts. Beach Volleyball – Singlets arranged by Damian, shorts must match. Beach Touch – Shirts provided. Navy shorts or navy bike pants. Beach Ultimate Frisbee – Shirts provided. Navy shorts or navy bike pants. Insurance Information: Participant choosing to compete in a University Sport event do so at his or her own risk. The QUT Student Guild does hold a Student Personal Accident Insurance Policy that provides some cover for QUT Student in the event of an injury during your tour. Please report all injuries to your Sport Specific Appointed Manager or a QUT Student Guild Staff Member. You will be required to complete an Injury Form. If you need any further information on Insurance Claims Please contact the QUT Student Guild Office on 3864 1666. Trophies & Medals: The first three places in each category will be presented with medals (Gold, Silver & Bronze respectively). Beach Volleyball is a qualification sport for the Australian University Games; if you come top 3 you will qualify for Nationals. Merit Team Selection: Each participant in an AUS sanctioned Championship is eligible for Merit Team selection. An AUS "Merit" team is a selected representative team or group of individuals who are acknowledged, recognised and rewarded for outstanding sporting performance at an AUS event. "Merit" teams are selected in accordance with AUS approved sport specific selection criteria and processes and are awarded Medals. This team is a "paper" team and is NOT automatic selection in a representative fixture or an AUS endorsed tour.
