This extraordinary duet was formed at the end of the 2007. The duet plays world-wide variety classic music using Belarusian folk music instruments. Let`s look back into the duet formation history. Julia Novik. Accordion. She was interested in music from her early childhood. She finished music school in Svetlahorsk. Her first music contest victories and her first concerts were when she still was a pupil in the school. Julia`s parents and teachers were very proud to have such a talented child. The young girl was always dreaming about a big stage. So she decided to continue her education to become a professional. She entered Belarusian Music Lyceum. Her talent was immediately noticed by the professionals. Julia became a Scholarship winner of the President of the Republic of Belarus in Support of Talented Youth. It was a period of her first tours to the international music contest, her first victories… Dreams began to come true. Later Julia entered the Belarusian State Academy of Music. She became prizewinner at the V.V. Andreev international folk instruments performers contest which was held in SaintPetersburg, Russia. Julia Novik received diplomas at the accordion music international contests in Moldova and Poland. She is also a prize-winner of the music competition of bayan and accordion players “Young talents” in France. Year by year, step by step her dreams started to become true. Alesia Shahun. Dulcimer. Her music history began in one of the school in Minsk. She always used to surprise her teachers and parents. Her sense of music and cheerful character bring a certain peculiarity to the music she plays. Her aptitude for music helped her to pass exams at the Glinka Music College. The fame came to her after her first victories at the international contests in Moldova. Since 1998 soloist of The String Chamber Orchestra under the leadership of Perlin V.P. When she entered Belarusian State Academy of Music she was already a young professional. Alesya became a Scholarship Winner of the President of the Republic of Belarus in Support of Talented Youth. She also became a laureate (2nd degree) of the international folk music performers “The North Cup” contest, Cherepovez, Russia.She gave performances on the tour in Lithuania, Poland, the UK as a member of the orchestraIn 2007 represents Belarus at the “Days of culture” Tallin,Estonia Alesya Shagun received an invitation to teach in the State University of Culture after finishing the Academy. Two lives, two destinies… and one day their life lines crossed each other. The Belarusian State Academy of Music was the place where one of the best titled dulcimer players met a successful and talented accordion player. In a few months appeared the music project called “Milja”. Very soon the duet brought big results. The unique sound of the Astor Piazzolla music on Belarusian folk musical instruments was noticed and appreciated at the first Astor Piazzolla music performers international contest which was held in May, 2008 in Barnaul, Russia. The duet received diploma and first-prize at this prestigious contest. Then followed performances in Minsk, Vitebsk, Gomel, Izhevsk, Barnaul Concert Halls. The duet was invited to Marburg (Germany) to give a series of concerts there. It goes without saying that their performances are full of originality and their music touches hearts of the listeners. What makes the duet “Milja” so unique? Unusual sound of the instruments, charming atmosphere which the performers create, charismatic personality of the players, their professionalism and inborn talent, the depth and passion of the music they play – these are the main characteristics which make the duet so interesting and popular. The “geography” of their performances is growing. “Milja” gave concerts in Russia, Poland, Ukraine, France, and Germany. We hope that this list will continue to grow. In the repertory of the duet you will find works of such composers as Astor Piazzolla, Richard Galliano, Vladimir Zubizky and other European and Belarusian composers. We would like to single out two outstanding works written by the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. The first work is called “Libertango” written by Piazzolla and processed by Richard Galliano. The second work – is a concerto dedicated to Astor Piazzolla(Partrt One) written by Vladimir Zubizky.
