ispo china winter 06, which will take place in the SNIEC – Shanghai New International Expo Center – from March 13 to 16, 2006, will present a substantially larger brand portfolio and a larger exhibition area with 16,500 sq. m. compared to its premier in March 2005. A total of 286 international brands from 26 countries will exhibit their products to retailers from the complete Asian-Pacific region.

The product presentations of the exhibitors are arranged into Outdoor, Boardsports, Snowsports, Teamsports, Sportswear & Sportstyle, Fabrics & Fibres, Fitness & Wellness as well as Racket analog to the special community concept of ispo in Munich. As a result, ispo china 06 will again become the meeting place of international sports brands and specialized retailers in the Asian-Pacific region and make direct exchanges of high quality brand products and innovations possible.

The biggest special community is the Outdoor Community, which is well represented with brands such as Merrell, Garmont and Vasque in the shoe area as well as with W.L. Gore,

The North Face, Salewa and Lowe Alpine The new special community Fabrics & Fibres is also very popular with exhibitors such as DuPont, Sympatex, 3M and Toray as well as the areas of Snowsports with brands such as Rossignol, Tecnica, Nordica, Halti, Bergans, Garmont, Oakley and Reusch and Boardsports with Burton, Quiksilver, Santa Cruz, Nitro, Nidecker, DC and Dakine, among others. The German trade fair pavilion will occupy a total of 400 sq. m. with companies such as Iguana, Joy/Tao, Leki, Nici, Sympatex and Uvex. The “Italian Village” will contain Boeri, Lotto, Colmar and Masters, among others, and Buff, Bestard, Casa Artiach and Laken will be in the Spanish joint participation organized by Ayfidad.

Already one day before ispo china 06, the “Asia Pacific Snow Conference” (APSC) held for the first time in close collaboration with Toray will provide an optimum information and communication platform for experts and representatives of the snow sport business in Asia. Leading international experts will talk about their experiences and assessments within the framework of speeches and panel discussions. The conference will run in three parts: following talks in the morning, there will be a panel discussion on the topic of “How to Develop Snowsports in China” with Richard Prothet (Rossignol), Alberto Zanatta (Technica Group), Craig Smith (Burton), Martin Breyer (Ttiss), Alessandro Marzola (A.N.E.F. Alto Adige) and Stefan Reichmann (Reichmann Skiservice). The special area of snow sports will be dealt with and discussed in workshops in the afternoon.

Another very important program item of ispo china 06 is the “Outdoor Retailer Conference” in collaboration with W.L.Gore, which will again bring interested retailers together in Shanghai Century Park on Thursday, March 16, to share experiences, know-how and talk about problems as well as development and growth of the Asian sports equipment industry. The central topic of the event is “How to improve your business”. Topics such as stock management, merchandising, database marketing and staff training will be discussed in various workshop. The organizers are again expecting participation of approximately 250 leading Chinese retailers from the outdoor branch at the event. Speakers will include Dr. Thomas Lipke from the German chain store Globetrotter and Mr. Pu Wie, owner of Green Ants, one of the top outdoor shops in China.

Numerous interesting seminars and workshops will also be held in addition to daily fashion shows within the framework of ispo china 06. The program includes the WGSN Global Trend Seminar this time, which will deal with seasonal color trends, current developments in the culture scene of youths, stimulating sales and of course the top ten of the WGSN inspirations. This free seminar will take place in the conference room M13/Hall E1 at 3 p.m.


on Tuesday, March 14. The trend research institute Promostyl will present the latest sport trends for summer 2007 in conference room M19 at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14 and in conference room M13 at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15.

The “Sports & Fortune Forum” will take place in conference room M14 in the afternoon at 2 p.m. on March 13. The forum has been designed and organized in close collaboration with and World Sporting Goods Magazine. The goal is to communicate sales concepts efficiently and effectively to develop attractive brands. More than 200 participants have registered for the forum till now, including managers from wellknown Chinese and international sports brands, brand managers and experts from the media.

C-Zone, China’s first-class sport marketing conference series, will take place for the third time following its first two successful events, this time parallel to ispo china. The event on March 16 and 17 again promises to be a fantastic meeting of top decision-makers of Chinese and international brands, who want to strengthen their position in the Chinese sporting goods industry. Composed of expert presentations, case studies and workshops, which deal specifically with the Chinese market, the conference is a must for all, who want to establish a new brand and attract new customers. C-Zone Shanghai sees itself as a continuation in the series of existing conferences dealing with the development of the sporting goods industry in China. Consequently, the event will deal primarily with the topic of sports sponsorship.

In addition to this comprehensive supporting program for the trade, sports will of course be given appropriate attention. For example, the Shanghai Skate Masters will again take place at ispo china 06. Approximately 13,000 visitors are expected at the contest. The pros Stefan Janowski and Kyle Leeper (Quiksilver, USA), Andrew Curry (DC, Australien) as well as Dayne Brummett and Josh Evin will display their talents at the demonstration skate shows taking place daily. The next generation will first compete for prizes on Tuesday, March 14, which are sponsored by Quiksilver, DC, Habitat, Alien Workshop and Premium Skateboards, among others. The winner of the contest will receive a one-year sponsoring package from Quiksilver and the chance to be included in the National Chinese Quiksilver Skate Team (a chance, which all other contest participants will also have). On Thursday, March 16, 2006, the pros from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan will compete in the top event with prizes worth a total of 10,000 RMB. In between on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, Chinese skaters will take part in the “DC Game of Skate”, which will take place in Shanghai for the first time. Last but not least, a streetpark created


by Convic (Australian Skatepark Design Company) will provide exciting contests and demonstrations and guarantee all skaters from beginners to pros lots of skating fun.

Following the successful premier of the ispo china Climbing Cup in March 2005, ispo china is continuing with its own climbing contest for the second time. In close collaboration with Ozark, one of the leading Chinese outdoor brands and CMA (Chinese Mountain Association), well-known Chinese and other Asian climbers will compete against each other. The disciplines of speed and difficult climbs as well as bouldering will be on the agenda.

There will be a specially designed “Shoe Test Area” available to visitors of ispo china in Hall E1, booth 211 for the first time. In collaboration with Outdoor Exploration Magazine and supported by Gore-Tex, various outdoor suppliers will present their shoes and invite visitors to test them on an area of 150 square meters. The test course provides the possibility to test the shoes for their properties, among other things, in wet and difficult terrain, to get a feeling for the significance of function in outdoor shoes. There will also be daily company and production presentations on a stage, where specific information will be provided about the individual shoes. In addition, visitors will obtain added insights into shoes in a special exhibition on the topic of “The History of Shoe Development”.
