For OBVT100Insulation Oil Breakdown Voltage Tester

is designed and developed according to the international standard . It has advantages of simple and compact structure, easy operation and perfect capability of anti-interference. This tester is the new generation product of insulation oil breakdown voltage test instrument.

The tester provides following two sets of measurement programs: (the program with fixed working parameters) (the program in which the working parameters can be set) The working parameters in program a) are: measurement times, 6, voltage raising speed, 2000V/s, standstill time before raising voltage, 5s and standstill time after breakdown, 3s. The stirrer should keep stirring during the complete process of measurement. The parameters in program b) can be set except the measurement times and voltage raising speed. The stirrer can be set as intermittent operation mode. This tester can maintain the user’s setting. It is not necessary to set again when the tester is switching on again. There is dual protection function for hardware circuit protection and software control in order to ensure reliable fast chopping HV voltage after breakdown. The breakdown voltage during voltage raising and the average voltage are displayed when the test is finished.

“ ” button: Push down this button to initialize the instrument again when the instrument is in abnormal condition. “ ” button: It is used for test and calibration. “▲▼” button: It is used to control the up and down motion of cursor and to change the size of numbers. “ ” button: It is used to execute the selected function. “ ” button: It is used to exit the function and back to the last menu.

Switch on the power and complete the initialization (the movable line on bottom of display screen reach at right end after power is turn on), then push down “ ” button and enter the main menu. There are 2 items in main menu. They are “ ” and “ ”. The cursor (finger shape) on the left of menu is used to indicate the selected item. Push the “▲”and “▼”button can change the selected item. When the cursor in the main menu is at “fixed parameter test”, push down the “OK” button. The tester will make measurement according to one set of fixed parameter until the measurement results are displayed at last. When the cursor in the main menu is at “ ”, push down the “ ” button. The tester enters the submenu. The submenu includes: “ ”, “ ” and “ ”. The “ ” is the first voltage applying time after the sample is filled. The “ ” is the time from the voltage regulator returning to zero position to applying voltage again. “ ” indicates the stirring mode. When the tester is turn on the initial setting is “ ”, When the setting is set as “ ”, the “ ” is the stirring time for each stirring. In the submenu, “ ”, “ ” and “ ” is set as two digitals. It can be set from 1 to 99. The unit is minute. The digital setting method is as following: push down the “ ” button in the submenu, the cursor in the left will disappear and the corresponding

digital will appear positive display, push down the “▲” “▼” When setting is finished, push down the “ ” button to make next digital setting. After all the setting is finished, push down the “ ” button to exit setting. The flicker cursor disappears The menu recovers. When “ ” is set as “00”, the stirrer works in “ ” mode, “ ” is displayed. Otherwise the stirrer works according to actual indicated time. The setting time will be displayed. The “ ” as stirring time indicates the time from the voltage regulator returning to zero position after breakdown to stopping stirring.. The time from stopping stirring to applying voltage is “ ”. In the submenu, to select “ ”, push down the “ ” button to start measurement. The whole measurement process is controlled by the setting parameters. At last the tester will display the breakdown voltage for each test and average breakdown voltage. In the “measurement result” menu, push down the “ ” button, the measurement results can be printed. Push down the “ ” button to return to corresponding test menu.

Open the oil tank cover of tester, use small screw driver to take off one of support part of electrode and insulation bushing and leave only the tightening ends of electrodes. Connect the tighten ends of electrodes to the HV terminal of a.c. high voltage meter. The ground wire of AC HV meter is connected to the ground terminal of tester then both is connected reliably to ground of laboratory. The signal wire of voltage divider is connected to the digital HV meter.

Take off support parts of two electrodes and insulation bushings, connect the HV terminals of dividers of HV meters to tightening ends of two electrodes. The grounding terminals of two HV dividers and grounding terminal of tester are connected reliably to the ground of laboratory. The signal wire of divider is connected to the HV meter.

Connect the wires according to Connect the power line and use small clamp or other thing to close the switch located at the right side of oil tank. Turn on power switch. Push down the “ ” button in the main menu of standard test. And enter “ ”. Set the suitable “ ” in the test menu and push “ ”. The tests will raise voltage once according to the set time. Push “ nter” button and then push “ ”again, repeat such operation, the voltage will reach the required value and keep the voltage constant. Record the reading of tester and reading of HV meter. 2 reading of HV meter is the reading of output voltage. (reading of tester 2×reading of HV meter)/(2×reading of HV meter) is the measuring error of tester.

The error is larger, even exceed the standard value, if the method is used. The method can be used if further verification is required. The measuring error is (reading of tester sum of readings of two HV meters)/ (sum of readings of two HV meters). When the method is used to carry out test the distance of two HV lines should be larger than the distance of two HV electrodes. When the “ ” is set as 15s-20s, the “ ” can be obtained. It is (the voltage after applying voltage voltage before applying voltage)/voltage raising time. When the tester enters the debug menu, The “ ” button should be push down before each button is pushed. Otherwise the tester will not respond to any operation. The tester returns to original state after test is finished.

When the insulation breakdown the buzzer will alarm, the display of LCD will disappear for short time. It is normal. The operation of single chip computer will not be effected. The display of LCD will recover after breakdown. and the measurement can be carried out again. The check and changing paper for printer refer to appendix A. If the display is not clear you can regulate the contrast regulating knob by small screw driver which is provided with tester. Put the oil cup in the special oil cup box if the oil cup is not used for long time or during transportation.
