Please forward this ACE memorandum to ACE providers within your region.

Invitation I would like to announce a second round of funding for the Shared Services initiative and encourage ACE organisations to take up this project opportunity to develop creative and innovative Shared Services projects to facilitate effective operation in the new contestable market. EOI guidelines and application form (Attachment 1) are attached to this memo. Background The Shared Services initiative is directed at improving the back-of-house efficiency of ACE organisations to improve business viability through achieving greater efficiency in business functions. Efficiencies achieved through Shared Services initiative projects are anticipated to assist ACE providers to more effectively focus on increased service provision and potentially lead to an increased capability to grow, expand and deliver learning and employment pathways in a demand driven environment. Four projects were successful from Round 1 of Shared Services funding:     Keysborough Learning Centre – (shared use of a financial management system) Kyabram Learning and Education Centre – (shared services relating to data collection and systems software) North Melbourne Language and Learning – (shared services relating to data collection, workforce processes, management and documentation) Community College Warrnambool – (shared use of an internet based document storage system)

Project Description Funding from $30,000 to $80,000 will be awarded to ACE providers to develop collaborative service sharing arrangements to enhance back-of-house organisational efficiency. Please note that projects which fall outside of the above-mentioned funding range will still be considered for funding. The project will begin with the development of Shared Services action plans. A group start-up workshop will be coordinated with successful applicants to facilitate the development of action plans. The Shared Services projects will be strongly supported with meetings being held every three months between a Shared Services Business Support Panel and successful applicants to review and discuss progress and to provide ongoing guidance and support. It is anticipated that Shared Services arrangements will become sustainable models at the close of the project and that the successful models will be communicated to the ACE sector for consideration and potential implementation. Round Two - Expressions of Interest Expressions of Interest (EOI) are sought from ACE providers to apply for Round Two funding for Shared Services projects. An EOI must be submitted by a lead ACE Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the Shared Services project with confirmation of support from partner organisations involved in the project. Please note that the closing time for enquiries regarding Round Two of Shared Services project is Wednesday 21 October 2009. The closing date and time for submissions of EOI’s is 2pm on Friday 30 October 2009. Incomplete applications and applications received after this date will not be considered for funding.
