Advantages of the location: By its geographic position, the Brcko District is located in the northeastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which borders with Serbia & Montenegro and Croatia. It has a special status within BiH with the ability to pass its own laws. Brcko city is located right on the border crossing to Croatia and 20 km away from the juncture of three national borders. It is almost equally close to three main industrial centers: Belgrade (200 km), Zagreb (270 km) and Sarajevo (210 km), with whom is linked by road, railway and river traffic networks. Given Brcko’s central location, visitors to more than one of these capitals often find it convenient to overnight in Brcko. The aim of the Brcko District Government is to turn this region into the most business-friendly area in all BiH. The Brcko District hosts the Arizona market, the site of the largest foreign investment in the country, sixteen banks and a branch office of the central bank of BiH. Hotel “Revena” is located in the center of downtown, next to one of the main traffic roads, and adjacent to the international border crossing to Croatia. It stands amidst District Government Building, Assembly Hall, Brcko Port, and growing number of business and trade centers. Proposals to investors: The Brcko District is a place with a specific significance when it comes about the investment opportunities in tourism and catering industry. At present, there is no hotel of international standards in Brcko and in the area, although there are a sufficient number of potential users (international and high officials, businessmen). Currently, Brcko provides over 1 000 overnight accommodations per month, with increasing trend. There is a potential for development of conference and fair tourism. A study by the University of Banja Luka points to the potential for re-animating hunting tourism. Attractiveness of development of this kind of tourism is shown by the fact that hunting tourists are mostly businessmen from highly developed countries. This reveals significant possibilities for the

development of following tourist services, such as catering, which is not yet well developed in BiH or in wider region. Besides that, the investor could apply for a casino license, which would complete the offer of the high standard hotel. Because there is a large interest for Brcko District, and since the economy in Brcko is constantly developing, number of automobiles in the area is constantly increasing, and parking is an increasing demand in the downtown area. Investor may wish to include under ground parking in the project. The Government of Brcko District will give the investor maximum flexibility to renovate the current building, expand it, or construct a new one on the site.
