High expectations about the PEA exhibition
“We definitely have high expectations about the 2009 PEA exhibition. The good thing is that we can meet both existing and potential customers. Now that the exhibition will also be including electronics we will be looking out for joint venture opportunities in this industry as well,” says Sales Director Olav Bakken from the Industrial Department of Schneider Electric Norge AS. Schneider Electric, NOTE and Yokogawa are the main sponsors of PEA09, the industry’s principal meeting place for the processing, electronics and automation industries which is to be held at Norges Varemesse in Lillestrøm on 27-29 October next year. Schneider Electric Norge is a subsidiary of the global French group which has a total of 120,000 employees in 190 countries. In Norway the group has around 150 employees and a turnover of NOK 875 million. “Our Sales Department is divided into three main market segments: energy and infrastructure, houses/industrial buildings and industry, which also includes ships/offshore. The industrial segment is obviously the most relevant one for us at the PEA exhibition and we will be focussing mainly on customer segments including OEMs, systems integrators, end users and automation panel builders. Our main intention will be to present our systems, solutions and products to customers in these fields. However, we will also be keeping an eye out for synergies in other fields at the exhibition, and we will be assessing opportunities for the delivery of individual components and for entering into cooperation in respect of more complete solutions for the electronics sector," says Mr. Bakken. Focus on solutions “In the future we will be placing greater focus on solutions and creating win-win situations for our customers. We visit our customers, make suggestions and discuss solutions that they can select. Schneider Electric still supplies components, but we also make suggestions about how components can be incorporated into systems. Our customers are still building systems themselves, but we can document and guarantee that our products will work in their systems," explains Mr. Bakken. “Make the most of your energy” is Schneider Electric’s new slogan. “It is our aim to help our customers by providing safe, user-friendly, innovative and efficient solutions. This involves the implementation of

several energy-efficient solutions for houses/industrial buildings, the energy/infrastructure segment and industry. We are working on several concepts designed to improve energy efficiency," he says, quoting the use of frequency transformers instead of direct starters for engines as an example. “Another area which we are starting to move into is motion control, which is used, for example, for machines for the food and drinks industry, packaging machines or materials handling machines. Schneider Electric has been involved in this field for a long time, but we are now hoping to focus more on Norway. And this is obviously interesting, bearing in mind the customer groups which we will be focussing on at the exhibition,” ascertains Director Bakken. Market shares As regards future expectations he says: “Generally speaking the industrial market will continue to grow. Schneider Electric is one of the leading companies in the field of industrial automation and is a market leader in respect of various fields relating to the Telemecanique brand. In Norway our aim is to grow at least at the same rate as the market. We anticipate being able to capture market shares. For 2008 I would calculate that our turnover will be well in excess of NOK 900 million and that we will experience further growth next year,” says Director Bakken, who is looking forward to the major industrial gathering at PEA09.
