Dear Rock Hounds

Gemboree 2009 Newsletter 2

After another visit to the camping / caravan site we can report the wonderful changes that have taken place since the whole area was flooded out meters deep in June. The owners have not taken half measures and we could admire the newly refurbished and tastefully tiled ablution blocks, laundry area as well as the leveled out / drained “Living Areas” with a full supply of brand new electrical point stands:- 15-amp round pin sockets but unsuitable for adaptors (obstruction by the switch), please bring extension leads with multiple sockets as per your requirements. The pool area is very inviting and there is a well-equipped children’s play area. The lapa has several small braai facilities and one very large one. Fires are provided but bring your own cutlery / crockery / glasses please.

ϖ To wet your appetite some photos of the Gemboree venue newly refurbished after the floods.

Our site visit necessitates hard hats – but do not worry – you will find one in your goodie bag. Should you have something you wish to contribute to the goodie bag, please contact Imelda – urgently as she is short of donations - on Email: Cell: 082 463 8769 / Direct Fax: 086 517 5937

If you like to contribute to the auction, we would appreciate that “special items” have a little CV added, like where and when found – and maybe special conditions under which they were found – just to make it that little more attractive. Donations for the silent and live auction must be handed in at Registration Please consider sensible footwear / sunscreen / - hats for Sunday morning at the Beach – and PLEASE accept that there is NO COLLECTING of fossilized items. Unregistered day visitors will be admitted against a small fee – Adults R20, children under 16 yrs R10. They are NOT eligible to join in the outings. There will be a sale of beautifully bound copies of the Marble Delta Geology; your club has only one informative bundle. Please note that all communication goes to Imelda. Regretfully the address label was not adjusted on the first communication. We are looking forward to seeing you down here.
