BGN CIRCULAR 95-2009 PERFECT DELIVERY BOWLS GAUTENG NORTH MASTERS TOURNAMENT: RESERVES, VENUES, DATES, TIMES AND CONDITIONS OF PLAY
The Perfect Delivery Bowls Gauteng North Masters tournament is scheduled to take place on 18 and 19 July 2009. The Men and Ladies Open and Senior tournaments will be played at Wingate Park and the Presidents with the exception of the finals at Centurion. The finals of the Presidents will also be played at Wingate Park. The official reserves are: LADIES: Open Seniors Presidents Katie de Vlamingh and Vicky Frost Francis Channer and Beryl Katz Rea Potgieter and Ria Enslin. MEN: Jacko van Graan and Mike O’Connor Snr Niek Laage and Martin du Toit Sipho Zwane and Hugh Smith

Bertus van Rensburg and Willem van Niekerk have withdrawn from the Open and have been replaced by Jacko van Graan of Wonderboom and Mike O’Connor (Snr) of Harlequin BC. All reserves are expected to report at the venues in question at the commencement of the tournament. The selected players are to report by not later than 7.30 am at the relevant venues. If a player is running late, please telephone the relevant Competition Secretary by not later than 7.30 am. Attached also please find the Conditions of Play and the Draw. Yours in bowling

BOWLS GAUTENG NORTH Conditions of play 2008/2009 PERFECT DELIVERY MEN & LADIES MASTERS, SENIOR MASTERS AND PRESIDENTS SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009
1. 1.a. The competition will be played on a round robin basis in two sections. A time limit of 2 hours 30 minutes will apply to all games played. Trial ends form part of the time limit. Ends in progress will be completed. The player with the highest score will be declared to be the winner. All Men and Ladies Senior and Open players must report to Wingate Park Bowling Club, by not later than 07h30 on both days of play. A period of grace of not more than 10 minutes will be allowed. All Men and Ladies Presidents players must report to Centurion Bowling Club, not later than 07h30 on both days of play. A period of grace of not more than 10 minutes will be allowed On Sunday after morning play all Presidents players shall proceed to Wingate Park Bowling Club for lunch, and finals. DRESS CODE: The highest colours awarded to a player must be worn. Three (3) rounds will be played on Saturday and two (2) on Sunday morning. Scorecards:  Starting and ending times must be recorded on the scorecards  Shots must be recorded at the completion of each end  Both players must sign the card at the conclusion of the game confirming the final score.  The Umpire shall, after controlling the totals, sign the card.

Discrepancy between scorecard and scoreboard: (Law 37.3.2 Domestic Regulations page 4) In the event of any discrepancy the two players will agree to correct the score. If there is no consensus, the scoreboard will overrule the scorecard. One trial end in each direction shall be allowed. Should inclement weather prevent the completion of the game/s, the game/s shall be completed on a day decided upon by the Controlling Body. Any player may warm up before a game, time allowing and with the approval of the Tournament Official. Warm up should be in the opposite direction of expected play. Warm up should not be deliberate play and no target such as a jack may be used, but bowls may be delivered to enable the player to warm or loosen up. All games will be played in a North-South direction. The use of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products on the green or within two metres from the perimeter of the green is strictly prohibited. Cellular phones must be turned off during play. Burnt ends will be replayed. Restricting the movement of players: (Law A.4.1, page 68) players will only be allowed to walk up to the head after delivery of their third and fourth bowls. The TOSC will arrange for umpires and markers. All games will be played in accordance with the Laws of the Sport of Bowls (Crystal Mark Edition) unless changes have been specifically made to a law in accordance with Law 17.1 The Controlling Body, which is the Executive of Bowls Gauteng North, has delegated its duties and powers to the relevant Competition Secretaries.
