					…and you give yourself away…
What would cause you to give yourself away? A bride – the hope of love
Giving your life away is completely opposite to our instinct of survival and self

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. 45"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. (Matt 13) When the man found the treasure = JOY!!! The treasure was so great in his eyes that he sold everything to have it.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him cross, shame, endured the cross scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb 12:2) The price for His treasure: shame; cross

Jesus says that the Kingdom of God is like this treasure Why do so many struggle to give everything in order to obtain the Kingdom?????
- perhaps they didn’t recognize the treasure I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17You say, `I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire so you can become fire, rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. (Rev 3)

When I was in Std 6 & 7

– not a giving away of myself (theoretically, I was saved, but I know now that I had not seen the treasure)

maybe their memory of the treasure’s glory faded

Std 8: rebellion, salvation, fading Finding other treasures

Now - or there may have been a veil over their eyes that blinded them. And even if our gospel is veiled it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4The god of this age has veiled, Christ, blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the image of God. (2 Cor 4)

The treasure is real & it is glorious But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is (1 Jn 3:2) him, is.
Strange power within this treasure from God – it changes us as we focus on it.

Paul 7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I things. rubbish, have lost all things I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ…. (Phil 3) Paul’s treasure: knowing Jesus Things that were profit: - now considered loss, the price paid for the real treasure
- idols

Rubbish - only he real treasure can cause previous treasures to become like rubbish
Only the real treasure can make you give yourself away!!

Have you seen it?

Questions Do you find church tiring? Does sacrifice for the Kingdom sound terrible? Are there illegitimate treasures in our hearts? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. (Matt 12:34) 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matt 6:21)
